Lipitor normal dose

Common Questions and Answers about Lipitor normal dose

lipitor

Avatar n tn 70 and if you are only on 5 mg of Lipitor the first thing I would do is to increase the Lipitor dose to 40 mg daily. Crestor is stronger mg for mg as compared to Lipitor but there is no data that suggests it is better.
678451 tn?1226425977 Lipitor is one of the best medications and a dosage of 10 mg is a low dose. Take Lipitor at bedtime. Daily would be better as your body has to adjust to the medication. Your doctor may move you up to 20 mg daily as your body adjusts.
Avatar m tn I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.
Avatar f tn We have a strong family history of heart disease and have found that statins help even when taken in a smaller dose than the lowest dose made. My father takes only one forth of his Lipitor and his cholesterol levels are excellent now. Sarcoidosis runs on my mother's side of the family. It affected my mother's lungs and heart. The radiation from Cat scans is high and to have one every year would increase the risk of cancer.
Avatar n tn However, through exercise he developed calaterals around his 100% block LAD artery. He has been on Lipitor since initial MI and had the dose increaed since last angiocather test 3 years ago. He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. He is able to work (farmer) but is increasinly fatigued. I want him to stop the Lipitor. Am I correct? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn His doctor started him on Lipitor 20 mg. After a few months he can hardly move-- his joints ache and he is getting new joint injuries daily-- (knuckels are swelling--arm muscle injury won't heal--).. His doctor stopped the meds, waited a week, then started at lower dose. Same results, He went from a vibrant energetic man to a slow limping man in a few months. What injuries is this medication doing to his joints? Might they be permanent? Does the Lipitor dissolve the calcifications?
Avatar f tn 1 uIU/ml which is hyperlevels and doctor reduced dose to 100mg for 6 days a week and to continue lipitor. I would like to know 2things. Can I not take lipitor at all as cholesterol became normal and also does such high hypo become so low? Plz clear my tensions..
Avatar f tn 300mg fenofibrate 200mg lisinopril 5mg twice a day and this was 7/11 I express muscle pain I have already been having from other meds he said it is a side affect but will f/u in 10/11 so i went for blood work and f/u with the Dr he said my numbers ha not came down much so we will go to 80mg of the lipitor I expressed my concerns about the high dose and I have been have muscle pain more often we headaches and he says the blood work doesn't show any problems with the liver so lets try, and I
Avatar m tn A couple thoughts, first off is the fact that 20 mg is a relatively low dose for Lipitor. To truly understand what impact it has had, it would be necessary to know your starting numbers. There has been considerable discussion concerning the use of statins in healthy people with low cholesterol levels and no risk factors. In the UK, they are testing a daily med that contains a statin to healthy individuals to reduce the risk of developing CAD.
Avatar m tn Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. A week later he gave me some samples of Crestor.
Avatar m tn Taking some of the same drugs as you, but only 5 mg of lipitor per day. some of your fatigue could be due to your high dose of lipitor. long term high dose lipitor has been shown to cause problems, including cognitive disfunction. the day after my MI I went on a strict plant based low fat diet akin to that advocated by Dr Esselstyn of the Clevenad Clinic.
Avatar n tn I later restarted Lipitor at a lower dose because all research and studies strongly suggest statins, and especially Lipitor, have beneficial effects upon cardiac, vascular, and brain function, and at the lower dose I haven't had any ill effects... but again, I can't say (and my docs can't say) if my original symptoms were because of Lipitor or "adjusting" to a new metabolism or what... That's the total of my two cents...
10996785 tn?1432812977 Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabdamolysis<sp? That spelling isn't even close.
Avatar m tn My doctor tried several other replacements but all brought on anxiety until I tried Lipitor. I have been on Lipitor since then and it has been working quite well. My medical insurance company stopped covering Lipitor and my doctor has been trying to find a suitable replacement. First, I was prescribed Pravacol which brought on a strong anxiety attack after taking it for 3 days. I was then given Crestor.
1158582 tn?1262951618 ve been on the lowest dose of lipitor for about 6 months, no side effects at all.
Avatar m tn I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.
Avatar n tn I am unconcerned about a modest increase in effective dose, but I imagine high-dose statin users with CKD, etc. should take the interaction seriously. Again, thanks!
Avatar m tn mepresor and loprine, his ALT and AST count in november 2008 was 30 and 22 respectively, by the use of lipitor his ALT ans AST count raised to 2246 and 1280 ... clearly above normal... doctor advised him t leave the use of lipitor. my question t you is ... by leaving lipitor will the count decrease?? or what should be done?? and is it possible that he gets infected with HCV by the use of lipitor, is it possible? how far has his liver been damaged??
Avatar n tn If this is raised then there is muscle injury and the drugs should b stopped. If CPK is normal, then the dose and exercise adjustment should help. Fat-soluble statins like Lipitor and Zocor cause more damage than water soluble statins like Pravachol and Crestor. Hence the latter should be tried at lower dose. Possibility of hypothyroidism and diabetes should be ruled out as the presence of either disease can complicate the muscle pain. Please discuss these points with your treating physician.
Avatar f tn He is very athletic always kept himself extremely fit. He was put on a dose of Lipitor of 20 mg and developed joint pain. His doctor reduced the amount to 10 mg. Now he is still experiencing extreme joint pain in his hip and has swelling of a finger joint and has injured his knee somehow without his knowledge. He has gone from a strong fit man to someone who hobbles around in less than 4 months. Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain?
Avatar m tn I think I have Unstable Angina, my doctor has put me on Lipitor, Plavix, Asprin, Monodur and has doubled my dose of Atenolol to 100mg, what I would like to know is with this treatment can Unstable Angina become Non Unstable Angina?, it would be nice to know if the blood thinning drugs have desolved the blood clot that is part of Unstable Angina. David.
Avatar f tn m 54 years old, female, with mild hypertension (controlled by low dose of Losartan) and hypothyroid (also controlled by meds; Armour) plus GERD (I take rx Prilosec.) Since my 30's my total cholesterol has been creeping up, but my HDL was always good (70) so my doctor always told me I didn't need statins. Well, last year, my cholesterol hit almost 300. LDL was high (over 150), tryglicerides were okay, and HDL was excellent. My doctor told me if he were me, he'd go on a statin.
Avatar m tn The Lipitor is one of the best cholesterol medication and there are Lipitor studies that show that Lipitor reduces cholesterol and cholesterol buildup already in the arteries. You can "google" it under Lipitor studies to find out the information. There are other beta blockers and ace inhibitors if the ones you are on are making you feel not so well. It could just be that any beta blocker and ace inhibitor will make you feel this way.
963249 tn?1247190497 What is most important is the free t4 and free t3 results. What were his exact numbers with the lab ranges? Being in the "normal" range doesn't always mean normal. TSH shows pituitary function. Interesting to know if his free levels are low normal which can surely cause symptoms, and then you have the tsh over 3 for backup.
