Avatar m tn I started taking Lipitor and went from 10 to 20 to 30 to 40 mg. At 30 mg vivid dreams came. I dream a variation of the same thing very night and it wakes me up every morning and I am being chased or accused of something bad. At 40 mg the dreams became violent and scary. Doc had me move to 20 as test and now they are exactly half as intense as at 40. It is 100 percent the Lipitor.
Avatar m tn My doctor has now prescribed 80 daily mg of Lipitor. This seems to be quite a change in dosage and the Lipitor pill is too large to be taken whole.

Avatar m tn I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.

Avatar f tn Our doctor switched my 57-year old husband from 20 mg Zocor to 10 mg Lipitor in Dec. 2011 due to elevated LDL particles. He also takes Dutroprol 100/12.5 and 40 mg Benicar for BP, 81 mg Aspirin, and 2000 mg Metformin for Insulin Resistance. He currently weights 260 lbs. at 6' tall, down from 275, and he's continuing to lose weight by following a lower carb diet and exercising. Seven months after starting Lipitor, his GGTP tested high at 87.
Avatar n tn My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.
Avatar n tn There is considerable debate about just splitting pills to save money. Say your doctor puts you on 20 mg of Lipitor, you get the same number of pills as you would with 40 mg at the same cost. Why not split the 40 mg pills and save money? That's the debate, Pfizer says it affects the effectiveness of the med but doctors say it's OK. Have you asked your doctor? They can make that determination for you, it's their job.
Avatar n tn However I have had a hard time controlling my LDL level. I reacted to Lipitor and have had some luck with zetia but now I am using red yeast rice which had kept my levels around 100 when I was clean in my diet, which is hard to do in Mx. I am 56 and in very good shape with a body fat of about 17%. I just had a lipid panel done and here are my numbers: HDL 113, LDL 131, Trg 36. My HDLs have always been very high, but never this high. I don't smoke, my BP runs 115/70 on average.
Avatar m tn Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. A week later he gave me some samples of Crestor.
Avatar n tn I was on lipitor was many years but no doctor ever checked my blood. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. Am wondering if the lipitor caused this. My total cholesteral is 226 and my LDL is 79.
Avatar n tn I've been on 10mg lipitor for about 2 months. In the pst 4 weeks, I have experienced an almost once-a-week swelling in my lips and face...first time lower left, 2nd time, entire upper, 3rd time lower right, 4th time, entire right side of my face and finally, yesterday, entire left side of my face from upper lip to just below the eye. Cardiologist told me to get off drug for 6 weeks to see if anything else is causing swelling.

Avatar n tn 3) If you get gas problems (Lipitor produced them to me) I solved it by taking any OTC pill with 120 mg of Sumeticone. 4) Despite any stomach problem, while you are on Plavix, DO NOT TAKE Omeoprazole or other Proton Pump Inhibitor without checking with your cardiologist. (Some studies indicate that might cancel the effect of Plavix). Wish you the best recovery!!!
