lipitor

519736 tn?1253986826 My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now. I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.
1134609 tn?1269272200 It has been an interesting process, but I think I have finally figured out the medication issues. Here's the lay of the land: 1. I have always been sensitive to medications; they either work for me or the SEs are unbearable. 2. I have never had any luck when I have been placed on the generic brands of medications. Celexa especially; I was on it for 10 years, tried the generic several times and paid for it. 3. I have also been on Neurontin for the past 10 years.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.

I also have to start on Nexium for GERD and now I Need a scope to go down my throat with a camera to look for ulcers? Any advice on these meds? 2121656 tn?1395674749 Dr. Schiano, Hi there! I'm thankful for this site to get a insight into understanding medical diagnoses. Before I get started, I would like to thank you for all you do and taking the time in reviewing my post. Well, I'll start with telling you a little about my health. I've type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high trig. (hereditary on mother's side). I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis. Due to the diabetes and high cholesterol I was taking metformin 500 mg.
1801781 tn?1461629469 I am having to switch to the generic version of Lexapro as it is now available. Insurance wants the change and I am OK with it as the cost will be less. My question is has anyone been on it and can they tell a difference??
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor (20mg) and my wife has been taking Simvastatin. Prior to being put on medication, my cholesterol had been running about 205 for a long time and my wife's had been around 160. What is the difference betwen the two? My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30).
Avatar f tn My Dr switched me over to generice Wellbutrin last week after having tried the SR version. I quit the SR version in early January, see my post in the archives section, due to a bad itching sensation. I quit the generic Wellbutrin on Sunday.
Avatar n tn This med is generic for Lipitor, as you probably already know. I've researched and there is nothing about anger problems. The best thing to do is ask your Dr or pharmacist if this could be a possible interaction. When did you start the Zoloft? I'm asking because anger and personality chances could be a side effect of this med.
603543 tn?1255294450 Good Afternoon, It is worth noting that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals currently has a patent for Effexor XR. While there is a generic extended release version of venlafaxine available, it is not exactly the same as the brand name (Because of the patent). The headaches you are experiencing may be caused by some of the inert ingredients in the generic brand. Knowing this, I would take the samples back to your Dr. and continue using the brand name since you already know it works for you.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar f tn I just tried to buy from the Canadian Pharmacy King for Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate Tablet [Generic version of Viread] It says: These products are dispensed by a Pharmacy Checker accredited dispensary based in Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, or Mauritius. I assume this means they can sell to the United States. Any one has experience using this generic version of Viread? Any doctor says ok?

Avatar m tn You can exchange the prescription at the pharmacy for the Brand Name, I did that when they tried to switch me from Lipitor with some generic made in India, which I refuse to take because of quality control issues.
Avatar m tn The generic drug for Lipitor has been recalled if you are on this medication contact your pharmacist. Recalled for possible glass particles in the pills.
Avatar n tn My research seemed to indicate that regular C would be a great option if it was finally determined that these pills would be helpful. However, my experience with the generic version out in the Caribbean makes me think otherwise. The thing that confuses me is I thought these products worked essentially the same, so I am confused as to how one would work for me and not the other? 1. Could it be the generics are "hit and miss" (i.e. some batches could be good, some not so good)?
Avatar n tn Many people report an increase in heart palpitations after switching from Toprol XL to its generic version, Metoprolol. My guess is that the generic version is ****, which is the case with many generics, despite what the FDA tells consumers.
1475202 tn?1536270977 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved escitalopram as the generic version (or equivalent) of Lexapro®.
309783 tn?1271958229 Viepax is simply a new generic version of Effexor XR (Extended Release) The active ingredient is Venlafaxine. (Same as in Effexor XR) The patent on Effexor XR ran out about 8 months ago and now other pharm companies can make generic extended release Effexor. In the last 7 years Effexor XR has made Weith Pharm company 3.5 Billion dollars per year. That Billion not Million. Now you can see why other pharm companies are so eager to get their generic version to market.
Avatar n tn I dont think the generic version is any different from the actual Seasonique. I am on Seasonique and am now on my second three month pack. I started breakthrough bleeding/spotting roughly into my third week of the first pack and pretty much have been bleeding since, (so a little over two months) It has been annoying to say the least, because in this whole time, I have maybe COMPLETELY stopped bleeding for 2-3 days.
