1352904 tn?1278356105 Extreme irritability, depression, mood swings, and behavioural changes. All of which have been devastating for me, as he now says that he wants a divorce. My teenagers and I are having our world turned upside down, due to what has happened to my husband. He is taking 80mg of Lipitor and has a very low cholesterol reading. Avatar f tn has me taking Lipitor for about that same amount of time for lowering cholesterol. Does Lipitor or any statin help prevent further carotid artery blockage?
678451 tn?1226425977 I have just started on Lipitor for what has been determined to be a genetic predisposition to High Cholesterol level. The physician wishes that I be maintained on 10 mgs. daily. However the Rx. was written for 40 mgs, to take one half tablet every second day(since the cost of procuring the 40 mg tablet is significantly lower). Will taking 20 mgs every second day give me the same benefit of 10 mgs daily. Or, is it best to take the medication daily as oppose to every second day.
Avatar m tn I am taking Lipitor 20MG for the last 6 years. Recently, my doctor advice me to stop taking Lipitor for 2 months and after that he will see my Cholestorel level result and will advice further medication. I am little scared if I stop taking Lipitor, does it will occur any heart attack or blockage in arteriy or any other risk for me.
10996785 tn?1432812977 LIPITOR (atorvastatin calcium) tablets are not for everyone, including anyone who has previously had an allergic reaction to LIPITOR. It is not for those with liver problems. And it is not for women who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. If you get pregnant, stop taking LIPITOR and call your doctor right away. If you take LIPITOR tablets, tell your doctor if you feel any new muscle pain or weakness.
Avatar n tn Lipitor is quite a strong statin too, there are many other brands which work in slightly different and less aggressive ways. Even lowering the dose can help. Almost all patients who suffer severe muscle pains are able to be pain free when they change to another brand.
Avatar n tn However, through exercise he developed calaterals around his 100% block LAD artery. He has been on Lipitor since initial MI and had the dose increaed since last angiocather test 3 years ago. He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. He is able to work (farmer) but is increasinly fatigued. I want him to stop the Lipitor. Am I correct? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn //www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this? How do you stop this 'hair growth' ? Is there an alternative to Lipitor? Thank you!
10996785 tn?1432812977 Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabadolosis<sp? That spelling isn't even close.
Avatar f tn My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?
Avatar m tn Did the Dr do any other blood work like Hepatitis A or B. Lipitor has been known to raise Liver enzymes. It is a side effect for some people. It cannot cause Hepatitis C. You Dr needs to do more evaluating.
Avatar n tn I drink socially and take liptor and was wondering in that I only drink in the evenings if it's better to take the lipitor in the morning in order for the liver to metabolize the alcohol at night. Or is the liver simply distributed evenly over a 24 hour period making the time you take it with alcohol irrelevant. Does drinking 1.5 - 2.0 oz of scotch or bourbon within an hour or two of taking 20 mg of Lipitor create an elevated risk of Liver or Kidney dysfunction?
Avatar n tn I've been on 10mg lipitor for about 2 months. In the pst 4 weeks, I have experienced an almost once-a-week swelling in my lips and face...first time lower left, 2nd time, entire upper, 3rd time lower right, 4th time, entire right side of my face and finally, yesterday, entire left side of my face from upper lip to just below the eye. Cardiologist told me to get off drug for 6 weeks to see if anything else is causing swelling.
519736 tn?1253986826 He has no history of heart disease. the main reason for the lipitor was to raise his good cholesterol. I have no knowledge of these medications, but did look up side effects of statins. If it does happen to be a side effect, how long should he wait to see if this pain resolves itself after stopping the lipitor....any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
Avatar m tn Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. A week later he gave me some samples of Crestor.
Avatar f tn When I told I could bear the cost, the doctor also suggested to go for generic for lipitor. Then I got from online at International Drug Mart.
Avatar n tn ve been on niaspam and my dr. thinks I should change to lipitor because of the new drug studies on lipitor. I am a perfect weight, and i'm 63 with no incidents of heart attack but my arteries do show significant arterilosclerosis. I feel healthy and seem great so far! any advice appreciated.
Avatar n tn I was on lipitor was many years but no doctor ever checked my blood. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. Am wondering if the lipitor caused this. My total cholesteral is 226 and my LDL is 79.
Avatar f tn I have been resisting the diagnosis for quite a few years but have been experiencing severe pain for the past couple of weeks and just want any pain killers that can give me relief. I am wondering if stopping the drug Lipitor could be exascerbating the problem. My symptoms sound like those caused by taking lipitor but I'm wondering if going off of it could be a form of withdrawal? Any insight would be most helpful.
Avatar m tn Hi Why would your insurance company stop paying for Lipitor but pay for drugs that put you in a purple haze? It is illogical and bizarre. It ends up costing them more money while you try out new meds and gives the drug companies more profit. I've been taking it for a few years now and it has had almost no side effects. Tend to agree about talking to a pharmacist about the chemical makeup and I think there is a post here in the Anxiety Forum by JSG regarding drugs.
Avatar f tn The Lasix helps get the excess water out of his system making it easier for his heart to work while lowering his BP. The Lipitor is a cholesterol med which he is taking to control his lipid profile and keep his arteries clear. How good is your father's overall health? Also, do you know what his EF% was?
Avatar f tn thanks for the reply... I know that Lipitor IS NOT safe but I have tried everything natural and still have a total cholesterol of 286. I am taking the chromium to bring down my blood sugar it is slightly elavated average about 125 I know that is not to high but my doctor doesnt like it ...As for the cholesterol.. I am all for any natural cures but I am at my wits end...any suggestions??
Avatar f tn A doctor has been monitoring his liver functions pretty regularly for the past 3 years because he has been on lipitor. His functions were all normal except for one time about a month after starting lipitor when then were slightly elevated. But they came back down into normal range by the next reading about 2 months later and have stayed normal since.
Avatar m tn This reporter, not so much for a news story as for his health, has been taking Lipitor in half doses for a year now, following a heart attack and a stent implant. He takes a five milligramme tab of Lipitor each night “around midnight”, and without fail the most pleasant and amazingly vivid dreams follow throughout the night, sometimes as many as three or four, with the last one around 6AM before waking.
