Within a few months I had severe muscle pain and loss of strength. I was taken off Lipitor. My current LDL is about 180 and use Flax Oil and Niacin supplements daily. Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness. I also suffered heat exhaustion in 2006 and now cannot tolerate more than 6 hours in, 90degree plus, heat. I sometimes have night sweats, and chills. My feet are so painful that I take Advil to sleep.

Hi I recently started taking Crestor for high Triglycerides but it was not agreeing with me. I was depress and getting pains all over my body.. My doctor put me on Lipitor , after three days, started feeling depress and started having pains in my left foot. The pains are bearable but it is if I over did exercise and it hurts constant.. My dr told me to come off the Lipitor, so what should I take.?.

I just started on Lipitor was in the hospital for a TIA mini stroke I feel a little shaky a little sore in my legs I was just wondering how long this will last? m alfrid,last year medical student,3 days ago my father had 3 coronary stents, one in RAC, two stents in LAD, because 2 days before the the procedure did, the cardiologist found 60 occlusion in RAC and total occlusion in mid LAD, now my father feels so pain in his foot, especially in dorsum pedis dextra, there is a swelling, warm, pain on the first thumb. is there a relation acute gout arthritis after coronary stenting? how it works? what drugs can relieve the pain.

I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.

I went to the doctor and told him that my Dad had the same reaction to Lipitor. So, he put me on Pravastatin instead. The pain reduced but never went away. I tried anti-inflammatory medications with no relief. I eventually saw another physician who set me up for X-Raysand blood work.

My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?

I started thinking back, since menopause, I started on several meds, on of which was lipitor. Not one doctor said it could be the lipitor i was taking causing the hives. My husband is having a warm sensation in his left leg and foot. He wonders what this could be?He has high chloresterol level. Would this have anything to do with it? He's never had this feeling before. He does take Lipitor for his chloresterol.Occasionally has Hernias.

Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. I had only taken it for about five weeks and the discomfort remains three weeks later. I had the same reaction to simvastatin, which I am told is the worst of the bunch. I'm waiting a few months and then I will try something with a less violent track record.

Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain? Is there any other medication with less side effects?

I have been resisting the diagnosis for quite a few years but have been experiencing severe pain for the past couple of weeks and just want any pain killers that can give me relief. I am wondering if stopping the drug Lipitor could be exascerbating the problem. My symptoms sound like those caused by taking lipitor but I'm wondering if going off of it could be a form of withdrawal? Any insight would be most helpful.

Reason I ask is that I have been taking Lipitor since November H.A. and Stent, 10 mgs at first and now 5 mg at night, just before bed time, and since i started taking them, on the 10 mg dosage i had deep lovely surrealistic dreams about all kinds of things, like a movie in my brain every night, fell joyful and happy upon waking, and now with the 5 mg dosage, breaking pills in half as per doctor's orders, I still have very vivid dreaming all night long. I love it.

We both - husband and wife, have been experiencing these symptoms. We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's.

I later restarted Lipitor at a lower dose because all research and studies strongly suggest statins, and especially Lipitor, have beneficial effects upon cardiac, vascular, and brain function, and at the lower dose I haven't had any ill effects... but again, I can't say (and my docs can't say) if my original symptoms were because of Lipitor or "adjusting" to a new metabolism or what... I have been on Lipitor for about 8 years and started having leg pain and many muscle aches. Dr wanted an ultrasound for blood clots since I recently had surgery. Thank goodness there was no blood clots. SO I asked my dr if she thought it could be the lipitor. She never even thought about it. So she agreed and and I went off of Lipitor for 2 weeks and the pain almost stopped.

I started with Lescol , then lipitor and now Crestor.The reason for these changes was to try to find a product that does not cause so much muscle cramps.This I decided I had enough. Craps in leg and foot musles have become unbearable. Can you suggest a remidy to avoid incresing my chol level again.

I was on lipitor was many years but no doctor ever checked my blood. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. Am wondering if the lipitor caused this. My total cholesteral is 226 and my LDL is 79.

t know the reason of the shoulder pain. But my husband thinks that this is happening becoz of Liptor . He stopped taking lipitor and trying to take some Ayurveda medicine . He still complains about the should pain. Please advise.

thanks for the suggestion about lipitor - I will discuss as well. I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.
