I am taking the chromium to bring down my blood sugar it is slightly elavated average about 125 I know that is not to high but my doctor doesnt like it ...As for the cholesterol.. I am all for any natural cures but I am at my wits end...any suggestions??
Avatar n tn From your last post a few weeks ago, sounds like his docs were concentrating on his symptoms to reduce swelling areas with prednisone (steroid) and that *can* make it more difficult to control blood sugar and blood pressure, but as the doc already knew that those were issues, I assume the potential risks were worth the risk. BUT...
Avatar n tn My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30). Why should my wife be taking medication with her levels being slightly higher than the desired mid-point?
Avatar n tn Other statin brands can be taken at any time, probably because they sit in the blood for longer or something, but Lipitor strictly instruct you to take in the evening. There are many reasons for trembling/shakes, perhaps your Dr should start with a blood test to look at your electrolyte levels. These are metals which you consume in food and assist the nervous system in conductivity. A lack can cause shakes and make you feel somewhat lethargic.
Avatar n tn I'm another volunteer here ... I'm a long-time Type 1, and not a medical professional. Some possibly relevant facts you haven't mentioned include how well your blood sugar is staying within your target range. While your diet & lifestyle sound quite healthy, it's important for you to keep your BG wihtin the target range. Excessive periods of high blood sugar can cause weight loss because the calories are excreted in the urine. Review your BG results with your doc.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Call your doctor right away if you have the following symptoms of liver problems - feel tired or weak or have a loss of appetite, upper belly pain, dark amber colored urine or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes. Tell your doctor if you have diabetes. Elevated blood sugar levels have been reported with statins, including LIPITOR. Common side effects are diarrhea, upset stomach, muscle and joint pain, and changes in some blood tests.
Avatar f tn Some natural ways to treat high blood pressure are to increase aerobic exercise, limit salt intake to 2,400 mg, trying to eat at least 3,500 mg of potassium a day, from foods such as yogurt, cantaloupe, spinach, and bananas, limit alcohol consumption, and even trying some forms of meditation. Some supplements that may help with blood sugar are GTF chromium, magnesium, Alpha-lipoic acid, and Coenzyme Q10. Please talk with your doctor before taking any suppplements.
Avatar m tn The FDA requires warnings that statins may increase the risk of liver damage, memory loss and confusion, elevated blood sugar, type 2 diabetes, muscle weakness (for certain statins). Increasing blood sugar levels can lead to weight gain.
Avatar n tn And for cholesterol, my daughter takes 10mg. of Policosonol which is made from sugar cane, but will not raise your blood sugar level. If it is really high you can take the Policosonol along with 500mg of non flush (but not time released) niacin. I am not a Dr. I only deal with natural medicine. If you try it I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn Did the Dr do any other blood work like Hepatitis A or B. Lipitor has been known to raise Liver enzymes. It is a side effect for some people. It cannot cause Hepatitis C. You Dr needs to do more evaluating.
Avatar m tn Last Month it was 74, it increased and he also told me that he will change my medecine from Lipitor to Crestor after two months blood test results. Please note that I have started Lipitor 10MG first 2 years. last 4 years I am taking Lipitor 20MG and 4 months befor my LDL was 3.
Avatar f tn Get your systemic parameters like blood pressure, blood sugar and lipid profile evaluated along with an electrocardiogram. Close observation and control of parameters if disturbed is very important. MS would need to be investigated if other conditions are ruled out. Keep in touch with your physician/ neurologist. Take care.
1806721 tn?1554333407 My questipn, however, is about whether statin drugs will raise blood sugar, causing pre-diabetes or diabetes? My paternal grandma has type 1 and my maternal uncle has type 2 diabetes. In the past 6 months, besides rapid weight loss, I also experienced fatigue, weakness, cold feet, dizziness, sudden drop of blood pressure, increased thirst and trips to restroom, low grade fever on and off with left side abdominal pain.
Avatar m tn //www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this? How do you stop this 'hair growth' ? Is there an alternative to Lipitor? Thank you!
Avatar n tn If you are on a beta blocker it could mean that the dosage has to be reduced because low blood pressure is usually the culprit with dizziness however if you are saying that it happens when you turn your head it could be a sciatic nerve problem...thats my take on it...
576875 tn?1217987525 I take Atenolol and Lotrel for HBP and is consistantly 136/68. My cholesterol was off the charts and began a regimine of Lipitor in 2001. Within a few months I had severe muscle pain and loss of strength. I was taken off Lipitor. My current LDL is about 180 and use Flax Oil and Niacin supplements daily. Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness.
Avatar n tn I was on lipitor was many years but no doctor ever checked my blood. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. Am wondering if the lipitor caused this. My total cholesteral is 226 and my LDL is 79.
Avatar n tn Has he talked to a doctor about his symptoms, and has blood been drawn to determine if there are adverse reactions with the Lipitor? I'm 67 also, had a heart attack nine years ago, but have a lot of stents in between, so your husband and I have lots in common! I also recently experienced increase fatigue, some unintended weight loss and I'm short of breath, and a stress test last week indicated new blockages, I'll see the doc next week to see what's next for me.
Avatar f tn Usually happens anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour after I wake up and lasts most of the day. standing and moving around is worse. Internist ran blood tests but did not have any answers.Wants to try med to raise my blood pressure which I wasn't sure about because when I take my bp it tends to be normal or prehypertensive. Trying to figure out if this lightheadedness is due to my neck problems or maybe something else. premenopause? something else?
1158582 tn?1262951618 My husband has been on Lipitor for about a year now. He takes it at night before bed and for about the past 2 months been waking up with nausea that lasts about 30 min. Occasionally he even has some vomiting. I was wondering if anyone would know if this could be connected with the Lipitor or if anyone else has had a similar experience with this drug?
