I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.

Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet. I now believe the Lipitor may be the cause of my "restless leg syndrome" and also the cause of these other aches and pains that are becoming much worse.

Im feeling the same way, I have bad pain on my left piriformis muscle. I had only taken Lipitor for one week.My pain is severe.After you stopped taking lipitor, How soon did it take until your pain went away.

I later restarted Lipitor at a lower dose because all research and studies strongly suggest statins, and especially Lipitor, have beneficial effects upon cardiac, vascular, and brain function, and at the lower dose I haven't had any ill effects... but again, I can't say (and my docs can't say) if my original symptoms were because of Lipitor or "adjusting" to a new metabolism or what... A bit confused as now 5 mg is my dose, and you said 40? Not 10???????? Maybe Japanese doses are lower?????? And already at 40 my CK is way over normal at 291. So wouldn't that risk problems with muscle pain. Also, you did not mention about the CoQ 10, which is disappointing.

Now he is still experiencing extreme joint pain in his hip and has swelling of a finger joint and has injured his knee somehow without his knowledge. He has gone from a strong fit man to someone who hobbles around in less than 4 months. Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain? Is there any other medication with less side effects?

Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems. Do you think I should consider this image screening?

Hi all, My father had a triple by pass surgery about 18 months ago, and has been taking Lipitor, Perondopril and Atenolol. He's been getting abnormal hair growth on one side of his leg and back and chest since he's been on Lipitor, and Perondopril. Hello , I’ve been suffering from lower left chest pain , under left breast, it’s pretty chronic and gets worse with Heavy meals or position. I also experience cramp like symptoms in that area like a soreness. I have bellching episodes , shoulder pain and just discomfort. I’ve had ECG , cat scan , thallium stress test , X-ray , echo cardio gram , ultrasound of the entire area. I’m not what rude todo. Was given gabpectin , I take aspirin , and Lipitor. Anyone else have something similar?

liver normal, kidneys normal, thyroid normal......told me I had ideopathic constipation and to stay on bisocodyl permanently and go back in a year but.... I still have pains like a toothache in my belly,bloating, 4 bisocodyl now stopping working, moved up to 5, started with belching again, and still only pass liquid.....shouldn't I have and an endoscopy of the upper GI tract?

I noticed you mentioned you have not had an MRI of your lower back and you do have sciatica. With your leg symptoms, I would recommend having an MRI along with your blood tests. I am a little concerned that you might have a bulging disc that's pinching something at L-5 S1 in your lumbar spine. I could be wrong, but if you have good insurance you might as well be safe. I am always very precautions about those types of things. Just my thoughts. Take care of yourself.

m asking my psychiatrist to change me to cymbalta since i have chronic pain in my joints and back and it helps with pain, but he hasn't called me back yet so i'm still waiting. you may need a different antidepressant or a lower dose or something. you may need more xanax but you have to deal with your doctor about all this though. how high is your cholesterol?

I also have had pain and burning in my right retrosternal area and grinding pain in my back under my right scapula for years. The pain has been getting worse but CT scans are negative despite recently a serum amylase of 633. My Gastroenterologist says surgery (cholecystectomy), is not warrented since the CT scans are negative. What is causing the elevated amylase? CT scan shows no pancreas abnmormality. I am diabetic since 6 years, two years back i discovered that my Lipo is high( cholestrol 290, LDL and HDL),i start taking Crestor and after that i discovered that my CPK level is 600. i stoped it for two months and went down to 450 , due being Hypolipid i couldn't control cholestrol by exercise or food so i changed three doctors and each gave me a different Statins and the CPK now reaches 1375 . , i tried Ezytrol for a while but it's effect was very low .

Does anyone know why the drug information for Lipitor says that it can cause problems for some people with hypothyroidism? I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.

I stopped the lipitor 3 days ago and the pain in my legs has stopped and feet are some better. I go to the dr. soon so I will tell her. I have stopped the lipitor before for a few days and gotten back to normal.

Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. A week later he gave me some samples of Crestor.

There are several in the class of cholesterol lowering medications that lipitor is in and there are a couple of adjust therapies that maybe would help as well. Your doctor will be the best to help guide you. Is it your LDL cholesterol that you are trying to lower? If you are having muscle pain, I would also mention this to your doctor as you do not want to continue a cholesterol lowering drug that is causing this. But again, there are several alternatives to Lipitor in the same class.
