Common Questions and Answers about Lipitor and ed

lipitor

Avatar m tn I have been having issues since 2007 and up until nearly 2 years ago, I had 10 stents + triple bypass. In 2007 I was diagnosed as having very high cholesterol and this was brought under control with Lipitor. Even with low cholesterol, I formed blockage after blockage. Looking back at my images, it appears that all disease that existed, continued to grow. No new disease seemed to form. Even 10% blockages grew to 90% + and had to be stented.

Avatar n tn On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
Avatar m tn I'm tempted to stop the Lipitor myslef and see if it makes any difference... the ED is reduced the further from taking the Lipitor, what little there is last thing at night before I take the tablet.... ... I'm sure my mega low cholesteral and strict diet is wrecking the balance.... it seemed to rapidly get worse with doing excercise....
Avatar m tn So between these thing and the ED I am at a loss as to why and appreciate all and any advice so again my sincere thanks for your reply.
Avatar m tn While on Lipitor I typically run around 180 with LDL at 100. I have also had some minor ED symptoms, which is what led me to health changes and seeking information. Otherwise, I am actually in the best shape of my life and am very active in a cross-fit gym. I also now do yoga once a week. I have also modified my diet from a paleo diet, to a modfied paleo where I eat only lean meats and focus on avoiding processed carbs and gluten.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
Avatar f tn There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar f tn The Lipitor package insert recommends that a test of your liver function should be done prior to and at 12 weeks following both the start of therapy with Lipitor and any increase of dose, and periodically (for example, every six months) thereafter. If there are any changes in your liver function, drinking alcohol may make it worse.
Avatar n tn People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.
Avatar n tn If hypothyrodism can cause high cholesterol is it not better to take thyorid hormone replacement than Lipitor?
Avatar n tn I got worried so I looked up sudden sweats on the internet and found it could be a sign of a heart attack. THis scared me very much and so I got a little panicky and got more flushed and got the feeling I recognize when people have told me I look pale. The sweats lasted about 5 minutes and the panicky feeling came and went for hours. The episode and the feat associated with it are combined enough so I can't completely tell them apart.
Avatar n tn I had cholesterol of 9.7 and with Lipitor it hovers around 4.2 now. I had my 18 year old son checked and his is 4.6 so he doesn't have my FH.

Avatar m tn I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.

Avatar f tn had coiling embolisation done with stent due to an unruptured aneurysm on the right ICA. returned to hospital afterwards due to TIA symptoms and was given Lipitor as cholesterol level was borderline and given just to make sure that it is not causing the "mini-stroke". I have been given Plavix and aspirin from the onset and I am still on it.

3170462 tn?1344717552 I was wondering if anyone here has experienced hair loss from taking a statin. My husband was placed on Lipitor about 5 months ago and has noticed that he's losing more than a normal amount of hair. His hairline isn't receding; it's thinning from all over.
Avatar f tn t know the reason of the shoulder pain. But my husband thinks that this is happening becoz of Liptor . He stopped taking lipitor and trying to take some Ayurveda medicine . He still complains about the should pain. Please advise.
Avatar m tn Hi all, My father had a triple by pass surgery about 18 months ago, and has been taking Lipitor, Perondopril and Atenolol. He's been getting abnormal hair growth on one side of his leg and back and chest since he's been on Lipitor, and Perondopril. I googled to see what I could find, and found this site saying that Lipitor can cause abnormal hair growth. http://www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this?
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
10996785 tn?1432812977 s from detox, pneumonia, and a stroke. with the stroke, which is considered small and deep in my cerebellum, my vision and balance was effected. My balance was already damage from the benzo's and alcohol abuse. Lately some of you might have read my last thread that I haven't been feeling well. Actually I haven't felt well for a very long time. I did see my PCP yesterday and we all agreed that the trazodone was the one med that was making me very sluggish.
Avatar n tn Has he talked to a doctor about his symptoms, and has blood been drawn to determine if there are adverse reactions with the Lipitor? I'm 67 also, had a heart attack nine years ago, but have a lot of stents in between, so your husband and I have lots in common! I also recently experienced increase fatigue, some unintended weight loss and I'm short of breath, and a stress test last week indicated new blockages, I'll see the doc next week to see what's next for me.
