Common Questions and Answers about Lipitor and body aches

lipitor

Avatar m tn At about 4 months after surgery, I changed statin and antacid medicines to Lipitor (80) and Nexium. Two weeks later, I started experiencing mild aching in the upper chest/esophogus area--a mild form of my heart attack/angina symptoms. I switched back to Aciphex at that time, but remained on Lipitor. At the six month after surgery point, I underwent a stress radionuclide test and another heart catheterization (required by my job). Both tests showed no problems.
329994 tn?1301663248 This is a question to those of you with CFS. I have been having aches in my ankles and legs, hard to describe but an all over aching and I have to move them around to make it feel better. My cardio doc thought it might be the Lipitor and it did get better off the Lipitor but hasn't gone away. I do notice it during the day but more at night when I am lying in bed. I just wonder if this is a symptom of CFS? Do others have it?
Tbd I had problems with aches and pains with Lipitor and switched. It reduced the amount of aches and pains, however try to add COQ10 with your meds. I have found that it helps a lot.
Avatar n tn * Severe muscle aching throughout the entire body * Muscle weakness * Dark or cola-colored urine These symptoms usually occur in the first 90 days of treatment and happen in less than 1% of those taking Lipitor. If you notice moderate or severe muscle aches after starting to take a statin, contact your doctor. If you have signs and symptoms of rhabdomyolysis, stop taking your statin medication immediately and seek medical treatment right away.
Avatar n tn I am 56 and in very good shape with a body fat of about 17%. I just had a lipid panel done and here are my numbers: HDL 113, LDL 131, Trg 36. My HDLs have always been very high, but never this high. I don't smoke, my BP runs 115/70 on average. I am on no meds. Should I be concerned? Thank you!
10996785 tn?1432812977 Hi buddy! My husband is on Lipitor, and was getting muscle aches...he started taking Co-Q10 (you can buy it at any drug store) and it helped a LOT...The only problem is that it can be expensive. I'm looking into buying it online...
Avatar f tn Headache is not an uncommon side affect of Lipitor. Other reported side affects include muscle aches, tenderness and weakness. Avatar n tn People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.
Avatar f tn Lipitor can cause muscle aches and pains but I don't believe going off of it would cause you continued distress. CoQ10 an enzyme that helps the muscles is a good idea to take when on Lipitor and when withdrawing from. It is good for people with FM to also take Omega 3, magnesium, and Calcium with D.
Avatar n tn I have been on Lipitor for about 8 years and started having leg pain and many muscle aches. Dr wanted an ultrasound for blood clots since I recently had surgery. Thank goodness there was no blood clots. SO I asked my dr if she thought it could be the lipitor. She never even thought about it. So she agreed and and I went off of Lipitor for 2 weeks and the pain almost stopped.
Avatar n tn Synthroid is 125 (micro-mg) 1 tablet a day. I take my Synthroid early in the morning and metmorphin after meals and lipitor in the night. It looks like for the last 3-4 months my weight has come to 55kg. I think last year my weight was 59kg. So what could be the reason for my weight loss? I walk everyday, my diet is good and healthy, my times for eating meals are very much on time, I am a strict vegetarian, milk, once a week tofu are the main sources of protiens.
Avatar n tn CPK is found in skeletal muscle and myocardium (heart muscle). Lipitor can cause various levels of elevation and associated symptoms like muscle aches, weakness and atrophy. The elevated CPK may be of no consequence or it may cause serious problems depending upon the degree of elevation and the symptoms. A severely elevated CPK can cause liver damage. I would consult with your physician to determine if this is a new finding.
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. These are good questions to discuss with your prescribing doctor. There are several in the class of cholesterol lowering medications that lipitor is in and there are a couple of adjust therapies that maybe would help as well. Your doctor will be the best to help guide you. Is it your LDL cholesterol that you are trying to lower?
10996785 tn?1432812977 Because cholesterol is necessary to health and to production of hormones and absorption and movement of fat soluble nutrients cutting it with a drug will have some beneficial consequences if cutting cholesterol is necessary (which it is much less often than the drug is given to people) but also negative consequences. Statins are also highly liver toxic. They should only be taken when absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn 10 mg/day of atorvastain (generic versin of Lipitor.) I started having muscle aches, so I take Co-Q10 every night (200 mgs.) It helps, but truth be told, I'm always in pain all over my body; I just suck it up (I have high pain tolerance.) But back to the subject of my post: Since I started the statin, but stomach and bowels are a mess. I've always suffered with IBS, but through diet and exercise it was well under control for the past 20 years.
Avatar n tn GOT PAIN IN L AND R ELBOWS L AND R HAND AND TO L AND R RING FINGER AND PINKIE. BURNS, TINGLES, ACHES, AND NUMBNESS.
Avatar n tn On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Lipitor for high cholesterol in 1997. In 2001, following a sleep study, I was found to have restless leg syndrom and prescribed Sinemet for the symptoms. Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet.
Avatar f tn I find at times I am normal but when Im normal I stop and think when are the aches coming and bang there and stay there.

1394098 tn?1385960134 ,but of course I have to continue the Riba and Interferon. Other than the fatigue my only real complaint is body aches. And they are becoming a major issue. It hurts everywhere. It's hard fir me to even hold my arms up long enough to blow dry my hair at times. I am on Tramadol due to a back injury I had before but it doesn't help much. Messages and warm baths help a little but only temporarily.
Avatar f tn My whole body aches even the back of my hair I'm 21 weeks are any of you ladies having or have had the same aches??
Avatar m tn pool is good because the warm water is soothing and i takes the weight off your tired body - until you get out - but thats the best place to do excersize - the best excersize for fibro is walking - all systems get help from this - and gentle stretching is important - slowly - i watched a yoga tape from the library for seniors and physically challenged and found one of my fav.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Oxycontin every day for the last month and im trying to stop and get it together. But the second day after i stop taking them i get the worst body aches and am so uncomfortable. I can't sit still, can't sleep, can't sit through school. It's terrible so in turn i just get more to take it away. Im determined to stop and was hoping for some good advice. what are good ways to deal with the body aches?
Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with severe, painful aches through my left leg. I assumed it was due to sleeping on my left side incorrectly or something- but it lasted all day long. I had my husband massage and stretch my leg before bed which unfortunately I think only made it worse. I slept on my right side last night to try to avoid discomfort on my left but woke up about 10-15 times through the night with the same pain shooting through my right arm. So.
Avatar m tn Over the last few days have developed aching in neck and shoulder area's and to be more specific, the shoulder area right in the joint area's. Although the pain did increase on the second day the pain has now reached its plateau and has stayed the same. Periodically taking anti-inflammatory medicine to help with some of the pain. Why such soreness in my neck and shoulder area without any extraneous physical activity?
4320028 tn?1365814475 every time i start new symptoms i never know if its the chiari or something else. Right now I've been having nausea for the last few days and body aches. I was just at the Dr about a week ago and put on antibiotics for an.upper respiratory infection so i don't think Im sick, does anyone have any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Very normal. Your body produces a hormone that helps relaxes your ligaments. This helps your uterus grow normally. Unfortunalely the hormone (relaxine) has action on all ligaments, not just those around the uterus, resulting in back pain and more or less everywhere pain. Good luck, i have been in pain since week 3 and am now in week 12, and it's not getting any better, so seriously good luck, hope it will pass quickly for you...
