Avatar f tn It gets embarrassing sometimes, because people point out the red ring around my mouth. Quite often. Does anybody know a brand of lip therapy that actually WORKS, or have another suggestion? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have never had a problem before but about three weeks ago my lips felt like they were getting chapped so I used lip balm , vaseline, estee lauder lip renue, but they are still chapped they feel dry and somewhat itchy. have been using neosporin lip therapy since yesterday and they fell better when it is on but back to dry the minute it wears off! They dont seem to be getting better.
Avatar f tn About 12 days ago I noticed my bottom lip started to swell. I had just used a new lipstick, the kind that stains the lips then you put on a clear coat. I have been using this type for many months. The lip was stinging, & burning along with the swelling. I also thought this was a reaction to some antibiotics I was on. I have never had this happen before. Now, 12 days later my lips are not swelled but they still have blisters that burn, even water from the shower burns them.
Avatar n tn Applying protective paraffin-based ointment (such as Vaseline) or lip balms to the lips is normally very effective. Also take Vitamin B supplements. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar f tn I think I got two cuts on my lips too so I have been trying to keep them covered from my cold sore with vaseline. I apply abrevia and vaseline to the sore multiple times every day. When I woke up this morning, I noticed little bumps on my bottom lip. They aren't red or white, they just blend in with my lip. They are visible if you look and feel them though. I have read that it could be because my chap stick is old.
Avatar n tn Im 22 and ive been having this lip peeling problem for about a year now, an the lip is dry and its peeling but it never bleeds...the thing thats worrying me, is that the skin under the peeling skin looks scally..an its straight dry, anything i put on it (vasiline, chap stick, water..a bunch of stuff from the doctor) it seems like it jus ***** it up...im believe its an "alergic reaction" but im want to know if my original skin is gonna grow back?
Avatar f tn As long as that Vaseline isn't burning like the other lip balms, do keep trying it- if it doesn't get better, do head to the doctor so they can get a better idea of what the cause is- heal up soon!
Avatar n tn Applying protective paraffin-based ointment (such as Vaseline) or lip balms to the lips is normally very effective. Also take Vitamin B supplements. If nothing works you can have a biopsy done to find out the cause. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapped_lips Some causes of the symptoms you mention, could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection.
Avatar m tn t peel it off, it becomes hard when dry but when I peel it off my lip becomes reddish and inflamed . i have tried so many different lip balms, they only moisturize my lips temporarily, please help help me i don't know what to do with it anymore? Is there a cream that I could use to heal the pigmentation in my lip?
Avatar n tn It has happened to me twice before (had used Avon lip balm then) and i applied Smyle herbal gel and Vaseline and it worked. This time though it is not working. I've been applying Smyle gel and Himalaya lip balm to cure it. If I use Nivea lip balm nothing happens though. it feels really nasty without anything on my lips and so I have to keep applying something. Please help...
Avatar n tn Hello. My toddler has a chapped lip too, just the upper middle part. It's been chapped for 1 mo. Dr. said it is NOT herpes, just chapped. Carmex turned her into lip balm addict. She pick constantly just to get more. Then I read about the camphor in it and pharmastist said NOT to use it for chapped lips b/c it's really desgined to dry out cancer soars, which she doesn't have. Pharmastist and Dr. both rec. vaseline -- white pet. jelly.
Avatar f tn I have had this problem, too, and I'm negative for HSV-1, so if it's the same as my problem, it isn't that. I found that using a soft toothbrush and warm water and GENTLY brushing my lips, and then applying Aquaphor or Vaseline (instead of lip balms or Chapstick) works. It's best to apply it before going to bed, because cells repair themselves at night. Also, if your bedroom is very dry, using a humidifier might help too. Try this for a week and it should help. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I thought they were just chapped. I started using regular vaseline and other types of lip balms you find at retail stores. I used so many different things from vitamins, lip balms, oils...you name it. I saw a doctor in October who prescribed me with Triamcinolone 0.1% to use for two weeks. After that didn't work I was given Nystatin & Triamcinolone for two weeks and that also didn't work. It took forever to get a dermatology appointment, finally I got one in January 2011.

Avatar m tn I would try Vaseline at night...I know it sounds gross, but it would be worth a try. Some websites say lip reduction surgery is something they refer to once they know other treatments don't work. Check out this website, it may help: http://exfoliativecheilitis.
Avatar f tn The dryness is mostly on my upper lip, spreading above the lip border on both sides of my lip. I have consulted a doctor and taken iron and vitamin B supplement which haven't work. I use lip balm every day as well.
Avatar m tn lower lips were extremely dry and had a scaly crust-like exterior which looks extremely terrible. I thought they were just chapped. Avatar n tn My 7 year old has a round rash about the size of a quarter right under her chin. She also has a small patch right under her lip. It was not there a couple hours ago. She says it burns. Any idea what this could be?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply, I have put soothing lip balm, vaseline and moisturizer on constantly throughout the day for 2 years. They do not help. It's not the fact that the rash is dry, its always there, always red, always noticeable.

Avatar n tn I woke up this morning and i noticed a tingling feeling on my upper lip, when i looked in the mirror, i noticed a bump on my lip. i didnt think anything of it and i left it alone, but throughout the day the tingling never went awat and it has gotten bigger, i tried putting vaseline on it but it only seems to be getting worse. i dont know if it's a cold sore or a reaction to something, i am no sexually active, and it's been a while since i kissed someone of the lips persay.
Avatar m tn What I wanted verify is will this will gradually reduce in size given more weeks? (back to flat; alignment with my lip level) ;normal. I want to Thank you for your help during my time of confusion. Thank you Dr.
Avatar m tn A PICTURE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u422/MissKilahBaby/Snapshot_20121119_1.jpg I am 16 years old and I am overweight, I do not eat healthy at all. Ever since the beginning of the year I've had this itchy patch of skin above my lips. During the summer it went away, but when I school started back up I got it again. This time it's worse because it's around my lip and a little bit on my lip. Vaseline does nothing but keep it moisturized.
Avatar f tn this is so random but since I was in the 7th grade I've had horrrrible problems with my lips. Doctor's can never diagnose it because they say I probably just lick my lips too much or something but that's not it. It's not that they get dry but the skin just becomes hard and loose and i have to peel at it. It happens every single day either in the morning or in the middle of the day after I have lip gloss on.
