Common Questions and Answers about Lip therapy products

Avatar n tn Over time, I also realized I was getting the same reaction even faster from lipstick and lipgloss. That meant I was allergic to all lip products across the board. I began researching into the symptoms and the ingredients in lip products, especially ones that commonly produced allergic reactions. With that knowledge in mind, I've tried many other balms these past months, including ones by Blistex and Kiss my Face. I'm even allergic to plain Chapstick.
Avatar n tn does anyone have experience of immune therapy? I know Barney mentioned it. I am also based in UK - Guildford. I am trying to boost my immune system with diet, supplements, meditation and exercise. I feel the stronger I can make it then the better chance I have and at least it should help protect me from the effects of the chemo.
Avatar f tn HI ALL! I am desperately seeking help for my lip allergy! For the past five years I have gradually trimmed away at the amount of products I can put on my lips without them breaking out and becoming irritated. At this point, I cannot wear any type of lipstick, no lip gloss, no chapstick, no beeswax, no Carmex, NOTHING....even plain petroleum jelly irritates the sensitive skin on my lips.
Avatar f tn Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Use a humidifier to moisturize the air in your home and apply shea butter or Vaseline on your lips. Topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids is required in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful. For that you have to consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Then I read about applying honey, which seemed to lessen the burn, but after a day they started to burn like before. Perhaps I applied the products too often? I found Neosporin Lip Health, Overnight Renewal Therapy (with white petroleum) and it has seemd to help as lips not as red or burning. I'm wondering if this is an allergery or just sunburned or severly chapped? I did notice a bit of white on lips but and perhaps small bubbling but (no peeling) don't know if it was from the products.
Avatar m tn I licked my lips to keep them moist, but they dried immediately and became sticky when pressed together. I started using lip balm, but this gave no relief. This condition has remained constant for the last 30 days. The lips remain dry and cracked, but there have been no blisters or sores--just dry, cracked lips which remain sticky when pressed together. Apparently that kid had some sort of lip infection and passed it on to me. Do the symptoms sound familiar, and is there a cure?
Avatar n tn So, it first started in november where my lips started to feel extremely dry and chapped. I continued to use burts bees lip balm, and this particular lip gloss. a few days later, i ended up getting little bumps on the right corner of my upper lip, and a bump in the middle of my bottom lip. it was not noticeable to others unless i really pointed it out.
Avatar m tn Sir, I am suffering from Vitiligo or Leucoderma of lower lip(half of that). I advised with a Dermatologist. He advised me the following medicines - 1. OCTAMOP 10mg 2. MELGAIN 3. PLACENTREX GEL Please advise me is the treatment on right tract? How much time it will take to cure permanently?
Avatar f tn about 5 months ago i went to a dermatitis and he said the reason for the chapped lips is due to using mint flavoured products and mint flavoured food and chewing gum. it has been 6 months since and i have just been using vaselene and it had made a large difference. Until a few days ago when quickly the whether changed and went from hot to cold and i was eating mint flavoured chewing gum which must had irritated my lips.
Avatar m tn I've lost my self confidence and I am embarrassed about going out and people commenting on my funny lip. It all started with a very dry plasticy upper lip that was a little soar when eating. Somehow after constantly applying vaseline and lipcare products it totally disappeared and I was back to normal. Then suddenly a little portion of the lower lip went dark. Being black I'm used to hearing that black skin takes longer to heal but this is seriously ruining my life.

Avatar n tn Medicated Lip Care (Walgreen's) and Blistex Medicated Lip Balm. I kept applying them as needed, i.e, whenever it wore off, so multiple times a day. I tried to keep the lip spot constantly covered. It worked for me, after several weeks of annoying lip itch/peeling/tingly spot.
Avatar f tn Hi. Try Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, it is much better than Vaseline for Accutane patients. Eloise.
Avatar n tn Im 22 and ive been having this lip peeling problem for about a year now, an the lip is dry and its peeling but it never bleeds...the thing thats worrying me, is that the skin under the peeling skin looks its straight dry, anything i put on it (vasiline, chap stick, water..a bunch of stuff from the doctor) it seems like it jus ***** it believe its an "alergic reaction" but im want to know if my original skin is gonna grow back?
Avatar f tn About Four years ago I got a spit on the top of my lip. It was a spot that took about a month to go away I'd say.. but the red blemish was there for atleast a few months after that. But then it went away. But this exact same place on my lip always seems to get a spot! Obviously that area has been damaged (don't know technical term).. So yet again I have this blemish on my lip and it seems to not be going away...

Avatar f tn About 12 days ago I noticed my bottom lip started to swell. I had just used a new lipstick, the kind that stains the lips then you put on a clear coat. I have been using this type for many months. The lip was stinging, & burning along with the swelling. I also thought this was a reaction to some antibiotics I was on. I have never had this happen before. Now, 12 days later my lips are not swelled but they still have blisters that burn, even water from the shower burns them.
Avatar n tn So frustrating because no amount or type of lip balm seemed to help (vaseline lip therapy, body shop lip salve, etc etc). Additionally, the skin above my upper lip became dry, red and irritated. About 2-3 weeks after that, I started experiencing swollen eyelids as well as dry, wrinkled, red, itchy patches above and below my eyes. I could not apply the most mild lotion to those areas because it would burn, but it was so dry I wanted to do something.
Avatar f tn My top lip is feeling better but the top lip never got as bad. My lower lip feels a little better but is still peeling more in the inner part of my lip and it seems a little raw still. The lower lip doesnt seem to be peeling quite as much as it use to so Im not sure if it is actually healing and the steroid is helping the skin to not peel as much.
Avatar f tn On November 12, 2014, I noticed the skin was getting dry above my upper lip so I put my eczema therapy lotion by Aveeno on it. It seemed to clear it up a bit, on November 13, I noticed there were tiny barely noticeable flakes above my upper lip so I used my exfoliating wipes my simple to get rid of them. I also decided to put my Desonide cream and my Econozale nitrate on it and on the morning of November 15th it was completely gone.
Avatar f tn Drink plenty of water and take multivitamin supplements and do not apply lipstick or other cosmetic products for some days. Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases. Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment and pimecrolimus cream are also useful but they should be used only after a dermatologist’s prescription.
Avatar f tn The customer reviews of the products were also helpful. Since I live alone I would rather have what I MAY need vs trying to run out to get it in a time of need. When the order arrives, I plan to put my ‘stuff’ into a RED ‘care box’ right next to my bed just in case I FORGET where I put it. I’m learning as I go along here. Nervous – yes –I take a lot of deep breaths – my therapist wants me to reach out more – and say what?
Avatar m tn It was on the same location on the upper left lip so I started to take valtrex, vitamin C and lysine to control the outbreak. The redish bump has subsided within the first two weeks but there is a lingering redish blemish that wont go away so it looks like I have a permanent cold sore on my upper lip. My general doctor tell me that let the time pass and it will heal but not seeing much progress and its been little over a month.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since when are you having the symptoms? What is your age? Do you smoke? Some causes could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection. You need to drink plenty of water daily – around 1.5 – 3 litres per day. Do not keep your lips dry; apply lip balm which contains sunscreen – preferably a medicated one.
Avatar m tn (First it is the top lip, then it goes to the bottom lip, or it goes side to side on the top lip, bottom lip, etc.) My lips swell to about four times their size if I don't get benadryl down fast. I use "Waldryl" from Walgreen's just as effective and way cheaper. I USE ONLY DYE-FREE BENADRYL, you could react from the red dye in regular benadryl if you have chemical allergies!! Avoidance is the only cure, so you need to find out what chemical (perfume, dye, etc.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. two days ago, I noticed some cold sores around my lower lip and mistakenly applied wart gel on it. It burned and later developed a dark looking spot around the area. what do I need to do to remedy this problem. Thank you.

Avatar f tn I am extremely confused as i take my medicine for hsv 1 daily the doc prescribes it twice a day for suppressive therapy. I know that it doesn't keep the ob from coming back but it aides in keeping the ob's far and few. I have not had an ob since november of last year and possibly one in March, but when speaking to my physician she doesnt think that the showing i had in march was an ob , but due to being sick with diarrhea and vomiting.
Avatar f tn Is this the same fellow you've been with since this all started or a different one? Definitely follow up on this with your provider this week to get tested for yeast and bacterial infections genitally and get your mouth symptoms looked at. Meanwhile be sure to avoid acidic and "hot" spicey foods since they can aggravate oral herpes. Also look at your lip products youa re using too - perhaps one of them is aggravating things too.
