Avatar n tn I have never had a cold sore that I have known of my entire life, but 4 years ago I went through a very stressful period and in the very center, more on the side than out of my lip I got these tiny sores. They were sensitive to spicy food and soda. I want to say it took well over a month for them to totally go and every so often if I drank soda i could feel a little tingly from the soda but nothing came back.

1132574 tn?1271676066 You can go back to being a vegetarian/vegan after you're well! You might google something like 'vitamin deficiency vegetarian' and see what pops up. I've not heard of Lyme giving mouth sores, but it does a lot of unexpected things. Let us know how you do and what you find out.
Avatar n tn in the last couple of months i have noticed recurring blisters on my lips. they are not cold sores, although i do get them occasionally and they are usually also accompanied by these blisters. they are small, sometimes liquid comes out of them and quite painful, they cause my lips feel uncomfortable, very tender and sometimes painful. i dont know whats caused this and what should i do to treat it.
Avatar m tn For the past month or so I have had a recurring blister in the same spot on my front, bottom, inner lip (left), It's clear with a little spec in the middle. I grows in size to approx 1/8 of an inch (3mm) I either try to pop it or when it grows to approx (1/4 inch) it pops on it's own...I used to chew tobacco on this side of my mouth so it's concerning ( quit over 2 years ago) my dentist looked at it, said he wasn't too concerned but gave me a referral anyways.
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Chapped_lips Some causes of the symptoms you mention, could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection. You need to drink plenty of water daily – around 1.5 – 3 litres per day and eat a balanced diet. Do not keep your lips dry; apply lip balm which contains sunscreen – preferably a medicated one.
Avatar f tn Hello, These itchy bumps can be due to contact dermatitis, allergic reaction, photodermatitis or vitamin B deficiency. Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve. Also take some oral antihistaminics like Benadryl and treat the lips with a mild Corticosteroid ointment. If the symptoms persist or you get sore blisters which scab over then the possibility of cold sores has to be ruled out.
Avatar m tn Yes, small tiny lumps on the inner side of lips can be blocked salivary glands or chancre sores or can be due to Vitamin B deficiency. It is difficult to comment without examining. Take a multivitamin pill and apply glycerine locally and see if there is any improvement. If symptoms persist consult your PCP. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar n tn I think part of my problem might be a vitamin B deficiency. One of the doctors here told me that vitamin B2 and B12 should be supplemented more. Well, I must need to get a better form of B12 then, because that's the one that it matters which form you use or your body doesn't even take it in and it will go right through you. These are water soluble vitamins, just so you know.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your quick response. I'd rule out vitamin B deficiency since I have a balanced diet and take a daily multivitamin. I'm not sure about atopic dermatitis. After researching that online, it appears that it affects external skin. Can it cause a rash inside my mouth (i.e. behing my lower lip)? I have been beginning to think that this rash may be related to kissing my ex-girlfriend.
Avatar n tn Everything I've read about cold sores or herpes on the lip sounds extremely painful. I don't have any of those symptoms.... its all very strange.
Avatar n tn Dry and cracked lips plus sores on mouth may also indicate a vitamin deficiency and along with other symptoms could indicate stomatitis. They say when you have problems with your stomach you will have problems with your mouth as well. A doctors visit would definitely help you pin-point what it is and a doctor could inform you more specifically when the cold sores are most contagious and what precautions must be taken to keep from passing to others.
Avatar f tn But I also started getting red, slightly puffy bumps right on the lip line on that same right side. This is the exact place where I get sold sores (have since I was 16), and I could feel tingling and burning, so I thought that's what it was and did my usual thing— Abreva, rounds of Valtrex. But the bumps never fully went away, just diminished and then flared back up. Mid-February, my lips became very, very chapped, and the red bumps flared all the time.
Avatar n tn They are generally caused by Stress, tissue injury, eating certain foods – including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables or underlying health condition, such as an impaired immune system; nutritional problems, such as vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency; and gastrointestinal tract disease, such as Celiac disease and Crohn's disease. Avatar n tn You should consult a skin specialist regarding this. Vitamin B and Vitamin C deficiency too can cause similar symptoms. Contact dermatitis is another possibility, hence you must check the creams, toothpastes etc that come in contact with your lips. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
4333925 tn?1359106042 I take it back to diet/nutrition too....vitamin B deficiency...(14,15,16 I think) start eating a greek yogurt a day....not the ones with fruit and flavorings to treat (see below)...my brother when he was little use to get these all the time and his pediatrician had him do....as I got older and I'd know someone who was having same problem would tell them to yogurt...yogurt is full of live bacteria that fight these kinds of things.. There are 7 foods that do this:.
Avatar m tn Then today (over a week later) i have another small spot coming up on my upper lip (again it is not on the border of the skin and lips, but rather on the lip). I looked up the symptoms of cold sores as i feared it might be that (although i have definately never had any cold sores before) and i couldnt decide if they were cold sores or not as i had none of the associated symptoms (e.g. no tingling at all, no sensitivity, no fluid filled blisters or clumps of blisters).
Avatar f tn He provides some very good common sense approaches that could prove vital for your life, because vitamin D deficiency can and does kill. Vitamin D deficiency really did prove nearly fatal for me. By the way, getting vitamin D from the sun is the sure fire way to never over dose on vitamin D, because the body has its own shut off mechanism in regards to getting vitamin D from the sun.
Avatar m tn These effects may be a manifestation of vitamin B complex, zinc, vitamin C, riboflavin and niacin deficiency.
