When I was younger (I am now 36), I also often bit my lip, but never remember the cuts developing into such painful sores. They would usually just heal up and go away immediately.
My question: is the infection of the laceration due to my HSV2? If so, is there anything that can help heal the sores faster?
Thank you for your answer. I am now 20 years old, it means I carry the virus for 10 years now. Well my lip in some place gets red and I can feel that a cold sore is about to pop up so I apply on it some zovirax cream and it's gone in 1-3 days. In other words, the cold sore doesn't even really form and it's gone before I know it. Then after few days the same thing happens in the same or other part of my lip and the cycle is repeated again and again. Also, I have 2 more questions.
Also, I believe there was only 3 blisters (not in cluster) apart from each other and bigger than a pimple exactly in the areas that I licked my lips.
Is it true that cold sores usually appear in the same spot?
They don't hurt, only when I picked at them and they didn't itch. The bump did itch but I don't remember tingling.
They have only leaked blood. I did get that yellowish film over right before the scab but I assume that's just the scab forming.

Late last week I noticed I had a small blister on my bottom lip that was somewhat painful. I thought that after a couple days that it would heal itself but now it has actually gotten worse. I've developed other smaller blisters around my bottom lip and it seems that the infection has spread. I was using a medicated chapstick and I'm assuming it made my lips worse and spread the infection across my bottom lip.
s very distinct, it looks like a bunch of red poky dots , different that how it looks on the lip. There are poky dots that can appear on the soft palate , that can look exactly like herpetic lesions, if they don't hurt, that's not herpes, it's from a non bacterial or viral origin , and I am not going to tell Mammo what it is!
I have a lip balm for cold sores so I'll switch to that and see what happens.

Well, it doesn't sound like you have HS-1. I can tell by your description that you are as faithful as I am with my BF, but your description of the sore split lip indicates that unless the culture comes back positive, it's just a split lip. I get really bad chapped lips in the fall and wintertime, and last year I did, too. I carry Chapstick around in all my pockets, purses and coats, all the bathrooms, the car...you know. Everywhere.
I have had the herpes simplex virus for many years and have had many cold sore/fever blister "breakouts" over the years.
My most recent "breakout" became a blister on my top lip. As usually happens, I pierced the blister with a sterile needle for drainage. A very slight amount of drainage occurred. The following day, the blister was just as noticeable as before, so I attempted drainage again.
I used a vitamin E lip balm to soothe my lips while they healed. I read that angular chelitis can be caused by iron deficient anemia, which I have, so I am taking an iron supplement as well. Good news; the cracks are healing and subsiding. Bad news; I developed an outbreak of herpes lesions all around my lips about a week or two into the healing of the angular chelitis. I have never had a sore in more than one spot, usually a small area on one side of my upper or lower lip.

This morning I woke up feeling a weird bump on the middle of my lip. It feels like a fat lip in inside..with cuts. This is located in my inner middle lip. On my outter middle lip..directly opposite of my fat lip and cuts..has been what looks like 3 small blisters. These blisters formed when I popped and squeezed clear pus out of. I have been told that herpies don't form inside of the lip but outside. I have been tested last year for STD/HIV/Herpes.
We also had oral sex before we found out we had it. I developed a sore and after a few days it went away. 6 month later I developed a sore same spot only it took longer to heal so I went to dr and swab confirmed hsv2. I've been symptom free 3 years until last month when I had a pretty bad outbreak.
a half into my time i started biting my lip(I thought from dry lips) and as i was biting my lips this how it started, at first i was biting my lips and there where no bumps or sores on my bottom lip, I had bit it one day and it bled really good...it ended up scabbing up and turning black and i would repeatdely bite that one spot and sometimes it got bigger and bled most of the time as it was im assuming healing up..
After a week i had a blister on my lip which was very painful and didnt heal until 2 weeks i had a single lymph node under my jaw which was aching .i went to a doc and he gave me a cortisone cream .but my lip cant seem to heal it keeps burning and if i stop using medicine its surface gets badly damaged .its been 2 month now and some new lymph nodes on my neck have arrived which ache a bit .im worried what shud i do .does this sound like a herpes outbreak ?kindly guide me in this regard.
Hello, I am 14 years old and i have this problem with my lips. It started in the middle of July when I had lost my vaseline for 3 days. My lips went without anything on them for this time and became dry and chapped. I did not like how they looked and i decided to exfoliate with warm water and a toothbrush. I noticed that i may have exfoliated to roughly when the skin grew back and would become white with water. I had brought some blistex because i wanted to find a cure to this.
