Avatar f tn I have a sore on my tongue that's been there awhile. The ear nose & throat doctor said it is irritation & hard to heal. I'm taking Lysine tablets 500 mg 3xs daily. Just started .I have seen L-Lysine ointment by basic organics. People use it for core sores & ulcers on the inside of lip. Would it be safe to dab a small amount on my tongue to help battle this condition faster. It is painful & very frustrating.
745313 tn?1323142298 s been getting a line of sore spots along his top lip. Not blistery sores like canker sores or fever blisters, just very small, VERY angry red spots that are very sore. Is this something anyone else has dealt with? And if so, HOW did you deal with it?
Avatar f tn On Thursday I saw the dermatologist and he said it was likely a bad bacterial infection, gave me strong ointment and antibiotic Clindamycin HCL, the ointment Altabax retapamulin 1% and said if it didn't at least feel a little better in the morning go to the hospital. I entered the emergency room Friday morning in major pain, and with a disfigured face. I was admitted Friday evening and given an iv drip with 6 rounds of antibiotic.
Avatar n tn So, it first started in november where my lips started to feel extremely dry and chapped. I continued to use burts bees lip balm, and this particular lip gloss. a few days later, i ended up getting little bumps on the right corner of my upper lip, and a bump in the middle of my bottom lip. it was not noticeable to others unless i really pointed it out.
Avatar f tn I had a cold sore on my lip (dried) and I applied ointment with my fingers. About two hours later I changed a baby's diaper without washing my hands. I used baby wipes and then applied diaper rash cream. Could I have spread my cold sore to the baby?
Avatar n tn I have had a red bump above my lip for the last two weeks. At first I thought it was a zit, then I thought it was a cold sore and treated it with Abreva. After 4 or 5 days treating it, nothing happened. Now it looks like a cold sore may have been there (it's a little whitish and indented in the middle) but I don't think it ever came to a head. Is this just the memory of a cold sore and a resulting scar or something I should have checked out?
Avatar f tn My fiance and I had sex that night then the next day the sore was worse and then I developed a couple more sore places there on the inner side of my vagina lip. I have been treating it with a triple antibiotic ointment called Bacitracin, it's suppose to be better than Neosporin. They sores seemed to be getting a little better after a couple days of treating them with this ointment. Then my fiance and I had sex again 3 nights ago and now the sores are worse again.
Avatar f tn I have been using blistex medicated lip ointment and I am also kinda wondering if the swelling could be a reaction from that. Thoughts? Do you think it's herpes if I do not have any sores?
Avatar n tn I have fluid-filled blisters all over my upper lip. They are on the lip it self as well as the edge, covering my whole upper lip. They aren't inside. They aren't cold sores (I've had cold sores and these aren't it). They are not itchy or painful. They didn't go through the cold sore stages. If I pop the blisters, my lips taste sour and the blisters form again.
Avatar f tn Zovirax ointment doesn't do a lot for cold sores anyways and it's incredibly overpriced unless you have good insurance. At this point - if your child's doctor is unconcerned, ask for a consult to a pediatric dermatologist. Confirm that indeed this is hsv1 related - 6 recurrences in 2 months is incredibly high even for oral herpes so it needs a further evaluation to make sure that it really is herpes going on.
Avatar m tn I have consantly suffered from cold sores which has resulted with some scaring on my lips, The scarring has removed some areas of the pigment from areas on my lips were i had the sores. But around 3 or 4 weeks ago on my left upper lip there is an area about 1 centimeter in size right along the border of my lip, this area is thin and is lossing color for a reason that i can not figure out.
Avatar f tn Already had 4 times since I started tx. Blistex (medicated lip ointment) helps me if I apply it right away once I feel the very first signs. The sores don't stay long and are not big, they go away completely in 2-3 days. But this is just me. Everybody is different. I hope you don't get them so often now. Good luck. A.
Avatar f tn I have this strange patch in the middle of my bottom lip, it feels really dry and strange. It has no pigment and you can’t see it on my lips. I only got it a couple days ago and about 5 days ago I got this new Carmex lip balm and it was so great it made my lips really smooth and felt great, then it started making my lips burn out if the blue! That’s when I got the patch so I’ve avoided the carmex and used Lucas paw paw ointment which I’ve never had problems with but this won’t go away!
Avatar f tn Canker sores or cold sores .... they can be treated by taking high doses of vitamin C 2,000 to 5,000 mg until gone. Keep up on the vitamin C about 60 mg per day and they probably won't come back.
Avatar m tn I licked my lips to keep them moist, but they dried immediately and became sticky when pressed together. I started using lip balm, but this gave no relief. This condition has remained constant for the last 30 days. The lips remain dry and cracked, but there have been no blisters or sores--just dry, cracked lips which remain sticky when pressed together. Apparently that kid had some sort of lip infection and passed it on to me. Do the symptoms sound familiar, and is there a cure?
558059 tn?1288550944 Hi I'm on 100mg Levothyroxine (diag 3 years ago) One of my problems is very dry patchy skin on my face... the skin peels off leaving raw patches which sometimes take 6 weeks to heal. My lower lip is also affected and peels off & splits & burns ===Different creams & potions have been tried to no avail. I thought maybe it was a bad reaction to the whitening agent in toothpaste -but I stopped using it & my lip is still affected.
1514444 tn?1290442669 I regularly get a small painful whitehead on my lips. I can feel them coming on, like a tingling in my lip, and then a very painful whitehead appears that feels like it is holding a lot of pressure that needs to be released. It is just one spot and not blistery like a cold sore. I do get cold sores inside my nose and take Valtrex because they happen so often. Because I take Valtrex on a daily basis which prevents my nose breakouts, I do not think this is herpes.
Avatar n tn My daughter started to develop "pimple-like" sores above her upper lip over six weeks ago. We tried Abreva (for approx. 10 days) and it didn't help. We went to doctor and they prescribed Valtrex, which she took for 5 days. In addition, she was prescribed a anti-biotic ointment. No luck. We went back to the doctor and she is now on an oral and topical antibiotic. Doctor can't tell if it's cold sores, impetigo, staph, etc. Nothing seems to be working.
Avatar f tn I am concerned I might have a cold sore. It is on the center of my bottom lip, on the lip, but it doesn't itch or burn. It is merely tender and a raised slightly darker bump. I have never had herpes before and I would like to know what to do to slow down the infection or to speed up the healing progress. Thanks.
Avatar m tn The main issue of concern is a very small area above my upper lip. One of my worst fears is cold sore, HSV-1 infection. I may have ruled this out, but I would appreciate a professional opinion. Just above my lip is a small red area, a little bit rough but the texture really is no different from the rest of my facial skin. I thought it might be shaving irritation, but the blade does not hit that area when shaving.
Avatar f tn Two days later 4 or 5 of similar new ones showed up, each has yellow liquid inside and very much resembles herpes cold sores. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was herpes. I did not do any blood test though. However, I read on some posts that the first outbreak of oral herpes is rarely on the chin, cause it's not as sensitive an thin as the skin on the lips or lip line. I never had an outbreak before though.
Avatar m tn Hello again Dr. Bhupinder Kaur, So I just gave it time to heal and applied Polysporin™ which didn't seem to work. One corner seems to okay, but the right one seems to have flared up! It almost looks like I am sticking my tongue out, embarrassing. I bought an ointment called, "Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment". I am wondering if this would help me situation out. Please get back to me Doctor. :) ps. http://peaceableimperatrix.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/lip-oint72.
Avatar n tn Applying protective paraffin-based ointment (such as Vaseline) or lip balms to the lips is normally very effective. Also take Vitamin B supplements. If nothing works you can have a biopsy done to find out the cause. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapped_lips Some causes of the symptoms you mention, could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection.
Avatar n tn Hello sirs, I have a specific question concerning HSV-1. For the past 4 years I have suffered from oral herpes. When the symptoms first appeared I thought they were just pimples on my lip. They are usually small and never turn into "traditional" cold sores. I use Zovirax ointment and a high lysine diet to treat them and with time the outbreaks have become less severe and less frequent.
