Avatar m tn I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.
Avatar f tn My doctor has also prescribed a 2% lidocaine viscous solution that I can use on my tongue or cheeks that enables me to eat comfortably when it is particularly painful. In my case, I was predisposed to this by hepatitis C for which I had been successfully treated for a year. It was shortly after I finished the treatment that I began having the symptoms of LP. It's not pleasant, but it is manageable and it can be kept under control.
Avatar n tn It came on really quickly and the doctor has me on Prilosec and antacids after meals and at bedtime, and she just added viscous lidocaine solution to numb the esophagus. I'm eating a low acidic diet and combining my foods properly. Has anyone out there had this terrible thing and if so, any other suggestions?

5432782 tn?1368806956 Hi Growzer, I'm in Canada, too. Do you have access to a walk-in clinic? Most docs know about Magic Mouthwash. You can also make it yourself in a pinch: equal parts Mylanta, children's Benadryl and viscous lidocaine. The lidocaine can be purchased without a prescription (it's kept behind the counter). Keep in a clean bottle in the fridge, shake well before using as needed. This will tide you over until Tuesday.
Avatar f tn I talked with my PCP tonight and he has doubled my Clonidine (.1 mg twice a day now) and also ordered viscous LIdocaine for me to swallow before I eat so that I can keep food down. Viscous Lidocaine is basically this clear goupy stuff that numbs your throat and stomach. It is almost exclusively prescribed to people with stomach cancer. I told him how angry I was and how badly I feel and he told me it WILL get better, but that everyone is different.
Avatar m tn I went to dentist , and he referred to to an oral surgeon right away. Oral surgeon said it was a pigment that had developed from tx. I would check it out so you can treat it asap.
673999 tn?1226935279 The new standard inoffice bladder instillation for IC is Lidocaine instillation with bicarbonate solution. The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour).
1264863 tn?1391118193 Hi- nothing cures these things! Look for a mouthwash/spray containing Benzydamine hydrochloride. Most everything is a prescription and doesn't always help. Ask your pharmacist if he'll give you some viscous lidocaine to swish around. He may have other suggestions of new stuff I don't know about ... stick with bland foods and liquids; drink through a straw. I feel badly for you...
Avatar f tn t eat solid food - but they were one of the first sx to leave at EOT. My Dr. recommended a weak salt/soda solution like they sometimes use for chemo patients and when all else failed, an RX of Magic Mouthwash that totally numbs the mouth. I feel for you - it was one of my worst sides - I couldn't hardly talk for my tongue touching my teeth. I also ate LOTS of cold unsweetened applesauce that helped make both the nausea and mouth sores a little more bearable.
1654058 tn?1407159066 is the term given to a solution prepared by pharmacists and used to treat mouth sores (oral mucositis). Oral mucositis can be extremely painful and can result in an inability to eat, speak or swallow. Magic mouthwash may be used to treat mouth sores that result from some forms of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. There are many versions of magic mouthwash. Your doctor will likely write a prescription listing the ingredients and the amount of each.
Avatar n tn I had the lidocaine block as a diagnostic test to indicate that I was a good candidate for sinus surgery, and would not recommend it as a long-term treatment or solution. The lidocaine made the pain in my nose, right eye, and upper teeth disappear almost instantly, but also made it hard for me to breathe or swallow for almost two hours afterwards. It made me nauseous as well, and the pain came back as soon as the lidocaine-saturated cotton was removed from my sinus cavity.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected oral sex a week ago. A couple days ago I started noticing a yellow discharge from my penis. I was randomly tested for chlamydia and gonorhee about a month ago and all came up negative. We had unprotected oral for only a couple minutes and used a condom for vaginal sex. It does not burn when I pee but this discharge has been throughout the entire day the last few days. Could this be anything other than an STD? What are the chances I got an STD from just oral?
Avatar n tn Approx. 12 yrs ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes, I have always been faithful to my husband and don't understand how this happened. My husband and I have had several discussions about this. We are wondering if He could have given HSV-2 to me. Twice between the time we met 19 yrs ago and the time I was diagnosed he had severe blister lesions in his throat and was wondering if perhaps he may have HSV-2 in his throat. He has had this outbreak 3 times in 25 yrs.
Avatar n tn At the time of the test, I was still taking viscous lidocaine for throat ulcers. Used two 100 ml bottles in four weeks, just started third bottle. I seem to either be having a gastroparesis flare or something else. Nausea until I eat in the morning, abdominal pain after eating, gurgling, weight loss, no appetite, difficulty in staying even hydrated. I supplement with ensure. Throat ulcers are two: larger than a quarter, one on each side of the uvula.
Avatar f tn The itching by this point has subsided. So I started applying aloe gel with. 5% lidocaine. This is a miracle as it numbs very nicely. It is now day 7 and I have even more raw spots, and it now really hurts to pee. Like after giving birth. I am 36 yrs old 3 children 15-18 yrs old. I have experienced yeast infections previosly. Also by late in day 3 I had peeling of the exterior vulva skin. On day 2 the itchy was unbearable and I was dumb and tried a home remedy I read all over online.
Avatar f tn No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end. We just want to get back to our normal life's.
1409114 tn?1323866002 I had brief unprotected oral, kissing, protected vaginal, I massaged the woman's labia with my thumb, touched her labia for a send with my tongue, and she masturbated me. Currently my semen is yellow and I may have seen a white discharge that looks like precum from my penis which could actualy be precum coz I was aroused. I 've read that yellow semen might be gonorrhea. What do u think and how can I be sure. thx.
Avatar f tn Ask them to prescribe a 5% transdermal lidocaine patch and a few days of oral prednisone. Oral prednisone has many contraindications but if used for a short period you will have no problems.
Avatar n tn Currently on 30MG Cymbalta to cope with the depression and 2% viscous lidocaine applied intranasally. I found a very dedicated ENT willing to think outside the box. He cut tissue connecting my nasal septum and middle turbinate and then brushed phenol on the middle turbinate. I thought I would get relief when he took the packing out but I didn't. The pain seems to be at the base of my sphenoid sinus, further up than the middle turbinate.
Avatar n tn Lidocaine used as an anesthetic often has a small amount of epinephrine in the solution. The amount is so small that I have never heard of it causing tachycardia, although this is theoretically possible. Lidocaine and epinephrine is used in the suturing of millions of wounds every year with no cardiac events. My guess is that that is a coincidence here. The temporary fast heart rate in the absence of chest pain, pressure or other symptoms should have no long-lasting effects whatsoever.
