14051 tn?1238251732 So, with that said, This morning, I had the same effects with the steroid/Lidocaine injection in my right hip/Trochanter as I did prior to the hardware removal. I immediately felt a sharp pain in the right side of my back when the doctor realeased the first part of the medicine, then I could feel fast relief in my right foot, leg, hip, groin, back. My doctor has no answers as to why it relieved the other pains. This again lasted only for 45 minutes.
Avatar n tn Usually, a local injection of lidocaine, then a small excision in the office, and usually not much bleeding at all and usually no stitches. Quick and easy hopefully. Helps if your surgeon has good skills.

Avatar m tn They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
Avatar n tn She still has 1 filling left to get and frankly I am a little unsure about her having it done. The paramedics asked the dentist what she gave her and she told them lidocaine and epinephrine.
Avatar n tn Not very long time ago, I've found out that I'm allergic to lidocaine I have really horrible allergy on my face, around eyes and mouht area. I'm really fobic to go to the dentist and now it makes me suffer even of thinking I have to go, because they can't give me an anaestetic! I know, that there's two groups of 'caine' anaestetic, but how can I found out which one I'm allergic to? Which one can be used by a dentist on me?Who could do a test for me?
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
673999 tn?1226935279 The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour). In my clinic if 5 daily instillations is effective in treating the pain, I teach patients how to instill the solution themselves and give them a script for the supplies and solution for at home use. Good Luck.

Avatar m tn Also I am prescribed lidocaine patches. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic. I apply the patches to the affected area, they can be left on for up to 12 hours then you have 12 hours off. They work pretty well too particularly when it come to wearing shoes. That all that has been suggested to try by my pain Dr. I hope it helps.
Avatar n tn Everyone keeps telling me this is normal due to an increased volume at the injection site which is causing inflammation around the nerve. But, I have been on NSAIDs for 5 days and wearing a lidocaine patch on the injection site with no relief. Please help. I am terrified this is permanent. I just feel like no one is listening to how serious this could potentially be.

Avatar n tn Yesterday I had my first injection. It was quite painful even with numbing the injection point with Lidocaine first. It was over rather quick but I could not stand on that leg when leaving the office. I needed a wheel chair to get to my car. The office staff waved me off without any warnings or concern.
Avatar n tn Your childs seizure was almost definitely caused by the Lidocaine. Local anesthetics can cause seizures and is based on the total dose. Even a small dose of local anesthetic injected directly into an artery takes the local anesthetic directly to the brain and induces a seizure. It is specifically for that reason that there are limits to the total amount of local anesthetic used at a time.
Avatar f tn In severe cases a local nerve block can be done at the inguinal ligament using a combination of local anaesthetic (lidocaine) and corticosteroids to give relief that may last several weeks. Pain modifier drugs for neuralgic pain such as amitriptyline, carbamazepine or gabapentin are often tried but this can be difficult to treat. Surgery is advised when all other treatments fail but leaves you with permanent numbness in the leg.

Avatar f tn Hi, I recently had carpal tunnel surgery and the doctor used local freezing on my wrist. He wasn't wearing gloves and didn't use an alcohol wipe before he injected the freezing into my hand. If he had dry blood on his fingers and felt my wrist where the puncture site was on my skin, could he push bacteria like a blood borne pathogen, HIV, HEP C into my bloodstream? he then scrubbed up after when he started to perform the surgery.
680409 tn?1234315083 Occasionally a very small amount of local anesthetic such as lidocaine is also injected with the mixture. This is to reduce abnormality of the function of the nerves in the spinal canal.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
