They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain.
Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
She still has 1 filling left to get and frankly I am a little unsure about her having it done. The paramedics asked the dentist what she gave her and she told them lidocaine and epinephrine.
Not very long time ago, I've found out that I'm allergic to lidocaine I have really horrible allergy on my face, around eyes and mouht area. I'm really fobic to go to the dentist and now it makes me suffer even of thinking I have to go, because they can't give me an anaestetic! I know, that there's two groups of 'caine' anaestetic, but how can I found out which one I'm allergic to? Which one can be used by a dentist on me?Who could do a test for me?
In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation.
I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
Also I am prescribed lidocaine patches. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic. I apply the patches to the affected area, they can be left on for up to 12 hours then you have 12 hours off. They work pretty well too particularly when it come to wearing shoes.

Everyone keeps telling me this is normal due to an increased volume at the injection site which is causing inflammation around the nerve. But, I have been on NSAIDs for 5 days and wearing a lidocaine patch on the injection site with no relief. Please help. I am terrified this is permanent. I just feel like no one is listening to how serious this could potentially be.

Even a small dose of local anesthetic injected directly into an artery takes the local anesthetic directly to the brain and induces a seizure. Hi, I recently had carpal tunnel surgery and the doctor used local freezing on my wrist. He wasn't wearing gloves and didn't use an alcohol wipe before he injected the freezing into my hand. If he had dry blood on his fingers and felt my wrist where the puncture site was on my skin, could he push bacteria like a blood borne pathogen, HIV, HEP C into my bloodstream? he then scrubbed up after when he started to perform the surgery.
It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
