Lidocaine in the eye

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine in the eye

lidoderm

Avatar f tn Does the fact that the lidocaine eliminated the pain have any implications for why my eye is still hurting? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Lie?! on what purpose I tell you a lie? were a doctor don't deserve to be worried? I've read some article here and there which said that it's a risk, and some say that it's a no risk... some said that you should take a PEP, and some say you shouldn't take it because you don't have to... some said there's should be some quantity of blood and a few drop of blood in the eye won't infect you... which one is the most likely correct statement? btw okay then...
Avatar f tn I also meant to mention that I have been tested for dry eye and my tear production is in the normal range. They have already ruled out trigeminal neuralgia, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, and may other conditions and dieseases. Thank you for your response. Any other ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated! :) Thanks again!
Avatar m tn The ophthalmologist said via a nurse, that he has given many people with caine allergies this drug without reactions as Lidocaine in the eye reacts differently than in other parts of the body. I need another opinion on that. Actual consultation with any ophthalmologist at this clinic is difficult. I have no idea what type of surgery they will perform regarding removal of the old lens, what type of new lens they will insert adaptive or fixed.
Avatar f tn Okay got swab done doc says its an outbreak at the tail end. I have a question how easy is this to transfer from area to the eye. I am afraid I may have accidentally rubbed my eye. Now im worrying.
Avatar n tn I had the lidocaine block as a diagnostic test to indicate that I was a good candidate for sinus surgery, and would not recommend it as a long-term treatment or solution. The lidocaine made the pain in my nose, right eye, and upper teeth disappear almost instantly, but also made it hard for me to breathe or swallow for almost two hours afterwards. It made me nauseous as well, and the pain came back as soon as the lidocaine-saturated cotton was removed from my sinus cavity.
Avatar m tn Getting lidocaine for wisdom tooth extraction--felt the needle going in and woke up 45 minutes later in ER. I had had a seizure! Hundreds of shots for teeth over the years, never any such experience. Surgeon swore he found no blood in syringe and couldn't understand why I seized. Swore he did everything right, never heard of lidocaine causing a seizure this way. Apologized profusely. I'm now worried about completing the extraction, which has to be done.
Avatar f tn None of your patients have ever complained about the searing pain - like a red hot poker in the eye? Wow. I am flabbergasted because this is the most painful thing I have ever experienced. The procedure you do - is it Laser photocoagulation? I am really, really surprised. I will ask my doctor about the injection of lidocaine. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Some people ice the area (personally I think the cold hurts worse than the teeny needle poke)...Others have been able to get a 2% lidocaine gel from their pharmacist (usually used for premature ejaculation issues) and apply that to the area, but most just do it cold turkey... Have you started your shots yet? If so, and you are worried about the needle, it is a very teeny and short little thing and, when you finally get brave enough to "just do it", you barely feel it.
Avatar n tn MS is not directly inherited, but genetics play an important role in who gets the disease. While the risk of developing MS in the general population is 1/750, the risk rises to 1/40 in anyone who has a close relative (parent, sibling, child) with the disease." http://www.nationalmssociety.org/about-multiple-sclerosis/what-we-know-about-ms/who-gets-ms/index.
1503794 tn?1289543525 Plaquanel can affect the eye but it causes problem on the inside back of the eye. Your problem would require looking at the eye but JRA patients have problems with surface dryness and it might be a pingueculum. Steroids could cause cataracts but again that's inside the eye. Your sympmtoms sound like you may have a dry eye.
Avatar m tn I make sure I have a driver and take pain meds before I leave the house. The the doc using a lidocaine gel for the stretching, afterward I keep an insta ice pack with me and apply ice immediately under my clothes. I have some small ones. I also find taking AZO before hand and for the first day or so afterward helps. Truthfully, I have done it with no pain meds and with something to relax me etc.
Avatar f tn re still following it just in case. Throw the 5 kids in and ... you get the idea. But now, even when the pain was really bad over New Year's, I can deal with it. I'm hoping someone here has had experience with the lidocaine infusion. It sounds somewhat promising. Not a permanent fix but something is better than nothing. And it's a much easier procedure than the stellate ganglion block. I'm focusing on being more positive in 2011.
Avatar m tn only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..

Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.
Avatar f tn When she was in the hospital in the beginning I think they thought she was faking and were really mean about it. I refuse to let anyone be that way to her. I keep searching have taken to counseling etc, they said they thought she was fine. She had a year of illness before this so I was always trying to connect the dots.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
383138 tn?1314167773 But since I had such severe heart reaction to just a shot of lidocaine at dentist in the past, the cardiologist said I am lucky I didnt go into cardiac arrest at that time and if they put lidocaine in me again he said my heart may suddenly fail (sudden cardiac arrest) and it may not be able to recover next time. And the warnings on lidocaine (even for people w/out heart problems) are such things as: rare but possible arrhythmias and cardiac arrest.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Avatar f tn Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn Can it be that your girl friend has used lidocaine ointment for pain in vagina? Lidocaine can affect your glans, causing you feeling of numbness. I hope some one come out with appropriate answer to solve your problem. This is a delicate question. Did anyone else experience similar problem with her. I understand that this quite a delicate question. However, if you have continue relationship, you might have to ask frank question. It is again intruquing Sp?
Avatar n tn Three weeks ago I had a migraine headache that woke me up in the middle of the night. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the right eye with an ice pick. The migraine was located on the right side of my head and remained unilateral (in terms of pain). This lasted for 3-4 hours. I took Excedrin Migraine (which usually helps) but it didn't put a dent in this.
Avatar f tn Afrin liquid down my nose, which ran down my throat (she never told me what she was putting in, I saw the labels after she was done). I started to fell like my throat was swelling. She left and 5 mins later the doctor came in and had an NP that was shadowing. He introduced the NP and said he was going to take a look at me. He looked in my ears, nose, & mouth with the light.
Avatar m tn Hello and Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. I am sorry that this has happened to you. Urine drug screens are looking for narcotics, THC and similar substances. Lidocaine is from the "cain" drug family of local numbing agents and not the "caine" drug family of cocaine an opiate. In spite of the similarity in names, these drugs are not very closely related chemically and their chemical structures are very different.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
306455 tn?1288862071 LOL I will be the first to try the lidocaine suit. Let me know when it comes out. I have to tell you why I'm in such pain right now. Picture this or better yet try it LOL: sit on the floor, spread your legs apart as far as they will go, then bend over so your face is as close to the floor as possible, now hold this position for about 6 hours and repeat everyday for 2 weeks. This has been my job for the last 2 weeks, painting a rug on a floor.
Avatar f tn For the past year and a half I have been dealing with severe pain. We have done MRI's, Bone Scans, Xrays etc. and the one thing we found is a mid-size hemangioma in the T6 where all my pain is from - this is new from the MRI I had done 4 years ago after a car accident. I understand most doctors believe that they are no symptoms but I have a hard time accepting this when it is exactly where my pain is. The pain is not muscular - we have done 14 trigger injections twice with NO relief.
