Lidocaine gargle

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine gargle

Avatar f tn The vast majority of patients say that the worst part is either (1) the i.v., or (2) the numbing gargle medicine (viscous lidocaine). In the past year, I've only had 2 patients say that the TEE itself was worse than the gargle. As far as the patient is concerned, this test is basically the same as an EGD (a scope to look at the stomach). Many more people have this test than a TEE, and it too is a quite safe test. I bring it up because you may have a friend who has had one.
1264863 tn?1391121793 Most everything is a prescription and doesn't always help. Ask your pharmacist if he'll give you some viscous lidocaine to swish around. He may have other suggestions of new stuff I don't know about ... stick with bland foods and liquids; drink through a straw. I feel badly for you...
5432782 tn?1368810556 equal parts Mylanta, children's Benadryl and viscous lidocaine. The lidocaine can be purchased without a prescription (it's kept behind the counter). Keep in a clean bottle in the fridge, shake well before using as needed. This will tide you over until Tuesday. Your Dr may want to add an antifungal if thrush is part of your problem. This is the ONLY thing that's helped me over the last 36 weeks. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I was treated with Diflucan, no response, then a Bacterial antibiotic, no response, then three types of Mouth rinses, Magic Mouthwash, Lidocaine, and something else containing an antibiotic, didn't work. WHAT WORKED, was baking soda prescribed by a Ears nose and throat specialist at a local ER I went to. I got so sick, i could no longer swallow and I couldn't take the pain. I don't know if you have the same thing but if it doesn't rub off its not thrush.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed an antibiotic (Ceftin - I'm allergic to quite a number of antibiotics so have to be careful what I take) and also a gargle/mouthwash called Magic Mouthwash that has lidocaine, benadryl and Maalox in it that I can gargle with four times a day to help numb my throat and ease the pain. I've used it twice so far and have not had ANY improvement of the throat pain, even right after using the gargle.
114870 tn?1210301946 She does backing soda gargle and that relieves for a bit. Is there anything that can be used to get rid of these sores.
Avatar f tn I can understand your doc not wanting to give you oral pain meds, since you are already having trouble swallowing and aren't able to eat - you more than likely would hav ea very difficult time taking the pain meds - however, he could have prescribed you a throat/mouth gargle that contains a lidocaine type medication that would help numb your throat and mouth so that maybe you'd at least be able to get some liquids down.
Avatar n tn the outbreaks are so severe he can't swallow at all and has to use viscous lidocaine to gargle with in order to function.
Avatar m tn He prescribed me Z-Pac and Flonase and he also told me to use saline spray to clean out my sinus. In addition he advised me to gargle with salt water. He notified me that my ears and nose were completely clogged. I took the Z-Pac and it had no effect. Furthermore, the Flonase spray was useless because my nose was completely clogged and it would just drip out after I used it. I was also having difficulty breathing (e.g.
Avatar f tn I’ve had this for just over two years. I use a nasal spray called Beconase and Nonjela- and gargle with hot salty water on really bad days when my tongue feels on fire and everything I eat hurts like hell!!!! It’s a really crappy and unpredictable condition. The oddest foods spark it off. Any suggestions on anything that helps not have it hurt so much would be cool. Its not an allergy. I know this. It's not ulcers either!
Avatar f tn I've had the most horrible burning sore throat for almost a week now, along with periodic headache, severe fatigue, loss of appetite, joint pains (a lot more than normal for me), periodic fevers, chills and extremely swollen and sore glands in my neck/throat. I went to an urgent care facility the day before yesterday (was unable to get in to see my family physician) and the doc there strongly felt I had strep throat.
Avatar n tn Acylovir 5% Misoprostol 0.0024% Lidocaine 1% Lidocaine 2% Tetracycline 1.25 % This is right from the compound pharmacy that made the mouthwash up for me. My regular pharmacy didn't have all the ingredients! Hope this helps. sueb P.S. I found the Biotene mouthwash burned like h***. The toothpaste was mild enough, but I only tried the mouthwash once. OUCH.
Avatar f tn The only thing I did not like was I had to suck gelled litocaine up my nose to numb it. They gave me a gargle to numb my throat. I showed no spasm but was told the same thing...if it doesn't happen during the test we won't get to see....common sense. I did have a speech and swallowing eval this past week. It was a videoflourascophy( something like that?) They put a video camera in the back of my throat and watched my larynx and vocal cords. The swallowing was a modified barium swallow.
2005521 tn?1327702945 In response to the infection the body produces soft white debris which collects in the tiny indentations in the tonsils called crypts. Repeated salt water gargles will help. Mix one teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water and gargle. Betadine mouthwashes will also help. And wait for your culture and sensitivity report to start on the specific antibiotic. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
320078 tn?1278348320 the doctor gave me Lidocaine to try, and i have to go back on monday. before today i did use magic mouth wash. my doctors said this (ulcers) are a side from riba and once you get it, it doesnt go away...i not sure about weight is 100lbs but i started tx at 118, so its not like i lost that much.
Avatar f tn Eat lukewarm or cool foods, not foods at hot temperatures. Gargle or rinse your mouth out often with warm, salted water. Talk to your doctor about a prescription for lidocaine mouthwash. It can ease discomfort from mouth sores.
Avatar n tn I think it's called bioten(sp) but have you tried the good old salt water gargle? It helped me w/ sore throat, but don't know if it would be a good idea w/ sores.
Avatar n tn It is a mixture of maalox and lidocaine and purified water....I am not sure if there is anything else in the mix...most pharmacists know what it is. It works for of luck.
Avatar n tn biotene mouthwash, biotene toothpaste, orajel, hydrogen peroxide, "majic mouth," a script called famvir, gargle with salt water - I am sure I have forgotten something. Oh yeah, off the riba for a week or so to let these damn things heal. You know, I told my husband, if you ever hear me complain again about my normal physical self, remind me - how well my chubby aging body ususlly serves me.
Avatar n tn If the pain is so bad you need to go to the ER, they will prescribe a lidocaine type gel, which doesn't work that great. So don't go there, unless you can't breathe or are bleeding or have a high fever. Also, use a saline gargle (warm salt water) every 4-6 hours. I've had the worst sore throats (agony) so I know what I'm talking about. At any rate, go to your doctor for your ear/throat pain if it persists. Good luck.
488823 tn?1218374167 Another mouthwash/gargle is called Betadine. There are several Betadine products so be sure you ask for the mouthwash. I actually think this may be prescription in the US as well. Here is what it says about it: Povidone iodine is an antiseptic. It is a complex of iodine, which kills micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and bacterial spores. It can therefore be used to treat infections with these micro-organisms.
1807991 tn?1438783370 looks like at least 4 times a day I need to brush, water pic, gargle, floss, biotine, magic mouthwash and go back to the dentist often. What a nightmare!
Avatar n tn I went to the capitation specialist to check my throat. What he did was I believed he spray lidocaine in my nose to numb my nose...then he insert a tube inside my nose to take a look inside my throat....again, the specialist said everything is fine. Nothing to worry about. It still bothers me now that I don't eat and sleep well.....If anybody finds a cure or a way to get rid of this cobblestone, I would be so thankful.
Avatar n tn com/youropinions and read some of the posted comments. I too am suffering with this annoying condition. I scrape, brush and gargle with Biotene. This regimen helps for about 3 to 4 hours but it always returns. I took Lunesta for a couple of times but not 2 nights in a row. Thats the only common thread I can see. Hope this helps.
192055 tn?1263559137 Sounds like we have the same problem. Do you by chance remember if the medication was Lidocaine? Did you actually get numbness in your throat/mouth area after taking the medication? How long did you take the medication and the problem never came back?
Avatar n tn I was not put to sleep for this procedure. The lidocaine spray pretty much felt like oven cleaner and smelled like it, too. My doc went through my nose and down my throat, into my stomach and over to my duedoduem..spelling?? I ate pretty quickly after it was over and I felt find then, but oh my goodness, my left side is killing me, some sharp pains that shoot over to my right side. This was a horrid procedure, but necessary, so I hung in there and prayed that I did not gag.
Avatar n tn HELLO. Many of the symptoms listed are very familiar to me, and had I not ended up at an allergy specialist that recognized that my symptoms had very little to do with allergies, I would be totally, disfunctionally sick by now. Look up any information you can get on Myofascial Pain Disorder (MPD) because many of the people with TMJ, neck pain & stiffness, head pain at one side of head or eye, or ear, sinus congestion or post nasal drip, bad headaches, sensitivity to cold, etc.
