lidoderm

Avatar m tn They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
Avatar f tn Why do i have to rest after a lidocaine trigger injection in my back? What are the side effects of resuming normal activity immediately?
Avatar n tn Normally we aspirate the needle/syringe prior to injection. That's how we prevent intravascular injections of lidocaine. Otherwise it would directly travel up to the brain and can cause seizures or other symptoms such as restlessness, disorientation, etc. There are several possibilities in regards to the seizure. It may be due to an intravascular injection although from my understanding, the seizure would occur more rapidly since its goes directly to the brain quickly.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
14051 tn?1238251732 I have had MRIs and EMGs, regular X-rays including on my hip, and I do have nerve damage on the right side, and I have slight foraminal narrowing on the right-L5-S1 and left-L4-5. Today I saw the Physiatrist for the second time and had an injection in my right hip to see if may help with some pain as it is hard to sit, walk, sleep, on & on.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
Avatar f tn Most of my patient do not experience pain. You can ask the doctor to give you a subconjunctival injection of lidocaine. This will help. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Everyone keeps telling me this is normal due to an increased volume at the injection site which is causing inflammation around the nerve. But, I have been on NSAIDs for 5 days and wearing a lidocaine patch on the injection site with no relief. Please help. I am terrified this is permanent. I just feel like no one is listening to how serious this could potentially be.
Avatar m tn Drugs: lidocaine and triamcinolone acetonide injection. At night after lumbar paravertebral nerve block injection, the lower back skin burning sensation, numbness of the right groin hip hip the next day and radiation to the lower limbs, a heavy sense of her left leg, 5 days double legs pain to the heel, the activity increased after skin hypoesthesia. 8 days later, the abdominal perineal these symptoms, abdominal muscle spasms. The cumulative post double ribs to the armpits.
Avatar n tn It needs to be applied and stay on the skin for approx. 20-30 minutes prior to injection though. This was the only drawback that we experienced with this prescription. I introduced the EMLA with the understanding that once my daughter became more comfortable with the new site, we would not need the EMLA anymore. You don't want to create a crutch for something that is a "niceity", not a "necessity".
Avatar n tn Yesterday I had my first injection. It was quite painful even with numbing the injection point with Lidocaine first. It was over rather quick but I could not stand on that leg when leaving the office. I needed a wheel chair to get to my car. The office staff waved me off without any warnings or concern.
Avatar f tn have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots. (Gee, I already knew that!
Avatar n tn Usually, a local injection of lidocaine, then a small excision in the office, and usually not much bleeding at all and usually no stitches. Quick and easy hopefully. Helps if your surgeon has good skills.
Avatar n tn Application of ice packs intermittently can help. You didnt say what site of injection and for what condition. If a rash develops, allergic type reaction or increased pain contact the MD. Trigger point inj are usually a cortisone drug and lidocaine mixed together. You also failed tp mention if the injection site is what hurts or a larger area of skin around injection is effected. Its hard to advise you without more specific information.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know the success rate for a lidocaine injection in the ear to treat tinnitus. Are the effects short or long term. Are there side effects. Can this damage the eardrum or hearing?
Avatar f tn On a longer term basis the risks outweigh the benefits. Ask your physician about prescribing a transdermal lidocaine patch, to be worn for no longer than 12 hours a day. You will also find medical grade DSMO cream will be helpful. Do not apply DSMO undiluted (in a cream this is already done) and make sure the skin is squeaky clean where the cream is applied.
405614 tn?1329144114 She sent orders for me to get a cortisone injection from an interventional radiologist, and said that injections could buy me time until I'm ready for a hip replacement. Gulp! She said I could have a resurfacing, but she would suggest that I go straight for the replacement since I'm not into competitive sports or other things that could wear out a total hip quickly.
Avatar f tn You may also have occipital neuralgia, which can be treated with a combination steroid / lidocaine injection to the occipital nerve at the base of your neck. This should be tried if it hasn't already. I have to tell you that the combination of vision changes (floaters) and weird pain around the eye IS STILL possibly migraine.
Avatar m tn Some people ice the area (personally I think the cold hurts worse than the teeny needle poke)...Others have been able to get a 2% lidocaine gel from their pharmacist (usually used for premature ejaculation issues) and apply that to the area, but most just do it cold turkey... Have you started your shots yet? If so, and you are worried about the needle, it is a very teeny and short little thing and, when you finally get brave enough to "just do it", you barely feel it.
1425608 tn?1320894142 ve had many bladder instillations with lidocaine and sodium bicarb. They never really worked for me. Has your doctor done a cystoscopy? That would help determine if you have IC.
Avatar f tn Thanks for reply. My level of activity isn't the variable, though. I guess it's the geek in me, wondering if there is a connection between injection and/or body fighting off potential infection.
Avatar m tn Hi Ted, Welcome. I respectfully disagree with the statement the reason you didn't obtain relief from the steroid injection proves you are "negative for that problem." Obviously I am not an expert and I don't know everything. Please don't take it that way. I just have not found that to be the case. It's my opinion that because you have pain relief with the numbing agent they had the "right spot" ..... or your pain would not have ceased.
Avatar n tn It passed of course in a few minutes and when I went in yesterday for a root canal I asked for the anesthetic without epi. The first shot was fine, but the second injection sill caused my heart to pound hard, my chest felt shallow and made me feel a little panicy. It passed and the 3rd injection did the same. The assistant said "we did not give you epi, but that does happen to some people".
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
739536 tn?1265669359 In a couple of month I have been bookedin for " LUMBAR EPIDURAL INJECTION OF LOCAL ANAES.+STEROID",what does the proceedure involve & what steroid will be used ? Also I'm having this proceedure instead of having a stimulator put in,is this a normal pattern of treatment or is there something that my Dr isn't telling me ?????
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
