I guess doctors use Lidocaine for numbing before different procedures and my doctor said it worked wonders for hemorrhoids, too.
Working with both our family doctor and the GI doc, we used the above tricks and also added MiraLax, a stool softening laxative that is available over-the-counter, to her diet. Don't let laxative scare you off. My daughter was taking a full adult dose and it doesn't create a need to go NOW. It is gentle and safe.
physician assistant did digital rectal exam. no hemmrhoids, no bleeding when tested. gave me lidocaine 3% 0.5% hydrocortisone cream. started last night 1st of 20 applications. during night sleeping I felt a slight pin head or smaller like under the skin outside of anus around 4 o'clock position. It feels like a sharp like cartiliage like projection. when sitting on it is when it itches. I think the friction is causing the itching.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
I never have in past had problems. have had sores in mouth for 9 weeks, been on antivirals for 9 weeks because I want to be, scared herpes but all cultures are negative with mouth sores and genitally, I am waiting for an igg to come back, was with a new man, who is waiting herpes results for 2, I am positive for 1 with igg in past. I did test 10 days after we were together. been to dermatlogist and all say herpes in mouth doesn't last 9 weeks. what about the bumps on my wrist.

I've been having blood on the toilet paper for a few weeks now (it's actually been like 8 months), but the bleeding comes and goes. So I sought out a proctologist and she said I have cuts & anal fissures. I just saw her last Tuesday and showed her an area that would bleed every time I had a stool or examined it. She said it was a fissure and gave me meds. I went to my primary doctor on Friday to see if it was healing, but he wasn't there so I saw someone else.
I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain.
Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
I was told that based on where they are located surgery is not an option. I was told to I needed to be on crutches for 6 weeks, come back for a check-up and then would receive a brace that somehow moves the kneecap. Can I assume this will heal by itself since it isn't in an operable position? I have been dealing with pain for 9 weeks now and I am assuming the crutches are a way to control pain and help the fissures heal?
First of all thank you for answering my question. They think the fissures are coming from straining from my IBS when I have constipation. Right now they are treating them with Hydrocortisone Acetate Suppositories and said let's treat them for 6 weeks and then see.. I had the tailbone pain about 4 days before they found the fissures so they said there not sure what's causing the pain or say nothing at all.
Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with.

I have anal fissures for about one year. They go for sometime and then come again. I talked to specialist and he told me to only use sitz bath and dont use any cream since sitz baths are very effective. I am also taking food heavy on dietary fibre, eating fruits, lot of water and using stool softener. As per the specialist, it will go away soon. I am too much worried since it takes about 1-2 weeks to heal once there is minor tear and I get drop of blood of spotting in the tissue.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..
Yes, I have and the news wasn't as good as she led me to believe. They just said it was irritated skin...and my reaction was NO S*@t. She just gave me a different cream to apply. She said that when I go back in September if I still have the fissure problem then she is going to send me to a dermatologist. I was so upset for the whole day and so far it has effected my whole week. I thought they were going to find out what it was and give me a magic pill to get rid of it.
Getting lidocaine for wisdom tooth extraction--felt the needle going in and woke up 45 minutes later in ER. I had had a seizure! Hundreds of shots for teeth over the years, never any such experience. Surgeon swore he found no blood in syringe and couldn't understand why I seized. Swore he did everything right, never heard of lidocaine causing a seizure this way. Apologized profusely. I'm now worried about completing the extraction, which has to be done.
