Lexapro vs zoloft celexa

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs zoloft celexa

lexapro

Avatar f tn I saw a psychiatrist, though, and she said that I was on much too low of a dose of Zoloft to be equivalent to Lexapro. If I remember correctly, you were also on 50 mg of Zoloft, correct? It took me about six to eight weeks on the Lexapro to feel better, but once I did, it was FANTASTIC! I'm not having a lot of luck with Zoloft, at least not yet, though my dosage was too low for several weeks.
672514 tn?1265655141 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
Avatar f tn Celexa does not give me fatigue but I do take it at bedtime like I did with the Zoloft. The Celexa does not work as well as the zoloft did but it took many many months for the zoloft to kick in so hoping someday the celexa works just as well.
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn Still have anxiety and breakthrough panic attacks. He has given me the choice of lexapro or Zoloft. Since Celexa and lexapro are so similar, I'm concerned that the lexapro won't work given that the Celexa stopped working. On the other hand, he has warned me that Zoloft is more activating, which is not good for anxiety and panic. Thoughts? Advice? Similar experiences?
Avatar f tn m on Celexa now but am wondering if maybe Lexapro would be better since anxiety is my biggest concern. Has anyone had suggest with Lexapro. Also does Lexapro cause weight gain like Celexa?
Avatar f tn Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...
11487567 tn?1418754128 t imagine very many people taking three different drugs that all target serotonin receptors at the same time. Celexa and Lexapro are essentially the same drug, with Lexapro being Celexa with some of the molecules cut out. This is weird indeed. I wonder why the Zoloft wasn't tried at a more therapeutic dose instead of layering on the same kind of drugs.
Avatar m tn Hi Everyone! Just one fast question here... I really need to start again a SSRI for my extreme panic disorder and I want to know if the Celexa will work to stop the panic disorder, since I took it for my social phobia at 60 mg/day back in 1999 for 6 months and it did nothing for the social anxiety and my anxiety level didn't improve on it?
1128643 tn?1262483649 Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years. Now the issue: I suffer from chronic pain as well, and apparently my pain mgmt doc believes Cymbalta (approved for fibromyalgia) may keep my depression in check while also helping me deal with pain & its own related depression.
Avatar f tn But I will tell you that Lexapro and Celexa are far more known for the sweating problem than Zoloft is -- it is one of the more common side effects of both Celexa and even more with Lexapro, and I got it from both of them.
Avatar m tn I really hate them. I told my doc that my Lexapro (switched FROM celexa), makes me tired, not have any sexual desire, and i think it makes me fat. i have ocd, mild anixety, and invasive thoughts. he told me to drop to 10mg and start taking topamax. i really just want to get off ssri's and on to something that helps with the invasive thoughts and ocd (neither which are HORRIBLE, but bad enough). i asked about wellbutrin, he said it wouldnt help me. so what do i doooo?
Avatar m tn Should a patient be on zoloft and celexa at the same time. I have a patient on celexa 20mg that started 5/17/11. She was previously on Zoloft 200mg daily that has been decreased to 100mg daily x7 days then 50mg x7days then d/c. My problem is this combination of the two. Should she have finished the tapering of zoloft before starting the celexa?
Avatar n tn The Lexapro website will give you recommended doses. From taking it myself, I can tell you that the wholesaler recommends 10mg for depression, 20mg for anxiety. The drugs are obviously different, and many medications can cause dizziness as a side effect. Zoloft compares more closely to Lexapro's progenitor, Celexa, since with Lexapro they basically took Celexa and trimmed off part of it.
Avatar f tn Celexa made me really sick to my stomach ...I'm on Activan right know but not a long term med to addicting going bk to the dr next week!
Avatar f tn Effexor (an SNRI as mentioned above) is also a tough one to get off, compared to other ADs. Lexapro, Zoloft, Celexa and Prozac are typically the easier tolerated ADs (again, everyone is different). I personally would recommend sticking with the SSRIs vs the SNRIs for anxiety, because due to the fact that their primary mechanism of action affects norepinephrine (aka adrenaline), they are quite activating, and can cause more anxiety.
Avatar f tn I see two possibilities, given you seem to want to go back on the Lexapro -- you can try it again after slowly tapering off the Zoloft -- maybe the break in time off it will allow it to work again. Not likely to happen, but possible, depending on how long has passed. Or you could try Celexa, which is almost the same drug as Lexapro but enough different that it might help you the way the Lexapro did. No way to know, though, other than trial and error. Good luck.
1425157 tn?1311651679 i recently read that zoloft can in crease a certain chemical in the blood by 40% that can affect heart electrical function --that doesnt sound great when i already had about 65 pac/pvc a day but in last 2 weeks since switching from celexa to zoloft 100 mg a day i am feeling what i think are runs of pvc s any relation??
497348 tn?1283436066 I have been on several meds, as well as meds for anxiety as I have GAD, too. A year ago, my doc switched me from Celexa to Zoloft( which I had been on for years, since the mid 90s). Well, we just switched back as I experienced what he called " Zoloft failure". In a year, I went from 50 mg to 200 mg ( max dose) and was miserable. I just switched back to Celexa, about 2 weeks ago and am already feeling better. . I also take Klonopin ( .5 mg three times a day ) for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn Okay everyone I am desperate. I was diagnowed with severe ocd specificallyspecifically relationship OCD after coming off celexa (I weaned off as instructed). Well anyway I got intrusive thoughts wondering if I loved my very loving boyfriend anymore. I doubted everything... had break downsand decoded to go back on celexa got suicidal... the whole 9... long story short... I was switched to lexapro and am now starting week 4.
415867 tn?1323365503 Newer antidepressants don’t have the same side effect. While Paxil and Zoloft do cause some weight gain, other SSRIs, like Prozac, Celexa and Lexapro, don’t. For Paxil and Zoloft, the weight gain can add up to five to 40 pounds a year. Some people do experience weight gain with Lexapro or Celexa, but most don’t. In this case, it is not a surprise to have idiosyncratic responses, since the chemical structure of all the SSRIs is so similar.
Avatar f tn t work and then effexor which was helping but I made the decision to go off and try lexapro because celexa was so helpful. I just feel horrid and I'm not sure what to do? I should have just stayed on the effexor.
Avatar f tn LEXAPRO is the king of SSRI,S covers the hole spectrum . I swapped from Zoloft overnight on to 10mg Lexapro from 50mg Zoloft and I felt a hole change in my person over on the first day , I had 1 med going in and another going out .they crossed the blood barrier like a dream. Now LEXAPRO has pooped out ,I did the same 1 day taper back to ZOLOFT and it seems to be giving me a second stab at the med. GROSSING OVER meds of the same group is easy and painless .
535882 tn?1396576685 Lexapro is an antidepressant that is an SSRI...just like Zoloft, Celexa, Prozac, etc. It is prescribed for anxiety and depression, and I am a big proponenent of medications like these as long as they are used as tool while you seek help through talk therapy...by learning about your anxiety and understanding this cycle, you can really get some long term relief form this...please keep us posted!
2198057 tn?1338531205 Try getting another prescription for something else like Lexapro or Welbuturin. To many side effects with zoloft. In the meantime try to get some low dose zanax to calm your nerves until you get different meds. Remember anxiety is an over exhagerrated nervous system that needs to be nourished and medicated because of imbalances in the brain. Does this run in your family?
1348686 tn?1310654243 I just switched from lexapro to zoloft and the transition went smoothly. Lexapro is a great drug, after the first 5 or 6 weeks it starts to kick in and you should start feeling better but give it time. It takes most SSRI's anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks to start working completely. The reason I switched was cost and the fact that sertraline works better for me. Lexapro is a refined version of celexa basically from what I understand.
