Lexapro vs zoloft celexa

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs zoloft celexa

lexapro

Avatar f tn Celexa does not give me fatigue but I do take it at bedtime like I did with the Zoloft. The Celexa does not work as well as the zoloft did but it took many many months for the zoloft to kick in so hoping someday the celexa works just as well.
Avatar n tn Hi Yardea: IMO both are very good but as with all antidepressants it really depends on the individual. I was on Zoloft for 5 years then switched to Celexa when Zoloft exhausted and 5 years later I am on a combination of Zoloft & Celexa and just recently switched to Zoloft & Lexapro. Eventually my doctor wants to ween me off the Zoloft to see if the Lexapro will help on it's own. For everyone it is different. Follow your doctor's advice because it is different for everyone.
Avatar f tn i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
222417 tn?1241567900 you have MANY other options...if not with another SSRI medication (ie Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, Prozac)...but then with another TCA med. Go into it with an open mind...give yourself time...these meds (like TCA's) take at LEAST 2-4 weeks to where some improvements are noticed, and it is usually very gradual. In some people, it can take up to 6 weeks. The important thing is to keep the lines of communication open with your doc...as you may require some dosage adjustments along the way.
Avatar m tn Can I react differently to the Celexa than the Lexapro? Is it possible that with the Celexa I will have less side-effects since it's a more dirty version of the Lexapro it's suppose to have more side-effects no? Also, the only one SSRI who work in the past for my panic disorder is the Paxil... but hte Paxil do nothing for the social anxiety, like all the antidepressant meds I try...
1128643 tn?1262487249 Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years. Now the issue: I suffer from chronic pain as well, and apparently my pain mgmt doc believes Cymbalta (approved for fibromyalgia) may keep my depression in check while also helping me deal with pain & its own related depression.
Avatar n tn I have been considering trying Zoloft or Lexapro, but it seems like weight loss is prevalent on both of those drugs as well.
Avatar f tn Celexa wasn't one of them, lol. But I was on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Cymbalta, Lexapro, and Prozac. I did the best on Lexapro and the worst on Cymbalta. I read up a little on Celexa and found that the MAX dose is usually 40 mg and yet your dr. STARTED you on that?. So, I'm thinkin you are very wise to cut them in half. It will take 2-4 weeks to actually begin working in your brain chemistry, but that differs for all of us...some notice sooner....some later....
672514 tn?1265658741 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
Avatar f tn I switched to a psychiatrist that has me on a taper/increase schedule with zoloft and lexapro. I had to be 100mg of zoloft before starting the lexapro, then she introduced the 5mg of lexapro, then the next week she dropped the zoloft down 25mg. then the next week dropped it down another 25mg and increase the lexapro to 10mg... etc. i'm doing much much better than the first doctors ridiculous practice but is what you are saying is it shouldn't even be done that way?
Avatar f tn I am back on the zoloft 75 mg, I feel better then I did on the others but not great and is only been 2 weeks. DO I up the Zoloft or quit and try Lexapro? I am afraid that the ZOloft will not work for long and I will be back to square one and starting over.. Before I started the Zoloft again I had a bad reaction to Prozac with lots and lots of panic attacks etc!! Any comments would be great!!
Avatar f tn Maybe Lexapro would work instead of Zoloft or Celexa since it seems to work on anxiety more and is a cleaner version of Celexa. Maybe Lexapro won't make me so jittery. Celexa did work better than the other SSRIs for me, just jittery and Lexapro is the newer version. And, do I have just depression/anxiety, or do I have a mood disorder?! Just for the record I do take 100mg of Lamictal, which doesn’t really do anything but I’m also on a low dose of it.
Avatar f tn I've been on Celexa for 6 weeks now. I knew about the possible weight gain so I started upping my exercise and really watching my food intake from the get-go. I have actually lost weight since I started taking it. You couldn't tell that from my weight tracker because I had surgery last week and have gained a couple pounds back but that's to be expected I guess. I just encourage you that not everyone gains weight on Celexa.
Avatar n tn Some insight would be nice. I had some experiences (not pleasant) with Zoloft myself... Both Zoloft and Lexapro are the milder forms of the SSRI's. Yet nevertheless, it is finding the right med. that will work for you. I myself just can't take SSRI's (I think I am sensitive to the serotonin in the med.) and get head-zings and wackiness, as I call it (there is no proper term to describe it, unfortunately).
Avatar f tn I got the sweats with Lexapro and its progenitor Celexa, and they never have gone away completely. It's a balance between the benefits vs. the downsides. What I do is take a shower before going to bed and in the summer keep the AC one degree cooler than I normally would.
Avatar f tn I don't know how to deal with the sweats -- I got them from both Lexapro and Celexa and have to take a shower before going to bed in the hopes it will prevent them even though I'm now on a very low tapering dose of Celexa. I don't always get them, just sometimes especially in summer, so you never know.
Avatar n tn I also take zoloft. Can anyone recommend another anti-depressant; the zoloft keeps me awake I think. Anyway everyone here is right when they say xanax is not for long term use. I got to the point of taking 8-12mgs a day with little to no effect. I have a terrible tolerance and people need to not just trust their docs blindly. I have learned that lesson; you are responsible for your own well being. The kolonopin is a god send.
225237 tn?1333142599 I gave it a good try, but called my doc to say that nervousness was really not what I was looking for. Lexapro (the son of Celexa) took away the flavor of chocolate (!), and I called my shrink to tell him that. He (being a man) said, "I don't understand; is that good or bad?" I replied, (on the inside, naturally) 'You ninny; (then out loud) "of course that's bad." So he switched me to zoloft. That has turned out to be the magic med for me.
Avatar f tn I did try Zoloft which didn't work and then effexor which was helping but I made the decision to go off and try lexapro because celexa was so helpful. I just feel horrid and I'm not sure what to do? I should have just stayed on the effexor.
Avatar f tn I can't speak to the meds, except to say that in my own case the SSRI (Zoloft) was deployed AFTER I had weaned off K'pin and was panic-free. My impression was (mind you, just my impression) that whereas the K'pin sort of helped make the panic go away, I still was not feeling entirely myself. Its like getting over the flu or a cold -yes, you are not "sick," but you are not at the top of your game, either. The Z is what helped with becoming my "old self" once again.
Avatar n tn Befoe going on Effexor, I had gained 20 from other antidpressants (Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa). Since beginning Effexor 1 year ago, I have gained a combined total of 53 pounds. AND YES I EXERCISE AND EAT HEALTHY! At one point I even got a trainer and still couldn't lose weight. I am afraid to go off Effexor because I'm convinced that I'm "A Lifer" as far as needing medication fro depression.
Avatar n tn Wellbutrin is not an SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) like Paxil, Lexapro, Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and a few others. Wellbutrin is an NDRI (Norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor) which may not be what your body needs. There are different TYPES that work differently with the brain chemistry. After thorough testing from a mental health profession, such as a psychiatrist, they should be able to tell you what type of medication would be the best fit for you.

Avatar n tn 2) Am I better off with Paxil/Zoloft + Wellbutrin or Buspar, or is my non-reaction to Wellbutrin a sign that it wouldn't do much in combination w/ Paxil? 3) Any other drug/combo better for my condition and side effects experience?
Avatar m tn I have been on Lexapro (10mg.) for about a little over a year now. Before that I was on Celexa. I tried stopping Lexapro a few months back. My Dr. told me to take one tablet every other day for two weeks. I did that and got very sick feeling all the symptoms that you all have. I went back on it only to stop again a week ago...I have dizziness to the extreme, I feel very disorientated and extremely tired. I feel like I am getting the onset of a cold. I also gained 15 lbs.
881463 tn?1245349249 Do any SSRI help with pain reduction? How is Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, Celexa vs Cymbalta in these regards? I am so confused with all tyhe med choices. I have picked up the Cymbalta at 1 tab 60 mg a day, but I want to make sure I should be on an snri as opposed to ssri prior to starting one. Is Cymbalta 60 mg dose safe to start? I have had some extensive tests to try & find a physical cause of my mid-back & chest pain/tight breathing sensations.
