Lexapro vs luvox

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs luvox

Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
Avatar m tn Most of the drugs in that category do increase the odds of weight gain, but it's because you have more urges to eat not the drug just inceases your weight.. Here is the list I found on what works the best vs. the most tolerated drugs - not necessarily better drugs. It was printed in The Lancet, one of the most respected medical journals.
Avatar n tn My panic attacks started up again so the doc put me on lexapro. I've been on lexapro for about 3 weeks and i honeslty don't feel like its working. It's as if i get more anxiety. My advice to you is to not be afraid of the weight gain b/c a lot of it is emotional. I know the medication makes you hungry all the time but try to overcome your hunger strikes by only eating healthy food that won't make you gain weight or substitute your hunger strikes with exercise. Keep yourself busy!
Avatar f tn If you have a panic disorder, you should be put on a SSRI like the Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Luvox, Celexa or Lexapro... if you can't tolerate them or if the panic disorder don't improve after at 8 weeks at the maximum dose, you should switch to another agent like the older TCA's (Imipramine, Clomipramine)... since the TCA's have more side effects, they are harder to start and they increase a lot the anxiety at first...
Avatar m tn BTW if Neurephinepherine Depletion is your problem, then it's no wonder that Lexapro didn't help you. Lexapro is an SSRI medication and does not effect Neurephinepherine Reuptake in the brain. Keep in touch and I will share with you what has worked for me. Maybe your suffering from the same issue as me. It took me a long time to figure it out and trust me the Doctors were little help.
Avatar f tn But he never acknowledged that it was withdrawal, and offered me two very problematic medications because one of the things I got from the withdrawal that I never had before was OCD, so he offered clomipramine or luvox. Neither was likely to stop the Paxil withdrawal, and both had so many contraindications and side effects that it would have made me worse. Some think the best thing is to put you on Prozac because it's easier to come off of.
Avatar n tn Three weeks ago I stopped the Lexapro which the Dr. had initially hoped to transition me over to. I feel a little less bloated, and I can feel the muscle underneath the fat which is better than before, so I think some of the bloating was due to the Lexapro. The weight has leveled off to 30s pound over my target (that is, my weight 4 years ago).
Avatar n tn occurance Often the 'sound of surprise' is involuntarily made History of major surgery History of anxiety History of PTSD History of traumatic experience History of pneumonia Currenlty taking Lexapro, allergy shots, Ambien CR Keep in touch, and I will let you know what I find out as well. Take care all Cindy P.S. "kcalco" obviously does not suffer from this problem, and she should spend her time elsewhere.
