Lexapro vs buspar

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs buspar

lexapro

Avatar f tn I'm wondering if anybody has had experience in taking Cymbalta for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible.
Avatar f tn Lexapro and Buspar are totally different medications. Buspar is an anti-anxiety medication (I take that along with paxil) Lexapro is an anti depressant. You shouldn't have the same side effects. However, it will take a few weeks for the medication to work. You may have some side effects from that but everyone is different. However, you need to find the right med for you. Sometimes it is on the first shot, other times it may take a few. Hang in there and don't lose hope!
Avatar n tn I am taking Buspar and Lexapro for anxiety. any suggestions on loosing weight. I have gained about 50 pounds in the last 8 months.
Avatar f tn I have heard that Buspar is just as effective as Lexapro but that the libido is not affected and I will be able to reach orgasm as a normal 27 year old woman if I take Buspar. I am going in to see my physician this week and would greatly appreciate any insight.
Avatar f tn Your doctor prescribed buspar AND Lexapro? *** Buspar and Lexapro should NOT be taken at same time because they can cause a rare but serious side effect of serotonin syndrome. You don't want that. So, you were right to never take all these meds together and am not sure who is prescribing them with any suggestion that there is overlap in your using them. I would not take buspar until you've spoken to your doctor. Ask them WHEN you can feel all Lexapro is washed out of your system.
Avatar n tn The doctor put me on Buspar, I am very very wary now and this doctor is pretty blah, no personality, he said they were okay. What do they do? Are they the same family as Lexapro etc. or Xanaz, Valium.
Avatar n tn My Dr. is prescribing the Buspar, in addition to my Lexapro, and Xanax. Cause I told her I can't take the Xanax all day long cause it knocks me out, and right after I come off Xanax I go right back into a constant panic attack. We are going to try to give the Lexapro a little longer to build up (it's only been 15 days) and if it doesn't work or gets worse by next week, we're going to talk about weaning over to Effexor. I HATE ANXIETY!!!!! Anyone taking Buspar.
709686 tn?1277432159 I personally have taken meds like lexapro and buspar. Buspar just work for my anxiety and I rally don't remember having any adverse effects.
Avatar f tn I started lexapro on April 16th, It seems to be helping my panic attacks and anxiety,(not so much right after my period ends) but it is still making me so tired and I take it at night, will this get better after time? Or is it that I maybe need something with it to give me a boost?
Avatar f tn I took Lexapro 10mg on and off for three years and recently was upped to 15mg for two weeks and then 20mg for 5 weeks. It helped so much before, my symptoms were almost gone! Now it's losing its effectiveness, I think. I felt fine for a week on the new dosage, thought I was improving, only to feel horrible again... I'm going to wait another week (6 weeks in total) but I doubt much difference will be made in that time.
Avatar n tn Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.
Avatar f tn have an appointment Monday with a psych.. anyone have these side effects on lexapro?? And anyone ever tried buspar??? Any advice welcome..
872115 tn?1242182670 So my doc, gave me this Buspar, does any one know about it, I really did not want benzo type meds, and I guess buspar takes a couple of weeks to start working, but then I read, about you should only take buspar for a few months.
Avatar m tn Now, she just started me on 5 mg of Lexapro (generic version), once a day. She told me to take buspar as needed but I am so worried about Serotonin Syndrome and I wont take the buspar with the Lexapro.. or at least I'm trying not too. Am I ridiculous for worrying about it if they are such low doses? (both are 5mg) I'm terrible for googling all side effects and questions I have and I've seen some scary stories online.
2102085 tn?1350866645 All SSRI's do for me is make me incredibly dizzy and nauseous. It never used to be like that I was on Lexapro a few years ago and I never had a problem with it. I haven't tried my Buspar yet I'm so terrified of having another bad experience! What medication has worked for you?
1325193 tn?1450127436 since the anxiety is seeming a little better everday, is there anyway it can come back? I just feel so positive, and don't want to go back. Thanks for all of you who cared enough to always respond to me. You are true friends.
Avatar n tn I can only say that all meds have side effects and each person reacts differently to any of these meds. As for Buspar, that is a very mild sedative that also needs time to build up in your body. Most people feel very little effects from it since it is not a strong acting depressant like the benzo's are. (xanax, klonopin, valium, etc) Wait for further replies.
1166402 tn?1303847056 I was thinking about changing from Celexa to Lexapro. I still have obsessive thoughts and feel the Celexa might not be doing anything for my anxiety. What about Effexor? I heard the withdrawals are bad? What about Buspar? Any luck with that drug?
Avatar f tn Namaste, Some questions which are unanswered are whether your discontinuance of Lexapro and subsequent reinstatement of Lexapro were supervised by a physician? And, why did you stop the Lexapro in the first place if it was controlling your symptoms? Lexapro is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression or anxiety.
6424357 tn?1381329871 To say no to adding the Buspar and just staying on the zoloft with an added xanax until the symptoms go away? I dont think going back to lexapro is the right move and i dont think the buspar is needed as of just yet. she said she only was adding the buspar now because it takes time to kick in..but ive waited this long so i think i should give the zoloft time to kick it on its own. i Mean its only been a week. What do you guys think?
429700 tn?1308007823 No, I don't think I've tried Buspar. That sure does sound familiar, though. If I feel myself getting depressed again I want to ask my neuro about this drug. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I agree with Nursegirl...it's a great drug. I took Lexapro for eight years, until it recently stopped working, and then went on Zoloft, and now I'm back on the Lexapro. I have a very hard time tolerating most drugs, but Lexapro never caused me any side effects, except maybe some initial tiredness. I also felt naseaus on Zoloft, but like I said, Lexapro was great.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I've just started taking it after trying numerous other drugs for anxiety. (Lexapro, Celexa, Paxil, Remeron) Right now I don't like how shortly after taking a 10 mg pill I get dizzy and "brain zaps" (which is normally a symptom of SSRI discontinuation). These side effects go away within a couple of hours but I am curious if Buspar has helped anyone with their anxiety in the long run or am I just wasting my time with this drug.
Avatar m tn I am currently on 20mg of Paroxetine (Paxil) once a day and 10mg of Buspirone (Buspar) twice a day. I am also on Nexium and Amoxicillin (3 more days). I have been taking my pills like this: Morning/Breakfast: Paroxetine, Buspirone, and Amoxicillin Lunch: Nexium Dinner: Buspirone and Amoxicillin. I read today that both Paxil and Peroxetine taken together could cause problems. I have read otherwise somewhere else. After I read this I felt extremely dizzy and faint feeling.
Avatar n tn I started getting tingling in my left arm yesterday. I was sitting and reached out arm out to pet a cat, gently, and my arm started tingling. Since there I have noticed it. I woke up at 5am, in my usual state of anxiety and had bad chest pain. All I could think about was I should get to the hospital because it's symptoms of heart attack. I don't know what to do. I took my propanolol and a Xanax, and I also took a Prevacid because I know last night I had heart burn.
Avatar n tn Well, Dr. said today at my 3 week check up that I should not be having nightmares or restless legs to the extreme that I'm having, so she is stopping the Lexapro. I'm not even a little improved either which she said I should be a tiny bit better, instead of worse.
Avatar f tn My dr has given me Buspar for my anxiety attacks. I don't know if it is really working and I have been taking it for around 6 months now. I want to try something else, but I am scared to try Xanax, because of its(or mine) addictive personality. I was wondering what everyone thought about this.
Avatar m tn She said she has found people who have been on things like Paxil and Zoloft tend not to see the effects of the Buspar. But people who have been on lexapro and celexia and other things like that tend to do well with it. So I am hopeful that this will work. But you think that if I have to go back on lexapro that maybe try it with Welbutrion to help the sexual side effect?
