Lexapro vs buspar

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs buspar

lexapro

Avatar f tn I took Lexapro for several years and it stopped working, so I tried Zoloft this summer, which didn't help my anxiety at all, so now I'm back on the Lexapro and Buspar. I feel better than I did a few months ago in terms of anxiety, but nowhere near as well as I did in the past, and now my depression is horrible. I barely get out of bed most days because I just don't seem to care about anything anymore.
Avatar m tn I am currently on 20mg of Paroxetine (Paxil) once a day and 10mg of Buspirone (Buspar) twice a day. I am also on Nexium and Amoxicillin (3 more days). I have been taking my pills like this: Morning/Breakfast: Paroxetine, Buspirone, and Amoxicillin Lunch: Nexium Dinner: Buspirone and Amoxicillin. I read today that both Paxil and Peroxetine taken together could cause problems. I have read otherwise somewhere else. After I read this I felt extremely dizzy and faint feeling.
656243 tn?1231291652 I am currently on 30 mg of Buspar and I also have Ativan when needed. She thought that adding Cymbalta would help with my GAD. I have taken Effexor in the past and hated it. Has anyone taken Cymbalta and were there side effects? Posative effects? I am looking at a months worth of free samples and am a bit weary of taking them. She did say the side effects were quite minimal. thanks guys C.
Avatar n tn I take valleum, buspar and cymbalta for anxiety. My opiate dose is down by a 2/3s. for 2 weeks now. The last 4 days my anxiety is so bad I don't know what to do? I know you had said your on anti-anxiety meds. do you mind sharing with me what they are and how well do they help.
Avatar f tn Granted, we are all different, but with that being said, I had virtually no side effects from Lexapro. Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.
Avatar m tn Can I react differently to the Celexa than the Lexapro? Is it possible that with the Celexa I will have less side-effects since it's a more dirty version of the Lexapro it's suppose to have more side-effects no? Also, the only one SSRI who work in the past for my panic disorder is the Paxil... but hte Paxil do nothing for the social anxiety, like all the antidepressant meds I try...
341953 tn?1209485491 when i went to the doctor, she had prescribed Buspar first. That was giving me really, really bad headaches. I kept taking it to see if they would subside but they did not. I quit after the fourth day. Well I called yesterday to let the nurse know, and now she wants me to try Celexa. I told her I was not depressed and did not really want to be taking an anti depressant. She said the doctor told me to at least try it. Does anyone have expierence with any of these?
Avatar m tn I am on klonopin, however, I use only as needed which is once every couple of weeks (also on buspar and paxil daily). I do not know if there are less side effects than xanax. I do know, however, that xanax is only supposed to be prescribed for short term use and as needed. Klonopin is for long-term daily use. I am sure someone will post here to help you.
Avatar n tn Ryan has posted some great info. about Buspar - you might try doing a search on it here in the forum, and when you see posts by his name - pay particular attention to those. He's provided some great info. on Buspar. I would caution about relying upon Xanax as your long-term management of your panic attacks. It's best to be used for only short-term periods, or taking it as an "as needed basis". It would be interesting to know more about how your Dr.
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
Avatar f tn I was suffering from alot of stress and then I started to get depressed so, I went to the doctor 9 years ago and he prescribed lexapro and vioxx due to a knot that had come up on my neck ' thinking back on that I believe it was caused from all the tension headaches I was having" anyway that night as usual I put my daughter to bed took the meds. then I went to bed.
Avatar n tn 2) Am I better off with Paxil/Zoloft + Wellbutrin or Buspar, or is my non-reaction to Wellbutrin a sign that it wouldn't do much in combination w/ Paxil? 3) Any other drug/combo better for my condition and side effects experience?
881463 tn?1245349249 I was curious however about your thoughts of Lexapro, as I read it does not promote weight gain and seems to be well tolerated. Pristiq I read about but it is not available in Canada as of yet. I will finally let go of the cancer fears based on what you and my doctor have said and of course the numerous tests I have had.e.g Chest X Ray, Body CAT scan, Bone scan, Gastrocopy & thoracic spine mri, Abdominal Ultrasound.
Avatar m tn If you do a search on the web you will find that lots of people experience the same problem when getting off of SSRIs. Just feel lucky you are taking lexapro and not paxil. With lexapro you have the withdrawal symptoms for a much shorter time. Also, most doctors have no clue as to what the side effects are to paxil. My doctor put me on it without telling me of the potential problems. Half the time doctors don't have a clue what they are giving their patients.
Avatar n tn He called in buspar and cymbalta...headaches still an issue..neuro puts me on topomax weans off the buspar says i dont need that and cymbalta and shouldnt need the maxzide anymore either. The phentermine has helped with my appetite of course this time around but unfortunately DOES nothing for my energy levels as before i guess because im so doped up oh and I have to take ambien to sleep now vs the elavil due to the weight thing. So to sum it all up..
Avatar f tn The problem is medication - I'm hugely sensitive to drugs and virtually every SSRI or SSNRI I've tried - Cymbalta, LexaPro, and now Zoloft - really exacerbates the anxiety. The psychiatrist affiliated with the program has been wonderful and understanding, and prescribed .5 mg of Xanax four times a day to address the anxiety. I'm still anxious and fearful, but also incredibly fatigued, sleeping a great deal, and - here's the worst part - have had severe diarrhea for 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn After realizing it wasnt a good combination (something about the phentermine intensifying the effect of the SSRI) i asked him to change the anti depressant to buspar. He called me in buspar and cymbalta (which i had never heard of but have learned its supposedly the only antidepressant with no weight gain side effects?) soooooooooo......headaches still an issue........

467977 tn?1262718347 BTW....I take 50 mg of Paxil daily and 30 mg of Buspar (anti-anxiety med)...I know my meds are high...but that is what I needed. I found the combo of the buspar with my paxil did the trick to take away those morning and daily "jitters" I would get. Not 100% but enough so I can function and not have to deal with the dry heaves in the morning. I also have Klonopin that I take on an "as-needed" basis.
Avatar n tn He also was in weekly psychotherapy since August.. He then was switched to Lexapro, 10 mg with welbutrin 150 mg. and quickly developed constant shaking, for four days. The psychiatrist said to discontinue the lexaparo, but my son then began showing a seizure-like presentation, with grimacing, teeth clenching and fist tightening, head jerking, eyes rolling back and when brought to the emergency room, his b/p was 150/90. He was given IV Benedryl and Ativan and he calmed down and went to sleep.
Avatar n tn Over the last year, I have wanted to take something instead of the Xanax so I tried Zoloft again, Buspar, Lexapro, Paxil and ALL of them made my anxiety worse. Last week I saw my MD telling her that I have been depressed and I think the Xanax is doing it and the up and downs I am having all the time. She wanted me to start on Klonipin and I said NO WAY. She also suggested Biofeedback which my insurance does not cover and I cannot afford otherwise.
187799 tn?1219613173 I really don't have much info on your questions. However, I take a medication called buspar.. It is an anti-anxiety medication that I take twice a day. It is not the same "pow" like you get with Klonopin. It is one of those meds that takes time to work into your system. I find it to be very helpful with my anxiety. However, I do also take an SSRI (Paxil) with it and I don't know how it would work alone. I hear ya' about the sexual side effects...it's like..
Avatar n tn In reading this forum I have noticed a lot of drugs mentioned that I have never heard of namelyWellbutrin, Provogil,Buspar,Ativan,Lexapro and neurontin.
Avatar f tn If you have a panic disorder, you should be put on a SSRI like the Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, Luvox, Celexa or Lexapro... if you can't tolerate them or if the panic disorder don't improve after at 8 weeks at the maximum dose, you should switch to another agent like the older TCA's (Imipramine, Clomipramine)... since the TCA's have more side effects, they are harder to start and they increase a lot the anxiety at first...
Avatar n tn The others I tried (Effexor, Wellbutrin, Buspar, Lexapro) made me feel better but never as good as Paxil. I choose to go back to taking Paxil, but only taking 30mg and it is working well for me. For the sexual side effects, I take Viagra which works for me as well. I take Adderall for ADHD which makes me feel like I fit in this society for once in my life! Between both of those, for me I am a new person.
Avatar f tn The profit motive just doesn't work for anything we really need, it only works for things that are nice to have, because when people livelihoods are on the line they just don't act morally. Too much to lose. Until we evolve past us vs. them as far as economics is concerned, we'll be stuck with things being falsely advertised and learn the sad results years later.
