Lexapro nausea how long

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro nausea how long

lexapro

Avatar n tn There are different approaches and it will depend on how long you veen taking it, how high your dose and your own body chemistry. Many places suggest cutting back no more than 10% at a time and stabilizing for two or more weeks before cutting back again. If 10% is too much to handle then do less and wait until you're doing pretty well before cutting back again. Be sure to talk it over with your doctor.
709686 tn?1277435759 So none of us can tell you how it's going to affect you. However, the side effects of Lexapro tend to be fewer than other ssris, at least by reputation and hype. I've had side effects from it, but they're not as bad as from other meds; on the other hand, it hasn't done what I'd hoped, either. The really bad things you read about these meds is from those who have trouble stopping them.
Avatar n tn The "zombie" feeling you describe is a very normal response to anti-depressant/anxiety medication - regardless of which one you are taking. This experience occurs because it usually takes a while for your brain to adjust to the chemicals in these meds. As a very general rule, this SHOULD settle down a bit in 3 weeks. Because everybody has a unique reaction to SSRI's (and others) you may find this feeling lasts a little longer than that.
404138 tn?1308945256 I've tried several and found that Lexapro was the best for me. Although I did have spells of anxiety, it wasn't as bad or putting me out of commission. I find this very important because you're able to use other methods of trying to control or work through your anxiety. By using cognitive behavioural therapy, I was able to work with the Lexapro and soothe my anxiety. It might take some time to kick in.
Avatar n tn For the last two weeks I have been taking Lexapro because of the sexual side effects of Prozac and I
Avatar n tn i don't look for an answer to that, but that is one of the many wonders now. how long has it been now and how are you feeling?
Avatar n tn My neurologist doesn't know why or how it happened but he does believe it was the lexapro that did the damage to me. He said HE didn't even know how this SSRI worked in the brain. I was perplexed at this specialist being perplexed. My doctor had thrown this free box-o-lexapro at me like it was candy. I have talked to 2 other people who had this same reaction to the lexapro. Both said it took 2 years before they were completely healed. WOW, what a coincidence.
Avatar m tn Starting lexapro 5mg,more anxious, sick stomach. How long to improve if it does?
358304 tn?1409713092 When you say you've been weaning off the Lexapro "kinda fast," exactly how fast are we talking here? And how much were you taking? And did you doc or therapist recommend you stop, and if so, why? And if you decided to stop on your own, why? And were you prescribed this med for depression or GAD? (or both?) Lexapro does NOT carry the same warning regarding stopping abruptly as many of the other anti-anxiety meds, but it can't hurt to taper off this med.
Avatar n tn I've been taking Lexapro for at least 2 years now. In the past I had been frequently non-compliant with my meds, stopping and starting at whim. Then I became more serious (and desperate). But old habits die hard and I regularly adjust my Lexapro. I was prescribed 20mg a day but sometimes up it to 30mg daily (usually before my period).
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear you're struggling with anxiety. How long were you on the Lexapro the last time around? What dose did you start at? It's very common for some people to experience side effects during the inital adjustment phase. The common ones are an increase in anxiety (feeling very jittery), sleep disturbances (either too much or not enough), some GI upset (nausea, diarrhea), headaches, changes in appetite.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know how long it takes for Lexapro withdrawls to completely leave you body??? I was on Lex for 9 months at 10 mg.
Avatar n tn Just wondering if anyone has had a relapse of withdrawls? And if anyone knows how long it takes to get it completely out of your system?
Avatar f tn I'm hoping some here could share experiences while taking this drug, i.e. especially bothersome side effects? how long before you felt a little less anxious? sleep disturbances? Thank you in advance.
148987 tn?1287809526 Those Add's have helped some, but if you read as to how they affect the brain and God only knows what the long term problems may be from them. It does hit suddenly though(anger). I used to have a friend and now and then we would meet to have dinner and catch up on what's going on in each other's life. He would drink Martini's. He always was so nice until the last drop of the second Martini, he would become nasty for no reason, to the waitress and anyone around, including me.
Avatar n tn I feel like an emotional wreck-crying randomly and being hypersensitive and irrational to issues that normally wouldnt effect me like this. I just want to know how long these withdrawal symtoms can last? Is there an end in site?
358304 tn?1409713092 How long have you gone without appetite while having anxiety? I havnt had an appetite for 2 weeks or more... but am making myself eat throughout the day when my stomach growls. I know when my body is hungry... but nothing sounds good or smells good. But like I said, I'm making myself eat, but it's not enjoyable. I havnt lost any weight either. Will my appetite come back you think? I'm worried I'll develop some type of anorexia or something crazy like that.
Avatar n tn I am coming off cipralex and I am soooo itchy especially my hands and neck. Has anyone had this withdrawal symptom? If so what can be done about it. Hand cream doesnt help.
Avatar n tn How long could it take to rid the side effects of Lexapro? My doctor gave me a 3 week supply of Lexapro on Jan. 15th, 2009 because she thought that anxiety was the cause for my uncontrollable blood pressure, but it did not lower the pressure. I have now been off this terrible drug for 13 days and still have terrible side effects. To give you some history, Sept. 2008, I went into the hospital with chest pains, spent the night with all the tests and ruled out a heart attack.

Avatar m tn 5mg and then wham! - woke up with dizziness, nausea and headache. Headache has now lasted 14 days. Doc reinstated me to 10mg with no effect on headaches then 5 days later increased to 12.5mg with no improvement. In fact, I feel worse due to anxiety. Anybody had a similar experience getting off Lex?
Avatar n tn How can I safely wean myself off of Lexapro?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with panic disorder and anxiety about five years ago and was first placed on Zoloft which gave me horrible side effects such as dizziness, nausea, even worse anxiety and depression, and it almost felt like I was getting zaps to the brain. So my doctor placed me on a low dose of xanax and that helped. I eventually got off but I am now again experiencing extreme anxiety and panic attacks.
869879 tn?1239663909 Has anyone ever taken Lexapro and Abilify together? I've been on 10mg Lexapro (for chronic dysthymia) for about 2 years now. I've always had positive reactions to Lexapro: great sex drive, great mood, slept okay (I do take Lunesta for sleep). However, lately (for the past 4 months I'd say), my depression has worsened for no real reason. I've found myself a lot more tired when I wake up (I sleep 9-10 hours a night), don't want to be with anyone, no energy, no sex drive.
Avatar n tn I have been taking synthroid (125 mcg) for about 2 weeks now (since my RAI - was on that dosage since my surgery), still experiencing extremely dry skin and scalp (used to have very oily skin), inability to loose a single pound (even though I diet and work out 6 days a week - including 4 days of 30+ minutes of cardio), and extreme fatigue (needing to sleep alteast 10hrs a night), oh, almost forgot the loss of taste (which is fine right now since I am trying my hardest to loose weight)...
535882 tn?1396580285 Hey there, Yep. side effect of Lexapro. your on five weeks now right? how bad are the headaches? are they really bothersome? if not give it another couple weeks and just take something when they you have them. i found that mine eventualy went away. if they are realy bothersome then talk to your doc. your meds may need to be adjusted.
Avatar n tn My Dr said it would last about 10 to 14 days. How long can I expect this to last? I alternated 2.5 mg every other day for a month before stopping completely. I am also on 150 mg of Welbutrin XL and plan on beginning to stop this as well within the next 60 to 90 days under Dr supervision. I hope this will be easier to deal with during withdraw.
Avatar m tn It started to get bad enough that I had to go back to my regular doctor. He suggested that I start taking Lexapro 10mg daily and 4 .25 mg of the xanax daily. I am wrried about taking the Lexapro because I took Effexor XR .375 a couple years ago and I had my first full blown panic attack and had to leave my job in an ambulance because I didn't know what was going on. So I stopped that immediately.
Avatar n tn Should I discontinue the medicine after only 4 days? If it is a side effect, how long will it take for normalcy to reestablish? I am a 40-year old female.
