Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro libido

lexapro

Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago I had my first attack in 10 years So I went back on the lexapro and felt better after about 2 weeks, I still have the libido issue and my doctor is recommending Wellbutrin along with the lexapro. Will that help with the libido issue? Also if you are having a very stressful thing happenening, ie. your girlfriend is breaking up with you, can you increase the dose of Lexapro and is there any benefit to it?
Avatar n tn I was previously on Lexapro for anxiety / depression, but switched to Wellbutrin due low libido while on the Lexapro. I have now been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL for about three months, and have noticed no imprvement. If anything, my libido has diminished even more. Since most people report a boost in sex drive with the Wellbutrin, I was wondering if I am just an atypical case, or if perhaps my dosage is not high enough to experience the improvement. Thanks for your help!
Avatar f tn I've been experciening increased libido the past week or so. What could cause this? I take lexapro and evista. I am female and 55yrs. old.
Avatar n tn I am on Lexapro (10 mg) and Welbutrin. My sex drive is ZIP. Should I switch meds-and if so to what?
Avatar n tn s which is freaking me out a little. Have been on lexapro for 6 months now - libido gone also....thinking about weaning off the lexapro and taking nothing or going back to the imipramine. Has anyone else experienced the low heart rate while on it?
Avatar f tn My anxiety is under much better control but I still have triggers. The problem is the lexapro makes me feel numb and I have no libido. I recently began therapy and I am using other supports such as a good diet, exercise and supplements. When I began the lexapro I was having serious issues with panic attacks, racing heart and obsessive thoughts and worries.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro 20mg for about 9 months. Although my anxiety and obsessive thoughts are much, much improved I am having some side effects. I have no libido and I feel numb. No much of anything move me any more. What can I do? I was on lexapro a couple of years ago and the same thing happened about a year into the treatment. I weaned off and was anxiety free for about a year and a half.
Avatar n tn I recently received a script for Lexapro and totally lost it. I have been on this for the better of 4 years. Since I lost it, I have been without. I am experiencing these "brain zaps" and some times blurred vision. What do I do to get it to stop? Also my sex drive is non existant so is there another one out there to help in that department? Not Vybryd which just made me cry every day. please help!!!
Avatar f tn I have had virtually no libido. I can reach orgasm only 1 of 20 encounters. At first my husband was patient and then I became to where I didn't even want to try because of the stress of worrying about having an orgasm. My husband feels like it's him even though intellectually he knows it's my meds. I recently quit the zoloft and effexor and began wellbutrin 150 mg day and 10 mg of lexapro to try and regain my sexuality. So far no change.
Avatar f tn I also had terrible headaches with Lexapro and it damaged my libido.
Avatar f tn s tendency to interfere with erection, libido, and orgasm in males (and Lexapro is BAD in this respect). The normal dose of Wellbutrin after titrating up from 150mg is 300mg, preferably in the XL (released gradually over time) form, and the Lexapro is normally one 10mg tab QD. I have seen these two meds prescribed together this way for others.
Avatar f tn I gained weight taking lexapro and changed my medication to Wellbutrim 75 milligrams. I understand it helps you lose weigth and decrease appetite. Is that true. I haen't notice a change.
1427612 tn?1282978018 i dont know about effexor but a couple of weeks ago, i ran out of lexapro. i became a quick shot but i dont remeber the libido going up.
Avatar m tn around 5+ years ago I was on Lexapro and it helped a lot and the only side effect I had was a slight libido one. Stopped taking it after a year. I tried going back on it last year and got the generic, which gave side effects I didn't have the first time (heart racing, appetite loss, all around horrible feeling). A few weeks ago I had a huge panic attack and decided I wanted to try Lexapro again.
Avatar f tn Does it go away after my body adjust to the medicne. I also get body twitches while i start to fall asleep from the lexapro. The lexapro seems to be helping but I can't stand biting my tongue and clenching my teeth every night. I have an over the counter mouth guard. It is uncomfortable to sleep with but it helps.
995075 tn?1259784243 I have no depression, no bone pain for the last 8 months and the fear of cancer anxiety is under control on Lexapro. I have an increased libido (it can go either way with this drug) but for once something is working in my favor! As for the hair, going to a vegan way of life takes care of that, but it's not for everybody. Your body has been through a lot, give it a bit of tincture of time my friend. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I have heard that Buspar is just as effective as Lexapro but that the libido is not affected and I will be able to reach orgasm as a normal 27 year old woman if I take Buspar. I am going in to see my physician this week and would greatly appreciate any insight.
709686 tn?1277432159 Today is 27 on 5mgs of Lexapro. What a ride it has been. While I can tell a big difference in my anxiety and anger I have had several other side effects that caught me off guard. The worst issue for me has been painful constipation...and I do mean painful. Not meaning to be gross...but during one stretch I went 7 days without a movement so I began taking an over-the-counter laxative called Colace which helped a little. I do think things are starting to return to normal ever so slowly.
Avatar f tn Another big concern I have with taking SSRI's is low libido. My poor husband...I just have NO interest when I am on my medication. Has anyone had any experience with this? What have you done. I've experienced this with Lexapro, and Zoloft. However, when I'm not taking medication, I'm too crazy for him to be interested in me.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Lexapro for almost a month...5mg for ten days & now 10mg. In addition to being exhausted, I'm unable to focus, muster an ounce of creativity or patience, and having substantial joint pain. My doc is encouraging me to stay the course but I'm hesitant to do so. I'm here wondering if these are side effects anyone here has had temporarily as they acclimated to the drug.
Avatar m tn I've been going back and forth about whether I have a thyroid or hormonal imbalance for years. Every year I get my thyroid levels checked and they are always normal. I am a 32 year old woman and my mother was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in her 30's and now, at 63 has "intermittent hypothyroidism," i.e., sometimes her thyroid gets good blood flow and sometime it doesn't.
Avatar f tn Okay, My question is would being on wellbutrin with lexapro be better for me sexually than being on effexor and wellbutrin? I was on Effexor and Zoloft for about 7 yrs. I weaned myself off of Zololft about a year ago and weaned back to 75 mg of effexor from 150mg. I wanted to come completely off of Effexor because of the sexual side effects and because i wanted to be off of antidepressants so my doctor started me on wellbutrin and had me quit Effexor abruptly the next day.
Avatar f tn 3 years ago I was put on Zoloft, which helped w/ my anxiety and depression, but over 2 years I gained 30 lbs!! (Not to mention a ridiculous decrease in libido). I went down to such a small dose, my new dr. suggested I may not even need it. SO, after getting off completely (slowly of course), my anxiety increased, and he suggested I try Lexapro since I was concerned w/ the weight gain issue.
Avatar n tn 3mg of ambien to get to sleep while starting the course of Lexapro. After 6 weeks I was advised to move up to 20mg of Lexapro. For several months afterward, my anxiety all but diminished, the crawling/burning sensations were gone and my left fingers would become numb less and less (although they were never numb free). I did have some days early on of isolated odd burning spots on my left knee and outer right thigh as well as numbness in my toes but over time these went away.
