Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro lethargy

lexapro

Avatar n tn I just wanted to share my story about Lexapro. I took one 10mg Lexapro pill and 8 hours later had a severe adverse reaction to the drug. My life was about to become a nightmare.(This incident happened 14 months ago) My experience is rare but it is important to stress the dangers not explained by professionals in the field and there are many similarities between my experience and that of those who experience terrible withdrawal symptoms from SSRI's.
Avatar n tn I miss my energy and humor and feeling like I can handle things. The docs are still insisting I take xanax, clonidine along with my Lexapro. I'm trying to follow directions, but I get frustrated and don't take it sometimes because it seems to make me feel even slower and other times have tried taking more than they prescribed--trying to "medicate" like I did with the cough syrup. Forced myselfe to go walking yesterday-- I got the worse case of "itchy legs" I've ever had.
Avatar n tn I took 10 mg. of lexapro for 1-1/2 years. Tapered off the drug last month and now it has been 3 weeks since I've taken the pill. Headaches & dizziness are my biggest complaint. How long will it last and is there something I should take to ease these symptoms?
Avatar n tn I was on Zoloft forever and it never worked (and the side effects never went away) and my doctor put me on Lexapro. I felt alot of lethargy and dizziness at 20 mg. I just felt so unfocused, it was depressing. My doctor added Wellbutrin (slow release) and I feel like my life is coming together for the first time in my life. I take 150 mg of Well. My whole life, I had depression and severe anxiety and this combination (for what-ever reason) works for me.
Avatar n tn I have taken 5 mg Cipralex (Lexapro, Escitalopram) for 6 days but I am stopping because I cannot deal with the side effects. Am I likely to develop any type of withdrawal symptoms after such a short period of time on the medication? I experienced withdrawal symptoms when weaning off Paxil three years ago.
Avatar m tn i was on lexapro and that helped somewhat but not as well. wellbutrin helps with dopamine levels, lexapro with seratonin, so it depends on what your need is. it is all trial and error with the antidepressants to find which one works best for you. xanax is not an antidepressant, it is more for anxiety, and to be honest those things have made my depression worse. wellbutrin seems to work well for addict type personalities (which may or may not be you).
Avatar n tn I posted a while ago about performance anxiety and lexapro. I have recently been reading alot about people gaining alot of weight from this drug. I used to be overweight and this is a big problem if it will cause this. I was wondering if this is a norm or if pretty much everyone gains weight from it. It sucks if it does cause it is really helping with my anxiety. Also how long before the weight starts to go on... I've been on for about 2 weeks and go to the gyma about 5 to lift weights and run.
Avatar n tn After taking Lexapro for about 2 weeks, my husband began to to change - seemed less emotionally available, sort of closed and one tracked. He keeps very busy and away from close relationships. He says he is happy although does not appear to be. Could this be the Lexapro? If so, could you site some articles I might share with him?
Avatar n tn B-1 analogue for neurasthenia, to combat the weakness and lethargy from Lexapro and other drugs. I'm off any stimulants and can't drink coffee, so thinks like aniracetam, alpha GPC, and b-complex go a long way. I'm studying for the CPA exam and work 50-60 hr/week so believe me I'm fighting the same battle. Good luck everyone!
Avatar n tn I have been on Lexapro 30 mg for about 3 months. All of a sudden in the last few days I have been experiencing the electrical shocks that I had when I weened from Effexor several years ago. I have been taking my regular dosage regularly and was told by my doctor that this particular antidepressant would not have the similar withdrawal effects...and, I'm not even trying to withdraw. My current psychiatrist is out of town and I don't know what I can do to help alleviate these symptoms.
Avatar n tn WOW, reading your comments on Lexapro is so soothing to me, I have been telling my doctor for four years since she put me on Lexapro I can't loose weight and I swear Lexapro makes me gain weight. Her answer was when you turn 40 it gets harder and harder to loose weight. All my life I have been underweight, and when she said I had an anxiety disorder she put me on Lexapro. What a mistake, I am know 180 pounds and I can't loose a pound.
Avatar f tn I take 20mg Lexapro for anxiety and it makes me so tired. Does Lexapro make make anyone else tired and what do you do about it? Its the only med that has worked for me, but all I do is sleep and I have no motivation all.
Avatar n tn My question is sort of 2 fold. I've been taking Lexapro at a dose of 40mg and also Ativan PRN for the last 5 months. Before that, I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder and was being treated with 800mg of Seroquel XR daily, 4mg of Klonopin, and 150 of Effexor XR both daily as well. I went through Hell going cold turkey off the Seroquel, while weening from Effexor. I traded the Klonopin off for Ativan and weened it down from 2mg daily to now taking it as needed (generally .
709686 tn?1277435759 I decided to begin posting my day-to-day progress just in case someone else here is considering a Lexapro program. Before I began taking Lexapro I spent many hours on this board, as well as the depression board, trying to find something positive concerning this med. For every 1 good comment I found...I would find 25 negatives. I thought.."how could this be with SSRI's being the most prescribed med in the country?" Anyway...I hope my little journal here may help someone.
Avatar n tn I have been on 1000 mg Depakote for two weeks and I just want to get off of it. I am taking Lexapro and I think that is enough. I have cloudy urine, tremors, fatigue, lethargy, irritability, impulsive, and all sorts of stuff. I was given it for anxiety and nothing else.
Avatar n tn I've currently been taking 15mg of lexapro for about 14 months. Works great for my panic/anxiety. However, the tiredness side effect hasn't gone away, instead it seems to be worse. I could seriously sleep all day long if I didn't have to work. I take my meds at night. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. I tried taking it in the morning but that didn't help. I have a doc appointment and was wondering if anyone knows of any meds that work well but don't cause quite the drowsiness.
358304 tn?1409713092 But I know doing that is only letting my anxiety get to me. Do you think this is the Lexapro doing all this lethargy, fatigue? I was doing just fine for almost an entire month!!! I had energy! Was staying up late doing projects! I just don't know... I feel depressed... but I'm not one to get depressed, I have anxiety! I'm usually scared and wired... not tired and fatigue out of nowhere. I am having some anxiety now b/c I'm sick of this tiredness...
Avatar m tn She tapered down the dosage for the first month and has suffered for over two months with debilitating withdrawal symptoms - extreme and constant naseau, lethargy, diziness etc. Her OCD is back in full swing again now but we can't go back to Effexor knowing what we no know about it. We'd really appreciate some good advice on known medications for effective treatment of mild OCD?
Avatar f tn Anxiety Nausea Acid Reflux Vomited 1 time Brain zaps, especially when moving eyes from left to right strongly. Coming off of Remeron (Mirtazapine): Neuropathy symptoms - Strange electric jolts through my brain and body, keeping me from sleeping for nights. Super Bad Insomnia No appetite Lethargy Anxiety Pacing and more. However, the good news, all the symptoms left within 2-4 weeks. The difference sometimes is also HOW LONG you have been on the AD. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I take lexapro and have been for years and years, it doesn't really seem like it does much. Has anyone ever used Ambilify during opiate withdrawals to help with depression and anxiety? I know Ambilify isn't really a SSRI but helps make the current SSRI more effective which I would think would be great during times of low depression and lethargy. Just curious if anyone has tried this. Its not a narcotic and easy to get a script for or even order online.
Avatar f tn Wow, interesting information....I had never even heard of "seratonin syndrome". I may have had that once when I was on Zoloft. Not sure though. Anyhow, I've been on SSRI's for a long time also. I was on Zoloft for about 5+ years and then Celexa for 7+ years (I'm still on CELEXA, btw).
38309 tn?1270893703 I'm confident that I don't have clinical depression or panic disorder be/c I don't experience crying, lethargy, extreme anxiety attacks, etc. But I have become overly concerned with my health, especially after hearing my cardio express concern over the aortic insufficiency, and as I approach my delivery date.
Avatar m tn My wife has been on Lexapro and decided in March to start tapering off it. She has been gradually reducing dosage, as recommended, “by 10%” each time she makes a reduction. And each time she makes a 10% reduction, she stays on the newly reduced dosage for a period of two weeks.
Avatar m tn TRICYCLIC meds are stone age meds with terrible side effects , your 5 mg Lexapro was 10mg of its brother citalopram . mg.s are all different in meds . 20mg Lexapro I cannot have in ENGLAND has I am over 65 plus I don't want it, no sex drive and weight gain really bad . .10MG is just right if taking nothing else , but I take 6mg ATIVAN so I only take 5mg Lexapro it worked great for a long time.
Avatar f tn depression, lethargy, oily skin, excessive sweating, hot flashes --never cold, palpitations, sleeping disorder diagnosed as hypersomnia with unknown etiology; prescribed Xyrem to go to sleep; Ritalin 20 mg LA 1 bid q am to wake up!
Avatar f tn They say it takes anywhere from 2-3 weeks to get into your system. I take Lexapro. Just started back on it a week ago or so. I felt my thought process change the NEXT DAY! It's different for everyone! =) Question #2: The only reason you should take benedryl is if you have allergies. I know it's easy to do, b/c I'm tempted.... cause it helps me sleep. But it's not recommended to be used like that. Question #3: Side effects? Depends on the person. It's different for EVERYONE!
Avatar n tn This time around I had devloped constipation and massive belly weight. But I have stopped taking Lexapro and have been OFF it for 30 days and for some strange reason I am having major withdrawls. I weened off the drug for a month prior but now I am off it. I am OFF Lex but I am still constipated with a huge belly and so tired?
Avatar f tn I was already on Lexapro for depression long before I started treatment, and I upped my Lexapro dose at week 2. The Lexapro is working nicely at this point, and I am not depressed. I'm definitely very familiar with lack of energy and fatigue that comes from depression, but has anyone used Wellbutrin as an "energy booster" when they aren't depressed? I'm thinking that the NP just felt compelled to try to offer something when she saw me feeling so bad yesterday.... Oh. Labs. Hgb 13.
