s so sad to think a child would have to deal with such a thing. I now take Lexapro and feel alot better. Not 100% but I guess as good as it's gonna get for me. I recently noticed alot of anxiety signs in my 9 year old daughter. It's apparently something you can pass on to your children. (Can't even tell you how much it rips my heart out to know I gave this to my child) But it has affected her at school so her doctor prescribed Prozac.
I must say i am 25 now and have been having attacks since i was 17, at her age my doc put me on zoloft, and i also tried lexapro. Sometimes medications help and sometimes they dont. Everyone reacts differently. i know that answer ***** :-( i also have been trying everything but medication to help me cope, i go for walks, i go to counceling. i still have a prescription for zoloft which i havent started yet because i am so determined to control this on my own...
In 2006 I had a hysterectomy and my TSH was 0.8. I started on Lexapro a few months later. In 2007, while on Lexapro, my TSH was 1.76. In June 2008, my TSH was 2.56 and my doctor told me that if the level reaches 3.0, he would like to start me on therapy. Not only have I had a hysterectomy, been taking Lexapro, and Spirnolactone (for acne), I have gained 13 pounds. I am still 5'9 weighing 135, but I have never gained weight.
I took Lexapro for 3 years and LOVED it. It is one of the "cleanest" anti-depressants around, meaning it has fewer side effect and is one of the safest to take. It worked wonders for me but I relapsed into a bad depression in October of 2007 while on them. I needed a back up to Lexapro but most people dont. Don't fret. Lexapro is a good, clean, dependable medication that will hopefully help you to feel better.
I have suffered from anxiety for about 6 years, I take Lexapro. I started taking Birth Control less than a month ago and every few days I start feeling edgy, and have a hard time falling asleep. I have also awaken feeling this way too. It doesnt last long. Could this mean my dosage is too high?
I actually dont want to even take the pill. Taking anxiety medication is enough pills for me. Im only 31.

I quit my Lexapro about 3 weeks ago and didn't have the brain zaps and dizziness until about a week afterwards. It seemed a little better today. I am trying to slowly get back into exercise as my main coping mechanisim. My children aren't as young as yours, but I do have 2 children and a stressful job, etc...

I have been trying to wean my wife off Lexapro. Presently she is on 5mg daily. Originally she was on 20mg daily. As I understand the withdrawal regiment as one should not reduce the dosage until the patient is stabilized on that particular dosage. Since she has been on 5mg (2 months) we have experienced several symptoms and they have dissipated, however one symptom has lingered for three weeks. This one is absolutely driving her nuts.

I just wanted to say I am on this journey with you. I've been on Lexapro for five years (with the ocassional break). I have acute chronic anxiety and panic attacks. I've been weaning off 20 mg of Lexapro.
I too am beginning to experience some of the symptoms that reveal my anxiety disorder.
I cannot do SSRI's anymore - I've been on Paxil and Lexapro, both left me with weight gain (which dropped off quickly), and a complete loss of creativity.
Now I am on celexa which I absolutely HATE!!! I am so tired. I have four children and I dread everyday that i have to get up. I do not have any energy nor motivation to do anything no matter how hard i try. My doctor now wants to switch me to lexapro which is not on the $4 plan. I do not want to keep switching from one to another. Does anyone know how lexapro is? I will be paying almost as much as the wellbutrin xl, which i am willing to do to feel better.
I will not bore you with my past problems. I need help with the present problems. I am trying to wean off of Lexapro. I am down to 2.5 mg every other day. I have been on 10 mg for 3 years. I think Lexapro stopped working for me about 3 months ago. I have been and still waking up every morning early with anxiety and elevated bp. I also feel week in my legs. I start to feel better in the late afternoon.

I have a friend who has recently gone through pregnancy, childbirth, nursing, and weaning all while on and off lexapro and xanax, she did not do any of these meds steadily and it had ill effects on her own mental health as well as her ability to care for her child. Having watched her experience, I want to be sure I am over the withdrawal before I attempt a pregnancy. If I need to start back on the meds after the child is born, so be it.
My 10yr old daughter is slowly weaning off zoloft. She now is on 50mg with added Lexapro 5mg. It has been 2 weeks and she is still have freak out epesioides. She has phobias of everything and everything has to been done with a ritual attached. She cannot touch the floor,open doors. feed herself dress herself and go up the stairs. I am going crazy. She is in so much pain. I was wondering if a small dose of xanax would be okay when she freaks out?
But, from what you wrote, it appears your daughter does suffer from anxiety and not ADHD. Lexapro has not been approved for use with children; however, I do know of several who have used this medication for the treatment of anxiety and seemed to do well on it. Taking your daughter off the medication "cold turkey" is not - repeat not - a good idea. Nonetheless, it seems to me that you really need to see a specialist re the diagnosis and the treatment.
(There's no spell check:) I take 300 mg Wellbrutin and 10 mg Lexapro each morning. I take 200 lamitcal a bedtime. I take 4 mg of Xanax throughout the day to keep the anxiety at bay. I do not drink or take drugs. My Dr. implied he he wants to cut back on the Xanax since I just started taking the Lexapro last month. I felt a little calmer after the first 3 1/2 weeks of taking lexapro, but I have still have serious panic attacks (6 last month).
You body builds up a tolerance to the drug, which requires either a change in dosage, or switching to a different medication. This is common and most people experience this while taking an antidepressant. Just call your doctor and tell him that you feel it isn't working and he will know what to do.
How do I overcome sadness at not being able to fit in, The only place I am really happy is with my husband and children, I only feel secure going out if one of them is with me. People in local community think I'm weird when I'm really just shy. I have also overheard people saying I fancy everybody, which is so mean and untrue. Have suffered with Anxiety and Depression for the last 4 years, in that time I have been on Lexapro,Effexor and Cymbalta. About 8weeks ago Idecided to taper off Cymbalta as have felt that the medication seems to worsen my symptoms as well as making me extremely tired - I could sleep up to 16hrs a day which is not good with 2 young children.
I have been on Lexapro for 2 years 10 mg for 1 1/2 yrs and 20 mg for the past 6 months. I am unable to refill my prescription this month because it is just too expensive I had to choose between the lexapro and the meds I take for for a heart condition (cardiomyoathy).
My family MD started me on Lexapro and after six weeks my depression was getting much worse. He referred me to a psychiatrist who switched me to zoloft. After five weeks, my depression and anxiety seemed to be a little better and then a few hours ago, I had a meaningless thought about my children and WHAM, Huge anxiety attack. I was on zoloft a while back for years. It controlled my anxiety and depression very well then. I was surprised by the anxiety attack.
