Lexapro children

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro children

Avatar m tn I'm 36 now and off of the Lexapro, I have 1 or 2 friends (that I don't see very often and that's ok), 5 children, and a wonderful, supportive husband. I also take a multivitamin (the B vitamins are crucial for my mental well-being) and an herbal supplement called 5HTP which acts a lot like Lexapro, but isn't addictive. I hope my story helps a little. Tell her I said hi and that she sounds like someone I would really like.
232264 tn?1191252080 I will never ever take Lexapro again and do not recommend it to any woman who wishes to have children.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to wean my wife off Lexapro. Presently she is on 5mg daily. Originally she was on 20mg daily. As I understand the withdrawal regiment as one should not reduce the dosage until the patient is stabilized on that particular dosage. Since she has been on 5mg (2 months) we have experienced several symptoms and they have dissipated, however one symptom has lingered for three weeks. This one is absolutely driving her nuts.
Avatar n tn For the last two weeks I have been taking Lexapro because of the sexual side effects of Prozac and I
Avatar n tn Hello, I started taking Lexapro 10 mg per day for depression and OCD about 3.5 weeks ago. After initial titration dose of 5 mg/day for 4 days and getting used to some mild side-effects (nausea and fatigue) my dose was increased to 10 mg/day. My (chronic fatigue/apathy) depressed mood got better and I was doing fine for about a week. Then I developed midnight insomnia (wide awake at 2 am and unable to fall back asleep) and loss of libido.
Avatar f tn I have a friend who has recently gone through pregnancy, childbirth, nursing, and weaning all while on and off lexapro and xanax, she did not do any of these meds steadily and it had ill effects on her own mental health as well as her ability to care for her child. Having watched her experience, I want to be sure I am over the withdrawal before I attempt a pregnancy. If I need to start back on the meds after the child is born, so be it.
Avatar f tn I am trying to slowly get back into exercise as my main coping mechanisim. My children aren't as young as yours, but I do have 2 children and a stressful job, etc... If you need any encouragement let me know. I am up and down and at times desperate enough from the withdrawl issues to start taking meds again. But that just seems like starting all over again. I wish you the best! I have read of others successfully getting off the meds via diet and exercise. So there is hope.
Avatar n tn php They have all the info for before and after you take lexapro also they have pretty good prices Lexapro 10 mg - 30 Tabs $99.00 Lexapro 10 mg - 60 Tabs $167.00 Lexapro 10 mg - 90 Tabs $243.00 Lexapro 20 mg - 30 Tabs $96.00 Lexapro 20 mg - 60 Tabs $180.00 Lexapro 20 mg - 90 Tabs $250.
Avatar n tn I have been off lexapro for just over 2 weeks after tapering myself off. I feel like an emotional wreck-crying randomly and being hypersensitive and irrational to issues that normally wouldnt effect me like this. I just want to know how long these withdrawal symtoms can last? Is there an end in site?
Avatar n tn I currently weigh 150lbs and was 135 before having children. I don't know if the extra weight is from having children or from being on lexapro for so long. Also has anyones depression returned after stopping the lexapro?
Avatar m tn Anyway, his doctor has recommended we try a very low dose of either Celexa or Lexapro. My husband and I have held off giving him meds. for a couple of years now. Just wanted to hear from some parents that have children on either of these meds. Which drug is better?
Avatar f tn I can go back as far as 7 years of age and remember having anxiety, It's so sad to think a child would have to deal with such a thing. I now take Lexapro and feel alot better. Not 100% but I guess as good as it's gonna get for me. I recently noticed alot of anxiety signs in my 9 year old daughter. It's apparently something you can pass on to your children.
Avatar n tn I have been on Lexapro for 2 years 10 mg for 1 1/2 yrs and 20 mg for the past 6 months. I am unable to refill my prescription this month because it is just too expensive I had to choose between the lexapro and the meds I take for for a heart condition (cardiomyoathy).
Avatar n tn I have two beautiful children, a three year old and a 1 1/2 year old. I took lexapro through both my pregnancies and my children and perfect physically and mentally. There are NO studies out there that show it to be damaging to a fetus, or good for one for that matter. It is an individual choice. Problems in pregancy can come from so many factors. I had two miscarriages when I wasnt on antidepressants, so you and your doctor just need to decide what is best for YOU! Good luck!
Avatar f tn It worked wonders for me but I relapsed into a bad depression in October of 2007 while on them. I needed a back up to Lexapro but most people dont. Don't fret. Lexapro is a good, clean, dependable medication that will hopefully help you to feel better.
Avatar f tn i have been reading alot about everybody elses symptoms from trying to be free from taking lexapro, and they have given me some comfort in the fact that it is quiet hard and that dropping the doses should be done at ease!!! It started for me after the birth of my son and not being diagnosed for almost one year, the same week i was told, i also found out that i was pregnant again with another child...
Avatar n tn After taking Lexapro for about 2 weeks, my husband began to to change - seemed less emotionally available, sort of closed and one tracked. He keeps very busy and away from close relationships. He says he is happy although does not appear to be. Could this be the Lexapro? If so, could you site some articles I might share with him?
Avatar n tn I jumped in the shower, chilled out, paged the MD again and we both decided we'd stop the Lexapro and go back to trying Zoloft after a brief washout period. Lexapro seemed to have worked for me for that initial two week period but then as it began to work in my brain chemistry, it just did not seem to fit right....some meds for some people can be like this. I had total hope for it, with it's great decreased SE profile. I think for some it must be a godsend.
Avatar n tn (There's no spell check:) I take 300 mg Wellbrutin and 10 mg Lexapro each morning. I take 200 lamitcal a bedtime. I take 4 mg of Xanax throughout the day to keep the anxiety at bay. I do not drink or take drugs. My Dr. implied he he wants to cut back on the Xanax since I just started taking the Lexapro last month. I felt a little calmer after the first 3 1/2 weeks of taking lexapro, but I have still have serious panic attacks (6 last month).
Avatar f tn I must say i am 25 now and have been having attacks since i was 17, at her age my doc put me on zoloft, and i also tried lexapro. Sometimes medications help and sometimes they dont. Everyone reacts differently. i know that answer ***** :-( i also have been trying everything but medication to help me cope, i go for walks, i go to counceling. i still have a prescription for zoloft which i havent started yet because i am so determined to control this on my own...
Avatar m tn Ok I am on my 3rd week of lexapro, 3 days in or so into the week and there is no doubt I am better. I definetely dont get the bad stomache aches or panic very much (I was getting very frequent stomache aches/nausea/gas). I havent had a panic attack for at least a week. I notice I havent been feeling very happy lately. Some days I feel more out of it than others, I dont feel like I have a ton of energy, while sometimes I feel pretty good.
Avatar n tn A couple of months later I was placed on Lexapro (although they are made from the same companies and are essentilly the same drug) Anyway, I took the Lexapro and felt great (except for the 15 lb weight gain) I really wanted to be a better mom to my kids.I hated that I had absolutely no patience with them and they deserve better than that! About 2 months into it I slowly started getting those side effects to a lesser degree and I also was having urinary hesitency like I had to go but couldn't.
Avatar n tn After a length of time and MANY doctors visits, I started taking Lexapro and I've been on it ever since. Over the past few months I've been experiencing mood swings, anxiety, etc. so I decided to try something new. My doctor suggested Wellbutrin so for the past few weeks, I've been in the transition. I have felt ABSOLUTELY horrible-like I did back when all this first started. I have had 2 major panic attacks-I haven't had those in years!!
Avatar n tn If there is not a significant reason (financial issues, medical problems where the Lexapro is contraindicated) to go off the Lexapro, then simply don't. If it has helped you, then there is no reason you can not continue to take it, even long term. Especially because you are on a fairly low dose, you have lots of wiggle room should the dose ever need to be increased. MANY MANY of us have found ourselves caught in the trap of wanting to stop taking meds, for a host of reasons.
Avatar n tn But, from what you wrote, it appears your daughter does suffer from anxiety and not ADHD. Lexapro has not been approved for use with children; however, I do know of several who have used this medication for the treatment of anxiety and seemed to do well on it. Taking your daughter off the medication "cold turkey" is not - repeat not - a good idea. Nonetheless, it seems to me that you really need to see a specialist re the diagnosis and the treatment.
Avatar f tn I am currently withdrawing off of Lexapro after being on it for 12 years (18 years overall on SSRIs). I am hoping to get off of them to have children and because I don't believe I need them anymore, and probably haven't for a while. My psychiatrist weened me off over the course of 2.5 months, but now I have been off almost 7 weeks and I am experiencing the worst withdrawal symptoms! I never had anxiety before and my anxiety is off the chain.
Avatar n tn WOW, reading your comments on Lexapro is so soothing to me, I have been telling my doctor for four years since she put me on Lexapro I can't loose weight and I swear Lexapro makes me gain weight. Her answer was when you turn 40 it gets harder and harder to loose weight. All my life I have been underweight, and when she said I had an anxiety disorder she put me on Lexapro. What a mistake, I am know 180 pounds and I can't loose a pound.
Avatar f tn and he told me to go back to the 37.5 Effexor and 5 mg Lexapro since I felt good on that amount the first week that I changed over from 75 mg. effexor. This is my 5th day back on the original changed dose and I feel better than I did last week but still don't feel as good as I did the first week I changed. I don't understand that. It has been a total of 19 days since the change.
Avatar n tn My Successful Lexapro Withdraw Story (April 2008) I decided to take the time to write this because I had a very hard time finding anyone with similar withdraw experiences as me. I had an even harder time finding a successful taper schedule that minimized the withdraw side effects. What little information I found was a tremendous help in getting me through this challenging time. The piece of mind that “what I was experiencing was normal” was priceless.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro for a year and a half and recently decided to taper off due to fatigue and weight gain. I have mentioned cutting back to my doctor, but she seems adamant that I stay on the meds indefinitely. I do not agree with this because I am concerned about the long term effects, which are largely unknown. I am going to discontinue treatment with her due to changes in my insurance policy, so I decided to try to cut back on my own.
