synthroid

Avatar n tn I use to take Levothyroxin 125MCG tab mylan One and One/Half Tablet six days per week and One/Half Tablet one day per week. This was bought at Walmart. I started to obtain my Medication from the "VA". They sent me Levothyroxine NA ( Synthroid) 0.025MG Tab. Take One/Half once Daily. What is the differance between 125MCG and 0.025MG ? Will the dosage be correct ?
Avatar m tn I started taking levothyroxine again about 3 weeks ago again and have felt really terrible ever since. For whatever reason i have been not my outgoing energitic self. But really, really way to calm and relaxed. But i have also been like zombie because i was so tired as well.My tsh was 2.17 on.050 of levothyroxine and now the endo wants me to go to go up to .075 of synthroid. Does that sound like to much for my tsh?.I dont want to give myself a heart attack or anything.
Avatar f tn 75 mcg seems like a large dosage for someone with normal but borderline free T4. What was your TSH? My endocrinologist (who is generally very good but is confusing me with a recent issue, as I have posted about) likes to use TSH merely as an initial indication that there may be a thyroid problem, and then dose based on the actual thyroid hormone levels (particularly free T4.
Avatar m tn I have been taking the medication for 3 and 1/2 months (before this I might have indigestion once or twice a year), and now I am experiencing heartburn two to three times per week, bloating, and more pronounced balance problems. Should I decrease the Levothyroxine to the original dosage or talk to the doctor about increasing the dosage?
Avatar f tn The pharmacist is not authorized to change a medication and prescribe a dosage like that. 300 mcg of Levothyroxine is very high and it would be very rare to start out on such a dosage.
Avatar n tn without know you history I will say that you need to be on the levo for the rest of your life Your dose needs tweaking from time to time You realy should be have blood testsdat least every 3 months.I would suspect your illness is not from the levo but your dose needs to be tweaked and get you on the right dosage. In my case I have lost 22 pounds and I was on too high a dosage so I had blood labs and sure enough I needed to lower my dose of the levo.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm newly diagnosed hypothyroid. I've been taking 25mg levothyroxine for nearly 8 weeks now but I just feel worse and worse. It's really affecting my day to day life much more than before - I'm a student nurse and am struggling to make it through my shifts on a daily basis. Thinking my dosage is wrong - how long does it take for everything to become stabilised again? Not sure how I'm gunna carry on my nurse training at the moment :-( any comments appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results. I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely). I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now. I am experiencing a huge flux in anxiety (it was always pretty stable before since I have been on the Citalopram; I haven't had to take Xaxax in over 6 months).
Avatar f tn My TSH came back at .11. Do they increase or decrease the dose of levothyroxine to get it to the right level? I had my thyroid removed a year ago because of a multi-nodular goiter and I haven't had a normal level since. I am wondering if my doctor is doing this right. He is not an endoctrinoligist and I thinik perhaps I should find one to get this straighened out. My muscles hurt 24/7 and so far no one seems to be able to figure it out.
324691 tn?1302551842 First of all you need to start at a lower dosage if you have sensitivity issues. So 30mgs might not be a bad idea for the first week. Usual starting dosage to those who can handle it is 60mgs. Then you increase every 2-3weeks and do blood draws every 4 weeks. If you go to the health pages at top right corner, then you can go to armour info and at the bottom you will find the link to take you to the armour prescribing info sheet. Print this and take it to your dr.
Avatar f tn I have Hasimoto's disease and was given 50 mcg of Levothyroxine. My numbers did not improve and the dr increased the dosage to 75 mcg. Within a week and for 4 months I was an emotional, depressed, raging lunatic. I BEGGED to get a lower dosage and threatened to stop all together. Dr reluctantly lowered the dosage and I feel normal but tired, tired ALL the time. My next appt is coming up and know the dr will want to increase my dosage. Is there anything else I can take or do?
534785 tn?1329592208 I take 100mg of Flecainide Acetate twice daily for this and it seemed to work well until I began steadily increasing my Levothyroxine dosage from around 100mg to 175mg during the past 6 - 8 months.
Avatar f tn Ian terrified of dropping the levothyroxine dosage but hopefully his calculations are correct...I am going from 100 mcg of levothyroxine to 50 mcg and now the added liothyronine 5mcg twice a day. By my calculations that only adds up to the equivalent of 90 mcg of the original levothyroxine?... Sigh...I think I'll do my research, see how I feel and my results from the bloodwork in 6 weeks and perhaps start seeing someone new...
Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine for 8 weeks. I just got the results from my TSH and it is 4.97. I was at 5.0 This was discovered as a routine physical blood test because of my age. I felt fine except that I had a lump in my throat sensation. Since taking the drug, I have gained weight and am tired. More analysis was done this time and the results were Total T3 - 88.8 and T3 Free - 3.4. No second T-4 was done because it was considered normal in the original test.
Avatar f tn Just curious if there is a difference with the 2 meds. I take 125 mcg Levothyroxine now. Dr switched me to Synthroid...would the dosage stay the same? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have unusually sore muscles after minimal work-outs and cannot regain my usual strength, fatigue and weakness, just feel sickly often. My skin is shriveling before me. I have headaches, took 2 years losing 30 lbs gained-but did with extreme exercise. Just had an extreme UTI/kidney for no reason. Had every test my Dr knows.
Avatar f tn I was recently prescribed 0.025 levothyroxine and my hypothyroid symptoms seem to be getting worse. Is that normal when starting on a low dose? The only thing I am worried about is my heart. It feels weird, kinda like a tightness and my pulse is lower then normal. I am also getting pain in my upper back. I had these issues before starting the medication but seems to be getting worse and starting to be paranoid. Should i stop taking it? My appointment isn't for another three weeks.
Avatar f tn 75mcg which is the correct dosage, I have taken almost the entire bottle, I need a refill this how I noticed the dosage was wrong. Is there a big difference between mcg and mg? Could this be harmful?
Avatar f tn 05MG one in the AM as a back up ( in case I cant get my Armour RX filled ) Is it OK to switch from Armour to the cytomel/levothyroxine and is the dosage equivalent ? I notice when I take my Armour, I feel very hot/warm and somewhat irritable afterwards for a few hours. Is that a normal side effect? I have an enlarged pituitary and enlarged pituitary stalk , which is monitored by MRI yearly.
Avatar n tn I have been on levothyroxine for 2 years and after tweaking it for awhile I finnalygot the right dosage. I feel pretty good, been loosing weight, I think though I may have to get my dosage changed since I have lost from 214 of last fall to 187 as of today. Got a doc appoin ment next month for tessts so we shall see.
Avatar f tn Hi, I take 150mcg of levothyroxine a day and I don't feel any of thise things.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
Avatar f tn 5 ug levothyroxine, but this dosage has not helped, and I am feeling aches, fatigue and arrhythmia again. I feel that I should be better, my Dr. probably won't increase my levo. dosage with the TSH being under 1. (I didn't ask for t3 uptake, that was my Dr's request). My Vitamin D is low at about 20 ng/mL, but when I try to raise it past 1000 IU my arrhythmia seems to bother me more. Any suggestions about where to go from here would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Yes, it's possible. I did much better on generic levo than I did on synthroid. We're all different and we react differently to fillers/binders used to make the pills. Also, in your case, it's not unusual for symptoms to return, worsen or for new ones to appear, when changing med or dosage. It's just your body adapting to the new med/dosage. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the new med/dosage to take full effect, then your body still has to "get well".
