Avatar n tn I use to take Levothyroxin 125MCG tab mylan One and One/Half Tablet six days per week and One/Half Tablet one day per week. This was bought at Walmart. I started to obtain my Medication from the "VA". They sent me Levothyroxine NA ( Synthroid) 0.025MG Tab. Take One/Half once Daily. What is the differance between 125MCG and 0.025MG ? Will the dosage be correct ?
Avatar f tn 75 mcg seems like a large dosage for someone with normal but borderline free T4. What was your TSH? My endocrinologist (who is generally very good but is confusing me with a recent issue, as I have posted about) likes to use TSH merely as an initial indication that there may be a thyroid problem, and then dose based on the actual thyroid hormone levels (particularly free T4.
Avatar f tn There is lots of info around that suggests that it is good to verify cortisol levels and ferritin levels before even starting on thyroid meds. So, I always have a suspicion when patients have unexpected reactions to meds, that they need to do some further tests as mentioned.
Avatar f tn A very low starting dose can actually have the effect of lowering serum T3 and T4 levels. You have to monitor levels very carefully and frequently until you've been on a stable dose for a while. Your doctor's reliance on total T3 and total T4 and the fact that she hasn't ordered lab work in 3 months makes me suspect she may not be the greatest thyroid doctor. Have you considered shopping for a new one?
Avatar f tn I was recently prescribed 0.025 levothyroxine and my hypothyroid symptoms seem to be getting worse. Is that normal when starting on a low dose? The only thing I am worried about is my heart. It feels weird, kinda like a tightness and my pulse is lower then normal. I am also getting pain in my upper back. I had these issues before starting the medication but seems to be getting worse and starting to be paranoid. Should i stop taking it? My appointment isn't for another three weeks.
Avatar f tn Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
Avatar f tn My TSH came back at .11. Do they increase or decrease the dose of levothyroxine to get it to the right level? I had my thyroid removed a year ago because of a multi-nodular goiter and I haven't had a normal level since. I am wondering if my doctor is doing this right. He is not an endoctrinoligist and I thinik perhaps I should find one to get this straighened out. My muscles hurt 24/7 and so far no one seems to be able to figure it out.
Avatar f tn 025 mcg levothyroxine side effects to get over took me 9 weeks went back to dr for bloodwork and was told me cholesterol had increased and my numbers had not changed so the dr increased my dosage to .050 mcg levothyroxine i started this the end of february and it is may and i am still experiencing tiredness, mood swings, depression, anxiety all severe why? and does this ease up?
Avatar f tn 5 ug levothyroxine, but this dosage has not helped, and I am feeling aches, fatigue and arrhythmia again. I feel that I should be better, my Dr. probably won't increase my levo. dosage with the TSH being under 1. (I didn't ask for t3 uptake, that was my Dr's request). My Vitamin D is low at about 20 ng/mL, but when I try to raise it past 1000 IU my arrhythmia seems to bother me more. Any suggestions about where to go from here would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I’ve been taking the generic Levothyroxine for about 11 yrs and then I went to see an endo for the first time and he switched me to Synthyroid and now I feel horrible. Has anyone else experienced this? My symptoms are all over the place; hungry but then feel sick after eating, burning feeling in hands and feet, tired, dizzy, brain fog, cold hands, hot red feet, just an overall ill feeling. These symptoms started 5 days after starting Synthyroid.
Avatar m tn I have been taking the medication for 3 and 1/2 months (before this I might have indigestion once or twice a year), and now I am experiencing heartburn two to three times per week, bloating, and more pronounced balance problems. Should I decrease the Levothyroxine to the original dosage or talk to the doctor about increasing the dosage?
Avatar n tn I have been taking levothyroxine/synthyroid 100 mg for many years and feel just fine. I am 55 years old. I exercise about 45 minutes every day (brisk walking, tennis, swimming or cycling). My new internist wants to reduce my dosage to 75 mg after getting slighly high readings on my T4 levels. What are the risks of just leaving me on the 100 mg level of the medication as I am not experienceing any symptoms of hyperthroidism?
Avatar f tn What dosage of levothyroxine are you taking and when did you start? There aren't supposed to be side effects, but some people are sensitive to starting on higher dosages.
Avatar m tn It is reasonable to support the patient with 50mcg of levothyroxine during this phase and watch thyroid levels carefully to determine trend and the need for long-term levothyroxine (as well as dose titration) due to permanent hypothyroidism (ie, if it is not a transient thyroiditis).
Avatar f tn Serum thyroid levels are comprised of natural thyroid hormone and also any thyroid medication. When starting on thyroid meds, the TSH will be diminished according to the dosage. The reduced level of TSH will then stimulate the thyroid gland less, resulting in diminished output of thyroid hormone. So often when starting on thyroid med, frequently serum levels don't go up until the dosage is such that the TSH level becomes suppressed below range. Then the serum level will start to rise.
Avatar n tn i am not saying you are experiencing pure hyperthyroid symptoms instead more specifically said 'a thyroxine overload' condition.
Avatar m tn Yes, it's possible. I did much better on generic levo than I did on synthroid. We're all different and we react differently to fillers/binders used to make the pills. Also, in your case, it's not unusual for symptoms to return, worsen or for new ones to appear, when changing med or dosage. It's just your body adapting to the new med/dosage. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks for the new med/dosage to take full effect, then your body still has to "get well".
Avatar m tn My Tsh is stil 0.67 after reducing my levothyroxine dosage. 4 weeks ago it was 0.17 My old dosage was 150mcg x 5 days, 100mcg x 2 days New dosage is 150mcg x 3 days, 100mcg x 4 days. Latest Tg is 0.5 TgAb is 1.0 Thyroid Peroxidase 1.
Avatar f tn About 7 weeks ago, I found out that my TSH was 202 (4.5 months after delivering my 2nd child by c-section). My endo started me on 125mcg of Levothyroxine. I haven't had my levels rechecked since then. For the last 3 days, I have had tingling on the right side of my head and a headache. Just this morning, I got dizzy and almost passed out. I am nauseous and lightheaded. Could this be from my medication dosage being too high and my levels going down?
1685558 tn?1305388557 He insists not go to an endocrinologist and is followed by a general surgeon, so I doubt it. My father took 150 micrograms levothyroxine for a year and was 150 micrograms of TSH, T3 and T4 normal, but now has a very low TSH and normal T3 and T4. The doctor lowered the dose of levothyroxine and will now take a dose of 100 micrograms, like me, that I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, but I'm so much thinner and smaller than him. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I spent the night in the ER about 4 weeks ago after having chest pains and was told that my TSH level was at 63. They gave me IV synthroid and told to take my prescribed dosage. I followed up with my GP and was told to increase my dosage of synthroid to 150 mg until they got my blood work back. The next day my GP told me to take 150 mg 6 days a week and 300 mg on the 7th. After 3.5 weeks (while at the gym) I started to have chest discomfort.
