Avatar f tn But this week my weight started shooting up again my stomach is bloated and I am getting headaches and feeling very dizzy . I checked my blood pressure in cvs and it came to 140/100 which i understand is stage 1 hypertension. I haven't had hypertension before. Is his bcoz of levothyroxine ? I have my next appointment only in June. Will it be advisable to check with my doctor before that.
Avatar m tn There are several reasons for your erectile issues, including the hypothyroidism(which contrbutes quite a bit), possible side effects from the blood pressure agents, side effects of having high blood pressure in the first place, and even the possibility of a low testosterone(which should be checked). Speak with your doctor about increasing your thyroid dose, possible side effects of your blood pressure agents and getting your blood pressure down, and also testing your testosterone levels.
Avatar m tn dehlibelly... I'm not terribly familiar with all the other medications, but I'm very familiar with the thyroxine and the lasix, since I take them both, myself... As you know, Levothyroxine is used to treat hypothyroidism, however, starting an elderly person on 100 mcg is almost unheard of; in fact, starting most people on that high a dosage is quite rare. Do you know what his actual thyroid hormone levels were when he was started on the Levothyroxine or what they are now?
Avatar f tn The doc has increased the dose of levothyroxine again and I am to come back in 6 weeks. How long will it take before I start to feel any improvements? Obviously I should be back on track in 6 weeks. I just have been feeling poorly for 7 weeks and would like to know when I can expect to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Avatar m tn My medication level is .75 mcg of levothyroxine once daily. Is high blood pressure a commom side effect of being hypothyroid?
Avatar f tn I had high blood pressure for many years before being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. However, the periods when I have been overmedicated with Levothyroxine my blood pressure has gone out of control. Last January my blood pressure started spiking and my heart was racing and my Endo lowered my dosage of Levo. Then about a month ago it happened again and it has been lowered again. Is it possible that your dosage of thyroid medication is too strong? You might mention this to your doctor.
Avatar f tn I have well controlled blood pressure (with metoprolol and HCTZ). I am so anxious about this but also realize that heart problems can be caused by hypothyroidism....catch 22. Hope I get a response from this inquiry from someone.
Avatar f tn I know that thyroid disease causes high blood pressure and high cholesterol , but i am not aware of the medication raising it, it does increase your heart rate, due to speeding up your metabolism but medications affect everyone different and I suppose it would be possible 120/70 is a good range, MD's differ on opinions on what constitutes high blood pressure, I have been told under 120 was ideal by one and under 130 by another.
390388 tn?1279636213 Last night I forgot to take my blood pressure medicine. Today I got up feeling shaky. I didn't think much about it. Took my Levothyroxine and started my day. Then 1 1/2 hours later I still felt shaky only worse, I thought it could be my sugar too low. It was ok at 98. Then I took the rest of my pills (BP pills and cholesterol pill) and went to let the dogs out. The shaking was threw my whole body and I thought I was going to get sick.
894666 tn?1274097896 6 days ago increased to 88 mcg. Yesterday at GYN appt I was told I have high blood pressure, which I have never had before. It has always been normal. I also suddenly feel shaky and have a little chest pain. Do you think this could be from the increase from 75 to 88? I am not due to have labs done for another 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn t done well on Levothyroxine. For the previous 8 months I was taking generic 137 mcg. I developed high blood pressure and insomnia with the occasional anxiety. Two months ago I started taking Tirosint at a lower dose 112. Blood pressure better but recently have been prone to extreme panic attacks. They have gotten so bad I have developed agraphobia. I recently had T4 & T3 checked but are at a normal level. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar n tn Symptons are always have been cold, tired, joint and muscle pain worse in fingers, I took Vioxx before it was removed , high blood pressure , tinnitus, completely deaf over 2,500 cycles in both ears. Hearing aids made no difference. Dentist last month couldn't freeze my gums with 2 needles of Carbocaine. 7mm nodule on thyroid. Blood tests TSH 2.15 ( range .465 to 4.68 ) FT4 11.17 ( range 10 to 28.2 ) Total T3 2.02 ( range .92 to 2.
Avatar n tn You need to start levothyroxine ASAP - you have two high TSH levels confirming hypothyroidism. Would test thyroid antibodies to confirm this is hashimoto's (increased risk due to mom's history of Graves).
Avatar f tn The pharmacist is not authorized to change a medication and prescribe a dosage like that. 300 mcg of Levothyroxine is very high and it would be very rare to start out on such a dosage.
Avatar m tn My lab results are suggestive of hypothyroidism. My blood pressure is high (130/ 95), but I don't have other symptom of hypothyroidism. I am 34 yrs male and my weight is 70 Kg. My lab results are: TSH - 6.17 (0.5-5.0) T4(free) - 0.87 (0.58- 1.64) TPO antibody - 314.9 (0-34) THY antibody - 47.8 (Increased) My doctor has suggested me to start Levothyroxine sodium tab (112 mcg). What you think, whether I have hoshimoto disease? should I take this medicine?
Avatar m tn These meds caused my high blood pressure and the THYROID med also gave me high blood sugar that went away after reducing the med. I am curdrently on 75 mcg of Synthroid...was on 100 mcg until last week. My blood pressure has dropped from 175/102 to 128/75 in the first few days of reduction. Amazing.
390388 tn?1279636213 Amy, I'm concerned. I frankly know a great deal about diabetes, having had it for a long time, and having lost several friends and family members to the disease. I would suggest you research it again. An A1C rating is 6 is very good, below the average. However, it isn't rated 4 - 6, its open-ended both high and low. A fasting glucose level of 150 would concern me very much, that's way to high. Tight control of glucose level would be a reading of no more than 100.
1052292 tn?1274457092 of Levo per day and immediately all of those symptoms went away and I began to feel much better. Blood pressure and heart rate have returned to normal, no more anxiety, headaches are gone, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had an experience like this. I talked to my Endo last week and they want me to have bloodwork done so they can see my levels but there is no way I am going back to 100 mcg. when it made me feel as badly as it did.
Avatar f tn I am unsure of the effects of thyroid meds on the liver, but I do know that Statin Drugs to treat High Cholesterol do affect the Liver Enzymes and raise them in many people, High Cholesterol is known to be caused by thyroid disease, along with high blood pressure. Alcohol has the same effect on liver enzymes as the statin drugs, The first time I had a Lipid panel done after being prescribed Lipitor , the MD's nurse asked me if I was aheavy drinker?
Avatar m tn Internal “shaking” 24/7 (worsens at night and upon awaking) ; constant fatigue; high blood pressure; high triglyceride levels; taste change (used to LOVE sweets, now I hate them); excessive weight gain in middle; abnormal hair growth; acne; take deep breathes often; sensitive to light; skin is very thin; bruise easily; left eye pain, with headache; “episodes” where I lose coordination and all symptoms worsen; tiny red dots over torso, chest, and top of thighs (not raised); mood swings; get VERY
