SO i stopped taking it.. Now all these symptoms have happened. I am very active.. Work out faithfully. 3 miles on the treadmiill 6x a week.. I still gain weight. My hair is thin, brittle and falls out. What exactly does 6500tpo ab mean anyways.. He said I would be hypo later.. just dont know how soon!
Avatar n tn Have you called your physician and talked with him about your weight gain? Has your level of excercise decreased and has your diet changed? Are you possibly stressed out about something? I think before you start messing around with thyroid supplements - you should take a look at what may be going on first. If your concerned about your weight address that - If your concerned you have a thyroid disorder - call your MD and get more tests.
Avatar f tn Sorry you aren't feeling well. I've be Hypo/Hasi for 14 years now. My temp is normal at 96/97 so don't worry too much about that. It takes a few months to get regulated, least with me anyway. I have a problem with Flax seed, you may want to research that more. What is good for some thyroid people aren't always good for you. I myself can not have too much soy; It make me very tired and achy. I'm 51 now and premenopausal so really struggling with weight gain.
Avatar n tn I take thyroid meds 75mcg (levothroid) now does too much cause swollen tongue and puffy face I have been on 88mcg and 100mcg it scares me so I went back down to 75 but I have been so tired talk to my dr at kaiser any help gained weight can not lose any try hard too please help nellie
Avatar n tn If you do take a brand name, another possibility for requiring a dose change is recent weight gain or loss. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn i still have the same symptoms (always cold/bbt is 96.1, weight gain even with limited calories and good workout program, poor memory, swelling/bloating/water retention, very tired & fatigued). i am in the process of running a bunch of labs. cushings came back negative, waiting to verify if i have a hereditary adrenal tumor. my TPOAB is still high and my TSH is high so the endo called today and said to take my normal dose all week and then 112.
Avatar f tn it all started with a severe headache and after the increased urinating/ thirst ,and because of it get dehydration then coldness, weight gain specially in my mid section, my arms and leg are thin also been getting striae thighs and breast.have loss menstrual cycle get the cramps without the bleeding, acne, muscle weakness also bone been cracking all the time and i barely eat because i dont have appetite.
899045 tn?1241824973 I have been working really hard with my weight-loss, I exercise more than most people I know in my weight loss group, 65oz of water per day, 20-25 carbs, Veggies, Lean meats, no sugars, you name it, I've been doing it. I am also HypoThyroid and on 50mcg of Levothroid. My weight loss had been a upward battle, very hard battle. Anyhow, I spoke to a Dr. on the phone (My Dr. is out on leave), she looked at my chart and said that as we get older, we exercise less. I am only 35.
Avatar n tn If you are hypothyroid, you will probably need the med for life. When taken in the proper amount prescribed by your doctor, it will prevent health issues related to being hypo.
Avatar f tn I know this will sound impatient but after SO long of feeling awful and weight gain, I want to know how long you all think it will take before I start feeling better? I've only been on the drug 10 days, but I'm just anxious to start feeling better!
Avatar n tn If you suffer from Hypothyroidism, it would be silly to stop your T4 med unless you have gone Hyper (from too high a dose) and in which case, you only stop for a few days to bring the levels down faster, Explain some more of your history and levels if you can.
2107831 tn?1334007877 I am only 38 yrs old and now on Levothroid and Statin drugs for high cholesterol. I know it will be harder to loose the weight now.. Harder than ever before... (great like it was that easy before the thyroid) Any info would be greatly appreciated.. TB.
Avatar f tn been on a strict diet - thinking that I would start to lose weight or atleast my weight would stabilize. I continued to gain weight at a rate of 1.5 - 2kgs every few months. To make matters worse, I injured my back in Oct 07 - so it's been like a double whammy as far as trying to lose weight! I too had a constant period (since about 2003) while I was hyper (undiagnosed & unaware).
Avatar m tn I did very well during the last few year of Synthroid and actually started loosing the weight. But the non-smoking and hypo symtoms have caused me to gain weight again. I'm still hopeful to start losing thru exercise.
Avatar f tn I would be at my desk and out of nowhere, my heart would start racing, I would get hot and sweaty, and I felt lightheaded. Since I have started taken Levothroid, this has seemed to stop. My heart will still occasionally beat a little faster but it's nothing like what it used to be. I had an echocardiogram done on my heart as well as numerous EKG's and chest x-rays. The only thing that showed was mild mitral valve prolapse. I'm not very familiar with Hashimoto's.
1263014 tn?1318032697 I have been going through my ups and downs this past eight weeks since my thyroidectomy. Levothroid all the way up to 137mcg and now back down to 100mcg due to shaky hands and muscles twitching and insomnia. I am now more at an appropriate dose for my 140 pounds, but......I now wake up in the morning shaky, sweaty, very extremely thirsty, heart racing and low b/p. I am fatigued and losing weight. I know this question has been asked many times and I need to ask again.
Avatar f tn worried about possible weight gain? And what foods or vitamins etc. to avoid and those that will help. Also I wish for all of you to know this has been a hard thing to deal with but even this soon after the surgery I feel more energy than before and can breath and swallow better despite breathing tube placement for surgery. Although I was long in recovery I was able to walk out of hospital on two feet the next morning, I almost did not have energy to walk in there.
Avatar f tn After the diagnosis of Hashimitos (I already have cholitis), I have been taking 75mcg levothroid and the node disappeared. None of my symptoms have disappeared, however. I gained 45 lbs in a 2 year period mostly around my stomach and my tissue around my neck (clavicle) are noticeably swollen. I have fatigue, sore, achy body especially my lower back and right hip. I am not the same person. I went back to my family physician and he did blood tests. TSH was high, but T4 and T3 were normal.
Avatar f tn hi along with the weight gain i have hair loss sluggishness and still some brain fog i was changed from levothyroxine to eltroxin which is the generic my tsh is 0.
1099201 tn?1338180918 You're not alone, Shennigan. I have had a series of emotional liability symptoms myself. I was always moody, so I am not sure how long my bipolar feelings have been connected to Hashimoto. Majority of mood swings happened soon after I started taking Levothroid 50mg. I was NOT myself. From one moment I was laughing with my friends, then bursting out at them with anger that they interrupt me, when I talk.
Avatar n tn Hello. I had a total thyoidectomy in 1995 and have been on a suppressive dose of Levothroid ever since. I have already developed osteoporosis, which I have been told is most likely connected to the Levothroid dosage. Recently, I have been reading about an additional connection between high thryroid hormone levels and Alzheimer's Disease. I am extremely concerned about this issue. If you can give further information, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
