Avatar m tn Montec Lc is montelukast 10 mg and levocetirizine dihydrochloride 5 mg. Montelukast belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists. It is used to prevent allergic symptoms. It works by blocking the action of substances that cause inflammation, fluid retention and mucous secretion. So, it is prescribed long term as preventive measure, so you can take it for 90 days. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn Hi, stuffy head, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat are the symptoms of common cold due to infection or allergic rhinitis. Some viruses causing infection are rhinovirus, influenza, adenovirus, echovirus etc. Infection is transmitted through inhaling droplets and touching infected areas. Avatar m tn Hello, These symptoms are suggestive of sunburns. Sunburn results when the amount of exposure to the sun or other ultraviolet light source exceeds the ability of the body's protective pigment, melanin, to protect the skin. Apply cool compresses on the area and take bath with cool(not very cold) water. Do not scrub your skin or shave your skin and use a soft towel and gently pat your skin dry.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
4371309 tn?1357956329 My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.
5079728 tn?1365549989 So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.
Avatar f tn An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
Avatar n tn But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.
765828 tn?1306263868 , there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.
Avatar f tn yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

Avatar f tn Some of the chemotherapeutic drugs can cause generalized itching and rashes all over the body. Discuss it with her treating oncosurgeon.Other causes of itchy sores all over body are allergies, dermatitis, urticaria or hives, scabies, pityriasis rosea. She may take an antihistamine like Benadryl for relief in symptoms. Application of calamine lotion may provide a soothing effect. It is possible that these sores have become secondarily infected due to constant itching.
