Letrozole vs aromasin

Common Questions and Answers about Letrozole vs aromasin

femara

Avatar n tn December 14, 2009 (San Antonio, Texas) — New results coming from 2 mature trials with exemestane (Aromasin, Pfizer) suggest that this aromatase inhibitor differs slightly from the other 2 available products, letrozole (Femara, Novartis) and anastrozole (Arimidex, AstraZeneca). Although all 3 are aromatase inhibitors, exemestane is a steroidal product that binds irreversibly to the estrogen receptor; the other 2 products are both nonsteroidal and are reversible inhibitors.
Avatar n tn Please discuss with your treating doctors, the option of switching aromatase inhibitor therapy to one of the other agents, such as Femara (Letrozole) or Exemestane (Aromasin), to determine whether you would better tolerate these other drugs. I wish you well and I hope that something can be done to alleviate your discomfort....
Avatar n tn t want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs? also - i will be in NY when Af starts - and will hopefully make it back somewhere between CD2-5 or i will have to have CD3 labs and US done up there and rx called in there as well. so nervous and hesitant to spend so much $ - esp when we have a blessing with our 2.5 yr old. thoughts?
Avatar f tn He tried me on one more round of clomid 150mg to no avail. I had an HSG done and all tubes were clear. I was then put on letrozole (femara) days 3-7. Went in on day 14 for an u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Did OPK for a few days and got my +. Went in the following day and had IUI. I am now 12.5 weeks pg with TWINS! It can and it does work!!!
Avatar f tn He did not give me Tamoxifen first followed by Aromasin, but just Aromasin for 5 years. Is this acceptable ? I am 57 years old, mother of 4 children. Please advise.
Avatar n tn After a second, early stage breast cancer, treated by a lumpectomy and radiation and after tamoxafin and aromasin therapy for 7 years after a mastectomy for the first breast cancer, can you resume tamoxafin after the radiation therapy and would it be helpful?
107366 tn?1305680375 I have been on Aromasin for about 12 weeks. I took Femara for a short time back last fall, and again this spring. Are any of you on Aromasin, Femara, Tamoxifen, or Arimidex experiencing joint/bone pain? If so, do you find it getting worse the longer you are on it? I finally got off IV chemo in favor of taking AI's because IV chemo was doing too much damage and I needed a break. My cancer is highly estrogen positive so AI's seem to be the choice for me at the moment.
Avatar f tn m a big fan ( i never took clomid, since i have endo, they wanted me straight to femara(letrozole)) it doens't thin your lining like clomid and doesn't strip away cervical mucus like clomid can for some people.. we did femara two cycle, then femara and follistim the last one (all with IUI's - we have a TON of issues!!) and we did get preg! : ) miscarried at 9 weeks, but it did work which is huge!!! GOOD LUCK!!! my prayers are with you! let us know if yo uhave any questions!
Avatar f tn I'm taking Aromasin and side effect for that is osteoporoses and I used to take calcium which I stopped as soon as my ALK was up. Does any one else have a similar problem?can Aromasin cause ALK to rise???
135691 tn?1271097123 He offered me Tamoxifin but I told him I wanted to try Arimidex or Aromasin - he wrote me a prescription for 25mg of aromasin per day. I haven't gotten the prescription filled yet - reading all these scary things on-line about how awful the bone pain is, is making me have flashbacks to my Taxol days. I'm totally having second thoughts now. Does anyone know if you can split the pill in half? I'm wondering if that would make a difference at all...

Avatar f tn There are several that you can google. Femara, Aromatase, Aromasin, and Tamaxifen. Some of these inhibitors are also for Breast Cancer. Sorry if my spelling is wrong. There is another inhibitor called Avistan (not for hormones). Hope this helps...
Avatar f tn I've had three cancers, all estrogen positive. I tried a few medications and I'm now on Aromasin, an estrogen inhibitor. I figure I'll try the Aromasin and see if it gives me more protection from a recurrence. It's the least debilitating of the aromatase inhibitors for me, but it does cause joint pain. It's in clinical trials right now for ovca, but I am NOT waiting for the results of the trial.
492898 tn?1222243598 I know everyone is different and all that but thought maybe someone can share their experiences or other knowledge about Aromasin? I was on Tamoxifen, then switched to Arimidex which was a nightmare. Then Femara which was a little less horrible but too horrible to continue. The I went back on tamoxifen and today I saw my oncologist and he wants me to try Aromasin. He says the reason is mostly because of my taking prozac, and the problems this can cause with Tamoxifen.
Avatar f tn I learned that Aromasin and Arimidex are quite different. Aromasin permanently binds to the Aromatase and Arimidex is temporary. I'll have to do more research about what that means chemically.
Avatar m tn Gave me symptoms. I am now on letrozole. Also experiencing symptoms. Will letrozole keep this cancer away. Is there a smaller does than 2.5 of letrozole that I can take.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar f tn I'm on a newer member of the aromatase inhibitor family: Aromasin. It suppresses the release of estrogen. Aromasin is in clinical trials for ovarian cancer at the moment, but I'm not waiting for the trials to be over. It took only a few months to lower my estradiol, which is at a negative 20 right now. My cancer(s) were all estrogen dependent. Oddly enough, though, not all female cancers are estrogen dependent, so have your friend check to see if hers was.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
