Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar n tn Unexplained infertility for 1.5 years. I am not sure what could be the reason for my infertility , it might be endo but they didn't do a laparo for me yet. If anyone can tell me what other options do I have if Clomid failed?? So what worked for you ?
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used letrezole after clomid, if so where u successful
Avatar n tn Hi, I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant and had the d&c 3weeks 4days ago. Just before i found out i was pregnant my doctor had prescribed me letrozole femara which I didnt end up needing to take. Unfortunately, because I was so overwhelmed with grief over the miscarriage and could not think rationally, I decided to take the letrozole counting the bleeding from the d&c as a period in which i used from day 2 throught to day 6.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Femara is a drug which is very effective fertility treatment for women with ovulation problems, or for those with unexplained infertility. It causes increase in the output of FSH and has also been used as an alternative to clomiphene. The chances of conceiving are improved if no other fertility issues are present, the female partner is under 35 years old and a woman who was not ovulating starts ovulating. Do consult your attending doctor for more queries and suggestions.
1121300 tn?1426184776 Hi Sherry, I only did the trigger injection with clomid and it worked. Mine was right about $1200 as well since my insurance doesn't cover infertility. Hope you have good luck with this, it will be worth it!

795248 tn?1250686616 Hi! I am 31y.o. and have unexplained infertility. Have had a laproscopy and cromotubation and tons of blood work and I am perfectly healthy and beyond perfect for conception. Except for the fact that I can't conceive. My husband is perfect also. We've tried clomid for 4mos. and letrozole plus iui last month and tested this morning and got a neg hpt. I'm starting to lose hope. Has anyone else been here??
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn From a obgyn to a fertility specialist. I took letrozole and yes menopur shot too. So far my eggs and lining were looking good. We used timed intercourse. No luck yet. Going to try the same meds and iui next tho. Talk to ur doc abt switching from clomid.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.
1626928 tn?1378850167 Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn how long is a typical cycle of femara (2.5mg)? what are the success rates with this in infertility? This discussion is related to Femara 2.5 mg.
1204794 tn?1300704113 I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. By Day 5 I'm ready to quit letrozole because it makes my bones a bit achy, my breasts are super tender and less firm, and overall I feel like I constantly have a buzz that you get with one glass of wine.
Avatar f tn Hi, Typically ovulation monitoring is carried out along with ovulation stimulating drugs like Letrozole. The monitoring can be done through external sonography but infertility specialists prefer vaginal sonography to find out the exact date when you ovulate and also the size of follicle(s).
Avatar f tn I had first round of IUI in March after 3 years of infertility and ended up miscarrying at 7 weeks. What are the odds we will get pregnant again soon? I didnt get my first period post miscarriage for about 6 weeks; so thought about trying again next month (July). Need some encouragement.

Avatar m tn My AF started a few days earlier than expected. I have started another round of Letrozole and added dexamethasone this time. I go to the Dr. for my monthly visit Friday.
1287560 tn?1272216521 If you are seing an OBGYN, most have not heard of using femara (letrozole) for fertility. It is a breast cancer drug. It has not been FDA approved to treat infertility issues. I was seeing a RE and he put me on it and also did IUI with it. I am now 12 weeks pg with Twins. It can and it does work! :) When I went back to my OB for my prenatal care, she asked me what was done to get me pg and she said she had never heard of it....so that may be why. Best of luck to you!!!!
1340383 tn?1309990914 I used letrozole and on the first round in combo with follistim it worked, I am now 9 weeks pregnant. (we didnt do IUI, we did it the old fashioned way, lol) My RE doesnt use clomid because it thins out the lining too much and has side effects. On the letrazole, I didnt have any side effects at all. I have never used clomid so I cant really compare the two but know a few people who have and they said it was hormone @#$%! Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn We have been ttc for 9 months, For the last five, we received ART assistance--2 IUI cycles with Letrozole and 3 cycles with just Lotrozole. We were preparing for our third IUI this week when the news came that my FSH levels were high--21 and my AMH low--.4. We were told that we could do just as well on our own as they could, and that we had a <5% chance of success even with IVF-- in essence sending us home with minimal hope. We were of course devastated.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar m tn We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
Avatar f tn The femara is FDA approved in the treatment of breast cancer and they are just using it for infertility because hey it works there too. My RE said that if femara and some of these other drugs had of been around from the same time clomid has been (I believe he said something like 40 years or so, I could be off on that figure though so don't hold me to it) then you might actually see one of these other drugs as the preferred one of choice for the front line.
