Letrozole for endometriosis

Common Questions and Answers about Letrozole for endometriosis

femara

Avatar n tn Last week, I had Laparoscopy surgery for my endometriosis (which resulted in stage 1). My doctor is prescribing Letrozole, everyday for 2 months, to clean up any endometriosis that may have been missed during surgery. After the 2 months, I would take 1 Letrozole for 5 days to promote ovulation. Any suggestions? Right path? Or is the only option I have is another IVF? Thank you...
1626928 tn?1378850167 If there are no results with letrozole then help with gonodatropins may be necessary. Treatment of endometriosis will depend on its severity. Consult an infertility expert. Do not get disheartened as treatment for infertility may take a few years to give results. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Ok, so, doc doubled my Letrozole this cycle and for first time had more than one follicle growing so had hope this time..a little history, I have PCOS and Agressive Endometriosis. 2 failed IUI's so far with letrozole and HCG inj. Before that, Clomid for 9 months with no success. So this time again, follicles on the left stopped growing at 14mm, and the one on the right was 24mm today but was a anuovulated.. Spelling may be wrong.
Avatar f tn post surgery she asked me to take gynaset 5mg for one year, letrozole USP 2.5 mg for one year. and she gave injection of lupride 3.75 mg once in three months for one year(4 dose). Now i wanted about these doses.. medicines.. what are side effects.. and is it advisable to take letrofil for one year ? i consult another doctor where she sugested not to take this letrofil its discontinued from manufacturing. she said luprid injection once in a month and take only for 3 months. Please help me..
Avatar f tn I have Stage 4 endo and it is so severe, my doc has told me I need a complete hysterectomy. I have lived with horrible daily pain for nearly 4 years now (since the birth of my daughter). It wasn't until a recent lap showed severe endo. The doc that did the lap was my SEVENTH physician for this and I had tried 8 different meds for pain management. Nothing worked.
519935 tn?1216151210 I took Letrozole and I went in for an ultra sound (in May, this month) on cycle day 12. Doctor found 4 big follicles and gave me ovidrel shot to time ovulation and intercourse. Would this be sufficient to assume I am indeed ovulating? I got my period this past weekend. This month/cycle, my husband suggested to try naturally without Letrozole and ovidrel as he thinks my body has endured lot of medications along with one surgery in the past year. It did help reading about your case.
Avatar f tn I have very light periods that last 2-3 days. And I have suspected endometriosis with a mass growing between my bladder and cervix. I have had this mass since two years and it is not growing. My periods and the days after my periods are extremelly painful, especially when my bladder is full or when I need to urinate. I have found a fertility specialist and he has prescribed the following drugs. On days 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 I need to take 1T/day of Letrozole (to stimulate folicle growth).

99627 tn?1301270952 Regardless, one of the treatments for LPD is clomid, or letrozole. In my experience, letrozole (femara) often results in later than expected ovulation - not a bad thing but a characteristic of the medication. Concerning the 4% morphology, a better test of your partner's sperm's ability to fertilize your eggs is your IVF history. Were there any problems with fertilization? Was ICSI used?
652899 tn?1284047173 I am due for my first iui in sep ..am on letrozole ( femara) days 5-9..
725941 tn?1297882209 Hello! i think there are several of us on here that have gotten preg with femara.. i took two cycles of femara without any luck (but we were told due to our issues including male factor we would need IVF.. so this wasn't a shock) but then the 3rd IUI did femara + injectables and it did work.. i have endometriosis and they really like femara for endo patients as well.. it doesn't thin the lining like clomid.. did your doctor do an ultrasound to check how many follies you had?
256553 tn?1258883918 I had been using clomid, but my lining is very thin so my RE switched me. It worked great for me. On clomid I had 2 follies. On letrozole I had 6! I didn't get a BFP but it was bc my progesterone was too low. I liked it much better than clomid-no side effects at all. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn We have been ttc for 9 months, For the last five, we received ART assistance--2 IUI cycles with Letrozole and 3 cycles with just Lotrozole. We were preparing for our third IUI this week when the news came that my FSH levels were high--21 and my AMH low--.4. We were told that we could do just as well on our own as they could, and that we had a <5% chance of success even with IVF-- in essence sending us home with minimal hope. We were of course devastated.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar m tn We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
1690503 tn?1325683109 Thank you so much for answering .... I have been trying since my marriage two years ago ( today being my second anniversary ).. consulted a doc from June 2010 to Jan 2011 .. In that i did lot of tests ... hormones tests etc .. all postive results... did 3 IUI .. took clomid .. nothing worked out .. So went to another Doc .. who told me about this retroverted ueterus , but told me that it wont affect conceiving ...and that it probably would get rectified after first delivery ...

6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
Avatar m tn I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects. I will appreciate if any parent with experience of using Anastrozole for their kids may share their experience.
Avatar m tn I don't understand your question .... if you mean the difference between Femara and Letrozole .... if you mean the difference between the two names there isn't any. Letrozole is the Generic Name for Femara. Regards ....
1773487 tn?1331540488 i did use Letrozole for 6 cycles...but no BFP...there were no side effects either....just got cramps during those entire cycles...i know 2 of my patients who used d same...one of them who had PCOD concieved with timed intercourse n letroz...d other who had endo like me didn't...however she got preggo by ICSI...Letroz is now banned in several countries but here in India its widely used....
Avatar m tn I am obliged for the time spared by you for answering my queries. Thanks..
1319297 tn?1274794630 I took 10 letrozole pills on May 2nd and then the HCG shot on the 12th and I have been really moody and emotional since. I've taken clomid before and expected it but they told me these would have no side effects. This is my first time doing the whole fertility process after having surgery for endometriosis. Am I just psyching myself out or has anyone else experienced bad mood swings after the shot or pills?
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn your question is very specific, but i would surf the web for that by writing letrozole and mood swings. Abt lithium only a doc can tell you i found you though a previous query on Medhelp http://www.medhelp.
