letrozole and ovidrel

My period started Thursday 7/23 and I took Letrozole days 3-7. I have now finished Letrozole and am still bleeding on day 8 and I have a baseline ultrasound on Monday 8/3 to check my follicles to see if I am good to take ovidrel. So my questing is, is it pointless to go to the appointment if I'm still bleeding. Is this cycle going to be pointless???

II had done an Ovidrel trigger shot for my Letrozole IUI sometime back and yes, I did have cramping and Bloating in the lower abdomen..although the pain was manageable without any meds. hope you feel better soon !

Hi Ladies! I have a question about Letrozole. I used Clomid for the past 3 months and ovulated, but had no luck getting pregnant. I had an HSG last month (November) and this month my new Dr. put me on Letrozole. I had an appointment and u/s yesterday (CD 14) and they said my follicles were not big enough and to get the Ovidrel shot and that I should "sit out" this month and call my Dr. on Monday to see what she thinks as far as where to go from here.

This month/cycle, my husband suggested to try naturally without Letrozole and ovidrel as he thinks my body has endured lot of medications along with one surgery in the past year. It did help reading about your case. I feel healed from inside post surgery but I don't think I am 100% ready to go for injectables just now. My doctor suggested to get OvuQuick testing kit and I got it from amazon.com. I will be using it this month.

I have an ultrasound scheduled Monday not sure what for. I was just wandering in this is a normal level. I took Letrozole and gave myself the ovidrel injection a week ago. Thanks for any help that you can provide. We have been trying for almost three years.

at the time of my last IUI ( Letrozole + Ovidrel ), I had 3 follies measuring 20 mm, 16 mm and 14mm..my RE mentioned that he likes to see atleast 1 follie around 16mm or greater around the time of IUI..so hopefully you should be good! good luck!!

I have three follicles on the right roughly 17, 13 and 12mm and one on the left 14mm. The clinic says we will probably do the iui in two to three days. Has anyone had a similar experience with these numbers. Just curious if others have been told what are good numbers and what to expect. I haven't been given a lot of answers with this. I have unexplained fertility and started on the works - letrozole pills and Gonal F injectable, then when follicles big enough Ovidrel shot, then IUI then Progesterone pills. This us our first cycle of trying anything and I'm 39. Hope this helps!

So I phoned the fertility clinic and they did E2 and LH. The same day they called me back and my E2 was very high so I had an ultrasound. I had many big cysts on my ovaries and the doctor told me that Clomid is not working for me. So I am suppose to have protected intercourse for the next 2 weeks and he'll call me back for setting another plan. I read so many success stories about Clomid and I feel very discouraged.

I took 100mg of clomid days 5-9 in April o this year and had ovidrel shot to induce ovulation and go pregnant but then lost the baby at 10 weeks. Just took clomid 100mg on days 5-9 and had an ovidrel shot on Thursday October 7th and I'm in my two week wait now. Can't test until next Thursday.

So the doctor asked if I would like to just try Letrozole for a little while (in addition to the Glucophage I was already on) and just try the old fashioned way. My husband and I were in agreement... no way, let's get our best chances so we opted to proceed with IUI. As usual I had to take Aygestin to induce a period and I had my AF 1st day Dec 5th. I had an u/s to make sure no cysts on Dec 7th and was started on Letrozole (lowest dose). I had another u/s for follicles on Dec 17th.

Sorry mistake, my ovidrel was taken on the 9th of May at 10 pm and did the insemination at 10:30 pm on the 11th.

I had a follow up with the RE today and she is gonna put me on 7.5 mg Letrozole from cd 3-7 with ovidrel and monitoring. my ins dont cover the monitoring so i didnt do it with the clomid cycle but this time around i want to so i have to pay $650 up front... alot of money but i really want to make sure they can see whether or not im gonna respond to the letrozole.

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.

I started letrazole on day 3 of my cycle until day day 7, I went in for my sono and I had a large follicle 29mm, and was told.to.go.jome do my trigger shot-ovidrel, and insimination on the next day!!! I thoight everything was in our favor,,, until this morning the day I was suppose to test and.low and behold AF!!!! So so sad.......

Hey!! This is my third round of letrozole. 1st with an iui, 2nd with natural trying, 3rd with iui on may 2nd. This is my last round of letrozole so I pray it worked. Good luck!!!!

well i recieved my negative beta today and they want me to do a cycle of letrozole or femara which is an oral pill simliar to clomid.. my question is has anyone ever tried this med before, any side effects and any success..

I just underwent hyperstimulation with ovidrel and am now 10 days past ovulation or 12 days past ovidrel and I have a postive pregnancy test. Do you know if this is still the ovidrel or a true positive? Thanks again!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.

I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.

Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.

I had 2 miscarriages, last one was about 1 year ago. I have been on clomid (D2-D6) and ovidrel shot whenever foliculle size is 18-20 mm. This has always been on 23rd each month as scan has showed it for the past 4 cycles. Last month I did not perform a scan. Instead, I took ovidrel shot on 22nd. I had sexual intercourse on the 21st and 24th last month. I wonder if I can expect to have good chances of getting pregant ?
