519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
255732 tn?1318517822 The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??
671083 tn?1239110841 I had an HSG last month (November) and this month my new Dr. put me on Letrozole. I had an appointment and u/s yesterday (CD 14) and they said my follicles were not big enough and to get the Ovidrel shot and that I should "sit out" this month and call my Dr. on Monday to see what she thinks as far as where to go from here. When I was on on Clomid, I didn't ovulate until CD 16 or 17. I don't want to "sit out" this month.
Avatar f tn Hi there.. Im 29 and on a failed cycle of femAra + injectables as started with some mid cycle spotting!! Cd18 today so just waiting for AF to arrive to start afresh..any buddies out there??
Avatar f tn I have unexplained fertility and started on the works - letrozole pills and Gonal F injectable, then when follicles big enough Ovidrel shot, then IUI then Progesterone pills. This us our first cycle of trying anything and I'm 39. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn I wonder if the 14mm one grew to 18mm and released before that ultrasound and the 15mm one that you saw was the one that had been the smaller of the two on the last sono? I'm surprised they let you go four days between sonos. Did your Dr. give you an indication of when they wanted to do the IUI or are you scheduled for another sono first? It definitely would suck if you missed the chance of the IUI even while being monitored. Have you tried clomid or just the letrozole?
1190279 tn?1324936257 I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and it worked first round. My baby is now 10 months.
1121300 tn?1426184776 Okay ive just finished 8 rounds of clomid at 100mg and still not preggy so i told my ob that i wanted to try iui but he told me that its not worth it to do iui by itself or with clomid and that I ned to do injectables??? Does this sound right? The cost of iui with inject would be $1300.00 and I don't have a drug plan at the moment (im looking into getting one) Has Anyone done iui with clomid only and been sucessful?
Avatar f tn i had 2 or 3 at 14mm and the rest were under 12mm. The doc to take 50 iu of the injectables and to come back on friday to see if any grew. what are the chances that they will grow? and if so is it too many follicles to do an iui? has this ever happened to anyone. I need answers! please help!
Avatar n tn Also if clomid does not work (you are on a big dose of clomid) you may need to try another medication for ovulation induction like letrozole or injectables.
Avatar n tn I have had the hcg shot for 3 cycles and still nothing. I am thinking that I have something else as well as having PCOS. I am not sure what else to do. I can't afford to have and IUI. I am 31 years old so I would like to get pregnant soon.
99627 tn?1301270952 My RE is puting me on injectables this cycle to do IUI. I will try it for maybe 2 cycles and will go for IVF. Thank you again.
725941 tn?1297882209 Hello! i think there are several of us on here that have gotten preg with femara.. i took two cycles of femara without any luck (but we were told due to our issues including male factor we would need IVF.. so this wasn't a shock) but then the 3rd IUI did femara + injectables and it did work.. i have endometriosis and they really like femara for endo patients as well.. it doesn't thin the lining like clomid.. did your doctor do an ultrasound to check how many follies you had?
414618 tn?1280358526 I did clomid for my first IUI and my follicles responded well to it (uterus lining did not) but the IUI failed and the clomid left me with a cyst so i had to wait out the next cycle. Dr recommended injectables next for me due to how lining did not thicken on clomid and the cyst. I did follistim and did not respond well to that at all. not everyone is compatible with all the FSH drugs out there.
1014822 tn?1338648073 I tested today 16dpo and got a BFP! I really can't believe it! I was heading to meet with my friend because she was donating her meds to me so I could start my IUI w/ injectables and while I was looking for a gift for her I thought I would buy some tests for next month. Well I went to Casey's and took one for the fun of and and to my surprise BFP!! I can't believe it!! We have been trying for years!!! Praying for all of you ladies this month!!!!
Avatar n tn after i upgraded from clomid, i went to follistim and then gonal which are injectables. but there is more scanning and bloodwork check ups on them. and they are $$$ if your ins does not cover them. good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.
256553 tn?1258883918 Hey!! This is my third round of letrozole. 1st with an iui, 2nd with natural trying, 3rd with iui on may 2nd. This is my last round of letrozole so I pray it worked. Good luck!!!!
Avatar f tn I got pregnant in 2 cycles of clomid and a trigger shot. However my doc was going to take me off of clomid and onto letrozole instead. The clomid was thinning out my uterine lining. Best of luck to you. Hope you get pregnant soon.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I have used both and after five attempts with clomid no success and the first try with letrozole I got pregnant with my son due to placenta ruption. I'm trying letrozole again with this cycle.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
342133 tn?1227108677 Like candie, I have just started Femara (also known as letrozole), and the side effects are very minimal and it is not thinning my uterine lining. I took Clomid 50mg for 2 cycles, and 100 mg for 1 cycle, and ovulated each time but with just one follicle. (Did one IUI on third cycle--BFN) My RE also started me on Follistim injectables, 75 IUI cd5-9. I have my first u/s tomorrow, so hopefully I will have more than one follie ready to go for my IUI.
1480128 tn?1287588393 Sadly clomid never worked for me. I was on 50, 100 and then 150mg which never produced a follicle. My RE then put me on letrozole (femara) and highly recommended IUI. Went in on day 10 of cycle for u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Started OPK testing and 2 days later had a +. Went in the following day and had IUI done. 10 days post IUI I got my BFP!!!! Just found out 2 weeks ago we are expecting twins! I am currently 11 weeks PG! Just know that if clomid does not work...
6889053 tn?1386025503 So, I took birth control for a month and a half to allow it to shrink. I then started Letrozole this cycle. I would go with what your doctor says. From my understanding, the Letrozole will help you to produce follicles, where Metformin helps to regulate insulin, which in turn helps you to ovulate. Taking the Letrozole may be good, because you need follicles.
Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
1773487 tn?1331540488 I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).
