letrozole and infertility

I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march.The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.

Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?

I've been diagnosed with unexplained infertility and have had several stimulated cycles (gonal-f plus HCG trigger), but to no avail. This cycle, multiple follicles (3) were measured a day before the HCG shot was administered to trigger ovulation. At that time, my u/s revealed the following follicle sizes: 11.7, 15.8 and 16mm. Back to back IUI was performed at 24 and 48 hours following the HCG.

Hi! I am 31y.o. and have unexplained infertility. Have had a laproscopy and cromotubation and tons of blood work and I am perfectly healthy and beyond perfect for conception. Except for the fact that I can't conceive. My husband is perfect also. We've tried clomid for 4mos. and letrozole plus iui last month and tested this morning and got a neg hpt. I'm starting to lose hope. Has anyone else been here??

Hi, Typically ovulation monitoring is carried out along with ovulation stimulating drugs like Letrozole. The monitoring can be done through external sonography but infertility specialists prefer vaginal sonography to find out the exact date when you ovulate and also the size of follicle(s).

I also started on clomid, and was an "unexplained infertility". We were trying for 3 years and no pregnancy. The first doctor I saw told me I was fine, and there was no reason I wasnt getting pregnant. After wasting a year with him, I saw a new doctor who just looked at my transferred chart and knew I had a low antra follicle count. Have you had this procedure done? Its only an ultra sound of your ovaries, and they count your follicles. Depending on your age, your count varies.

Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.

My AF started a few days earlier than expected. I have started another round of Letrozole and added dexamethasone this time. I go to the Dr. for my monthly visit Friday.

From a obgyn to a fertility specialist. I took letrozole and yes menopur shot too. So far my eggs and lining were looking good. We used timed intercourse. No luck yet. Going to try the same meds and iui next tho. Talk to ur doc abt switching from clomid.

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?

Hi! If you were my patient, I would try switching to Letrozole and possibly adding Metformin to your regimen. I would continue with up to five more IUIs. If it hasn't worked by then, I would refer you for IVF. Good luck!

We have been ttc for 9 months, For the last five, we received ART assistance--2 IUI cycles with Letrozole and 3 cycles with just Lotrozole. We were preparing for our third IUI this week when the news came that my FSH levels were high--21 and my AMH low--.4. We were told that we could do just as well on our own as they could, and that we had a <5% chance of success even with IVF-- in essence sending us home with minimal hope. We were of course devastated.

We too were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and did 2 rounds of Clomid/Trigger and IUI and conceived our daughter on the 2nd IUI. We are currently trying for #2 and just completed our third IUI. We are in the mystery category which is very frustrating. Our RE said if we're not pregnant this month then he recs IVF which is a huge step. I started doing acpuncture and I really think that helped me conceive my daughter. I have unexplained fertility and started on the works - letrozole pills and Gonal F injectable, then when follicles big enough Ovidrel shot, then IUI then Progesterone pills. This us our first cycle of trying anything and I'm 39. Hope this helps!

Hi Sherry, I only did the trigger injection with clomid and it worked. Mine was right about $1200 as well since my insurance doesn't cover infertility. Hope you have good luck with this, it will be worth it!

Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.

I lucked out and had to only pay 2 months of my secondary ins and then cancelled it after BFP and RE discharged me to my OB.
