256553 tn?1258883918 Hey!! This is my third round of letrozole. 1st with an iui, 2nd with natural trying, 3rd with iui on may 2nd. This is my last round of letrozole so I pray it worked. Good luck!!!!
Avatar f tn Really scared since I had hyperstimulation with clomid. Tried Letrozole for three cycles with iui....no luck. I am on 100 follistim and scared about the side effects and hyperstimulation. Tips and encouragement please!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn While we are excited, I am terrified that we may have high order multiples. We used Follistim and letrozole. I had an IUI on cycle day 12. On day 9 I had 3 dominant follicles measuring 18 and one smaller one at 12. I did not have another ultrasound after this. I took one more dose of Follistim per my dr. orders and then took my trigger shot on day 10. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I took femara(generic letrazole) along with follistim and it worked first try, I am now 9w2d pregnant. I didnt have any side effects. And we did novarel to trigger ovulation so we were right on time. Hope it works for you too. Good luck.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I used letrozole and on the first round in combo with follistim it worked, I am now 9 weeks pregnant. (we didnt do IUI, we did it the old fashioned way, lol) My RE doesnt use clomid because it thins out the lining too much and has side effects. On the letrazole, I didnt have any side effects at all. I have never used clomid so I cant really compare the two but know a few people who have and they said it was hormone @#$%! Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
671083 tn?1239110841 I had an HSG last month (November) and this month my new Dr. put me on Letrozole. I had an appointment and u/s yesterday (CD 14) and they said my follicles were not big enough and to get the Ovidrel shot and that I should "sit out" this month and call my Dr. on Monday to see what she thinks as far as where to go from here. When I was on on Clomid, I didn't ovulate until CD 16 or 17. I don't want to "sit out" this month.
1190279 tn?1324936257 I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I lucked out and had to only pay 2 months of my secondary ins and then cancelled it after BFP and RE discharged me to my OB.
Avatar f tn I have done Clomid 3 times, I have taken letrozol, w/ progesterone suppositories and IUI. Next Follistim, w/ progesterone suppositories and IUI. Failed AGAIN. how many times do you try before facing I can't get pg with my egg? This is killing me inside. It's so hard when everyone around you can get pg and I can't.
519935 tn?1216151210 I am 30 years old and me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 1 year now. Started with 50 mg clomid and went up to 150 mg. changed 2 doctors in the course. Had 1 IUI with Clomid done in Feb'08. Changed to 3rd doctor after that..and he switched me to Letrozole in Mar and did an IUI with it. He also put me on Metformin and Synthroid and said I have mild PCOS. Got laparoscopy done in Apr and found level 2 endometriosis.
Avatar n tn after i upgraded from clomid, i went to follistim and then gonal which are injectables. but there is more scanning and bloodwork check ups on them. and they are $$$ if your ins does not cover them. good luck.
Avatar f tn hey im new, hoping to start follistim with iui if get af comes at end of month and others soon going to be trying
Avatar n tn Femara(letrazole) is a great choice for a lot of people! we have had a lot of BFP's on here with it! : ) it has fewer side effects than clomid for most people - no thining of your uterine lining like clomid, and it doesnt' dry up cervical mucus like clomid either.. i've personally never taken clomid, but they say that people have fewer hot flashes while on femara too.... we took femara 2.
725941 tn?1297882209 t have any problems ovulating on my own, but my RE wanted me to try it anyway. I did four cycles, and had two follicles three of the months and one follicle one month. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn its an injectable follicle stimulator (fsh) to make more follicles than the oral medications typically do!
652899 tn?1284047173 hi im new to this forum to. i shoudl be getting af middle of next week and hopefully starting follistim and IUI.
Avatar f tn I have unexplained fertility and started on the works - letrozole pills and Gonal F injectable, then when follicles big enough Ovidrel shot, then IUI then Progesterone pills. This us our first cycle of trying anything and I'm 39. Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn My dr did lupron 5 days after ovulation, then day one of my period started 150 menopur and 200 Follistim (and then went up to 250 on Follistim like 5 days or so into stimming). I'm 40 w/ a high FSH (11.7). I got 9 eggs, 5 embryos, 3 transferred (but none had made it to blast by day 5) so it's not looking hopeful. To think I thought I'd have some to freeze : ( On day 3 I had 5 embies, two were grade A so I can't figure out why he didn't just transfer them all on day 3.
Avatar f tn I hear ya about the being drained!! sometimes i just want to feel like a "normal" person and live my life and not have to worry constantly about ttc, where i am in my cycle am i preg etc etc etc!!! it defintely gets old, BUT is hopefully all worth it in the end! MANY people get preg on femara, everyones bodies respond differently.. you can come join us on the femara group, there are a bunch of us on there..
Avatar f tn I am on my first cycle of gonal-f and letrozole with tic, i hope and pray that this works for me because we have done 4 cycles of clomid with no success.
Avatar f tn Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.
393893 tn?1283551230 Does anyone know the difference between Lupron and Follistim? I've been taking Follistim and Menopur and started Ganirelex last night. My re told me today that they might switch me to Lupron, any of you know why maybe? I have plenty of follies.
342133 tn?1227108677 Like candie, I have just started Femara (also known as letrozole), and the side effects are very minimal and it is not thinning my uterine lining. I took Clomid 50mg for 2 cycles, and 100 mg for 1 cycle, and ovulated each time but with just one follicle. (Did one IUI on third cycle--BFN) My RE also started me on Follistim injectables, 75 IUI cd5-9. I have my first u/s tomorrow, so hopefully I will have more than one follie ready to go for my IUI.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question and we apologize for delay in response! We are glad you are on to maintenance therapy for your previous cancer! Typically, letrozole does have a favorable side effect profile in relation to toxicity. This doesn't mean it is side effect free, however. The trade off is that it does appear affective in terms of prolonging recurrence.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
Avatar f tn After 4 failed cycles of just clomid and provera my doctor started me on Follistim, Gannirelix and Odivrel. I took the follistim for 50iu for a week (9/11-9/18) - then my doctor uped the dose to 75iu. I am going to do IUI for the first time this cycle. I have PCOS and dont ovulate on my own. Does anyone else have a similar story? any success ???
Avatar f tn I saw a specialist about a few weeks ago and we decided to do follistim and IUI. Any ladies out there with stories on this procedure? Any suggestions......success? Thanks so much! Oh and my hubbies swimmers are great!
6889053 tn?1386025503 So, I took birth control for a month and a half to allow it to shrink. I then started Letrozole this cycle. I would go with what your doctor says. From my understanding, the Letrozole will help you to produce follicles, where Metformin helps to regulate insulin, which in turn helps you to ovulate. Taking the Letrozole may be good, because you need follicles.
