Avatar f tn I found this on Wiki and it does say it is and opiod and also says this - Tramadol is associated with the development of physical dependence and a severe withdrawal syndrome.[59] Tramadol causes typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake.
1201433 tn?1328997637 It is recommended that patients physically dependent on pain killers take their medication regularly to prevent onset of withdrawal symptoms and this is particularly relevant to tramadol because of its SSRI and SNRI properties, and, when the time comes to discontinue their tramadol, to do so gradually over a period of time that will vary according to the individual patient and dose and length of time on the drug.
Avatar f tn How long do the withdrawal symptoms last I have been taking TraMADol hcl for over a year for a back injury. I am trying to go cold turkey.
Avatar n tn Oh lord my doc just gave me an rx for Tramadol today. SHould I not even start to take it?
Avatar m tn Hi I had a question about the length of time I should be expecting to be withdrawing from suboxone. A little history: I was on suboxone 16mg/day for about 6 mos, then I dropped down to about 8mg/day for about 2 weeks, then I dropped down to 4mg/day for about a week then stopped cold turkey 2 days ago. Can I possibly estimate how bad the worst of the withdrawals will last?
1804519 tn?1316080150 Awhile ago I took a similar dose of tramadol for the same length of time. I was completely fine. I'm detoxing from 40-60mg oxy right now I'm on my 4th day and this is 100000x worse than anything I ever felt from the tramadol.
Avatar f tn Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than that of other opioids; seven days or more of acute withdrawal symptoms can occur as opposed to typically three or four days for other codeine analogues. It is recommended that patients who would like to discontinue their tramadol, to do so gradually over a period of time that will vary according to the individual patient and dose and length of time on the drug. Talk to your doctor! They can help you do it properly.
Avatar m tn If you look at the numbers of people who post about their problems with withdrawal, the complexity and length of withdrawal symptoms and the pharmacology of the drug itself it is clear that this is a more pernicious drug than plain old opiates but the opiate aspect certainly plays a part.. It seems to me that opiate aspect is at the fore for the withdrawals for the first 3-5 days. Since these are quite uniform--a lot like having a a very bad case of stomach flu.
Avatar f tn I could not believe that taking this for such a short period of time could be a problem. When withdrawing from Tramadol which day is worse. I am trying to figure out how bad I can get while using this for a short period of time. Some say it is not a big deal compared to Oxy Contin. Somebody else wrote that is was worse than Heroin. I am pretty sure length of time using and amount are key here so please if somebody can give me a realistic overview I would appreciate it!
9704730 tn?1405741284 I saw my doctor yesterday about stopping the neurontin she put me on to help with the wds but she said to continue taking it. She said I am still experiencing tramadol wd because of the length of time I was on it. I don't understand. I have never heard of a wd lasting more than 30 days. Does anyone else have experience with this?
Avatar f tn I was checked by a nurse practitioner who says my heart and lungs are perfect, etc. Are these rather bizarre developments basically withdrawal from Tramadol? I do take Calmes Forte to help me sleep at night and have had no problems with sleep. From my reading I do understand that weaning off of this drug can be quite an ordeal but I would like to rule out other issues. Thanks for any suggestions or experience with this drug.
Avatar n tn Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. A tramadol overdose can be fatal. Overdose symptoms of a tramadol overdose may include drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma. Tramadol may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for.
Avatar m tn WELL, I WAS ADDICTED TO HYDROCODONE AFTER I HAD MY FIRST CHILD. I JUST THOUGHT THAT HURT. THEN STILL HAVING SOME PAIN I WAS GIVEN ULTRAM. I WISH TO GOD I HAD NEVER TAKEN IT. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. AND I AM READY TO BE NORMAL AGAIN. I WANT TO BE HAPPY BECAUSE I'M ACTUALLY HAPPY. SO HERE WE ARE DAY 2. MY LEGS ARE ACHING, MY MIND IS DIZZY. I KNOW THAT TONIGHT WHEN I LAY DOWN TO GO TO SLEEP I WONT SLEEP. I WILL FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO KEEP MOVING MY LEGS.
Avatar n tn Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms. I would expect them to continue for one to two weeks at the most.
Avatar n tn Now, after the 4th week, and a lot of improvement, I am having diarrhea and headache and flu like symptoms. Could these symptoms be related to withdrawal at this later date? How long does withdrawal take? When should I expect to feel total relief?
Avatar f tn My doctor replaced 1/2 of my daily Tramadol dose with Vicodin and I continued that for a year. I did get very uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol when that switch was made. However... My doctor a year later completely took me off the Tramadol and replaced it with Morphine ER with Percocet for break through pain and I had no withdrawal symptoms from stopping the Tramadol at all!!!
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Getting here and looking for answers is the first step. The withdrawal is uncomfortable at the least, but it's a 14 day span at the most for the physical symptoms. How much and how long and what drug have you been using. There is always someone here who can offer more specific advice.
Avatar f tn Tramadol is known to result in withdrawal effects when it is immediately stopped. The symptoms might include: Anxiety, sweating, insomnia, chills, pain, nausea, tremors, diarrhea, upper respiratory symptoms, hallucinations (rarely). The manufacturer states that tapering off of the medication may reduce the chance of these withdrawal effects, however, no specific tapering schedule is mentioned.
Avatar n tn all narcotics when taken for any duration have withdrawl symptoms. it depends on the strength, the amounts taken, and the length of time you were on them. i have degenerative disk disease, degenerative arthritis, and have run the gamut of narcotics for many years. i was sooo glad to find tramadol- not a narcotic, long lasting and very effective on chronic pain. be careful!!!!!! the withdrawls are worse than any narcotic!
