Avatar f tn Many gyms have a wide selection of group classes that include yoga, aerobics, step aerobics and dance-style workouts such as Zumba. Joining a class for beginners can help if you feel unsure of how to proceed with your workout. Remember, you're likely not the only gym newbie in the class. As you exercise in a class, you might feel more confident and even find a future workout partner. Check the area of the gym that features a number of cardio machines.
Avatar m tn Many gyms offer rowing machines, upper body ergometers, swimming pools, and boxing rooms. These can all be used by those with limited leg function. A rowing machine provides aerobic workouts to the biceps, triceps, pectoralis muscles, and the upper back muscles. An upper body ergometer (arm bike) looks like an upside-down bike that is pedaled with your hands. In the pool, shallow water arm movements with leg stabilization can be done to stress the arms, chest and upper back.
Avatar f tn Hello, brisk walking of any kind for extended period of time will burn the calories. If she can walk for a minimum of 30 minutes after each meal (or at least morning and night for as long as she can manage) this would be helpful. Maybe the resistance or the gradient on the treadmill is set too high and this is why she is finding it so hard to use. please check the treadmill. Maybe there is something wrong with the setup, or even with the treadmill.

Avatar f tn Warm up on an eliptical machine for 5 min, then 20 reps of leg press, 2 min back on the machine, then 20 reps for whatev, back on the machine for 2min etc; We do something for quads, lats, biceps, triceps, flys, bench press, shoulders, pretty much every muscle group. We end with abs. The trainer I used wed (its a husband /wife team that trade off depending on the time of day) gave me my favorite tip so far...
Avatar n tn Then I start my weight training program. From squats free weight smith machine n other leg machines. Military presses, barbell well I do full body work outs. I did drop 10 lbs on my weight when I turned 27 weeks but just incase. But I feel great afterwards. I believe that is the main reason I really don't have major pains. I can still sleep very comfortable minimal back aches no swelling, n I have not gained any weight around my face or any body part just my belly.
897494 tn?1267476064 rest, then I move on to more weights, and leg press, then to the treadmill for another 20 min interval cardio workout, using the same time routine as the eliptical workout. Is this going to get me where I want to be, I need to loose 20 lbs, and I am 28 yrs old, I have the nutrition part of it down for the most part. I just need to know in what order and what type of cardio I shoud be doing?
Avatar m tn Yesterday I tried doing a fairly low cardio workout, I was just doing leg presses, hamstrings, calfs, etc. All with a couple minute break inbetween and no cardio at all. On my second set of machine squats (about 5 mins into workout), I felt dizzy, my heart felt like it was gonna rip out of my chest and I had tunnel vision. I sat down and checked my pulse, it was around 185. I then went to the BP machine after I felt better and my vitals were 90/70 and HR at 130.
Avatar f tn How does everyone workout everyday to stay fit? I am a FTM and I want to stay fit and not lay around the house everyday gaining weight. So can y'all help me ? Please .
Avatar f tn Benefits of the elliptical trainer are movement of both the arms and legs, its low impact to the joints, and ease in adjusting the intensity settings. This machine provides an all body workout and is good as an active warm-up, particularly when your weight workout will consist of upper body movements. The stepmill in your gym. This machine uses an escalator-style platform to mimic the movement of climbing stairs. This workout can be fairly low impact, depending on the speed.

I do remember now that i felt some weird movement down there without any pain though that's why i proceeded with the workout.
Avatar f tn I am trying to decide on a home exercise machine. I would like either and elliptical or a water rowing machine. I have researched both and tested out ellipticals. Rowing machines are a little harder to find. I know an elliptical will be good for cardio but will it also help build muscle?
Avatar f tn A leg press targets your thighs and rear, while leg curls on a leg curl machine will help you get firm thighs and a strong back. To combine cardio with strength training, try a rowing machine, which has the added benefit of working your arms and upper body. Combining different types of exercise can help you get a stronger workout. Try interval training when you're doing your cardio. Simply alternate between a minute or two of intense exercise followed by a minute or two of moderate work.
Avatar f tn So I've done tons of research about stomach fat and the best way to burn it is by a balanced diet and by drinking a lot of water and engaging in both cardio and strength training, but is there anything else? i workout usually everyday, at the least 5 times a week, very rarely 4. I eat quite heathy, taking in a lot of fruits and vegetables and trying to watch my serving sizes and portions.
435139 tn?1255460391 I think as long as you don't pull a muscle you're fine. I need to start exercising too :( Do you have access to an eliptical machine or a treadmill? I think that once I'm past my 12 weeks I will start going to the gym again. Also maybe step workout? Or strength training on your legs, so you don't do much cardio just leg presses and squats with weights, etc. My legs have become two big blobs too and I've always been pretty skinny, Its kinda embarrasing.
Avatar n tn I am just a recreational weight lifter who likes to visit the gym 3 times a week for an all round body workout and I am hoping that I can continue this without issues. Your advise if much appreciated as cant find anything that specifically addresses my questions on the net!!!
Avatar f tn Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. With few of the TB medications, Vitamin B Complex (esp B12) is prescribed to avoid a potential side effect of medicines like neuropathy. Therefore, I would recommend consult your doctor first to evaluate this possibility or any other nerve injury cause.
Avatar f tn I started working out 3 weeks ago - I have a personal trainer - just this past week i got a intense headache after doing some weights. It happened again yesterday. Doing leg lifts, a intense headache right away.
Avatar f tn I have changed my whole diet, the way I eat has dramatically changed, I have filtered out all junk for fruits and vegetables. I just want to be able to workout and get back in shape without making these issues worse, but just sitting around waiting is not an option either and all it is doing is making me unhealthy, unhappy and putting me at risk for more health problems.
Avatar f tn Now I am wondering if I should do my evening workout eg. Cardio-12mins, exercise using elliptical machine-20mins or butt workouts-5mins-8mins. I admit I feel so lazy and just tired after work and I always ended in the kitchen for dinner around 5.45-6pm. And I will go to bed by 10pm as I have to wake up at 4.30-5am. I wish to hear anyone's advise regarding my workout routine! Thanks!
Avatar m tn t feel like pushing at all, but I had to because I was in gym class to reach a certain point. So then my heart rate shot up to about 180 in less than a minute (i was on a workout machine... ellipticals to be precise... which is how i knew my heartrate), I thought that it was a symptom of anxiety (racing heartbeat) and didn't think much of it later on when i was treated.
Avatar n tn Although I go to the gym and workout, I'm sure I'm not doing it on the same level you are. My workout gets my blood circulation and keeps me toned up but that's about it. When my PSVT kicks in, I just stop my workout until my rate goes back to normal. Since I've had ablations done, the return to NSR is usually less than a minute or two. In your case, you may want to stop the workout, lie down so the blood can circulate more easily back to your head.
Avatar m tn Step machines use primarily the lower body in an aerobic capacity. Finding a high quality step machine can be expensive, Steppers give a good workout aerobically, strengthen and build the lower body muscles, and are low impact. Cross country ski machines can provide a full body workout for cardiovascular and muscle endurance, however, they can be difficult to master. Before buying a ski machine, you should definitely try it out.
Avatar f tn Yup, it's completely fine to jog. My doctor told me to stay as active as possible because in her words "you wouldn't run a marathon without working out first, right?" That's what she compares labor to the extent of running a marathon. Just make sure to stay hydrated.
332074 tn?1229560525 My question is, I have severe allergies, so my head and sinuses are always plugged, also when I had my hysterectomy this past July, they told me that my airway was blocked so they had to use some machine to incabate (sp) me. Can either of these problems contribute to my 02 stats being low?
Avatar f tn I had the sharp pains in my 2nd trimester without exercising much. Its the ligaments stretching and i think my little bub was kicking a nerve. I didnt have pressure. Email or call your doc just in case.
Avatar f tn In the gym I participated in aerobic class. Circuit training. ( minimum time at each machine w maximum weight and used the rowing machine. I used to go every night. I'm 53 yrs old and have my weight under control and good measurements. It's a lifestyle not just temporary. So enjoy your work outs and your new eating habits.
