Common Questions and Answers about Leg operation to become taller

operation

Avatar f tn I knew a chap when I was a kid who had to have this surgery performed on one leg due to an illness that caused leg-length discrepancy. It worked well and his legs are almost the same length now, but he was in agony for a good couple of years, and he can't do any real exercise now - and of course, his stretched leg is very skinny and a mass of scar tissue. As you might guess, I know all this because I've considered the surgery myself.

Avatar f tn The screw should be taken away in an operation. I think that when time is going on, PHPT will become worse and the shoulder operation will become more difficult to do. I had not time to discuss this with the doctor, as I could not ask many other questions either ( I had 2x30 minutes time). Just now I don’t have pain in the shoulder and therefore don’t like to go to the operation. But sometimes I have pain and weakness in the shoulder and neck spine.
Avatar n tn Hunny, don't worry about how tall you are. If you're meant to grow some more, you will. If not, then you'll learn how to adjust to it. Any pills you take are going to have risks. If you still feel self consious about it, look at all the famous actresses who are short. Sarah Jessica Parker, Eve Longoria, they're both probably shorter than you! And it doesn't stop them! I think I grew a few more inches around your age though, so don't stress too much.

Avatar f tn Well, since you did not recover the way the docs originally expected you to, it is incumbent upon them to X-ray or scan where they did the operation, to make sure things are still in place. Could be you have a pinched nerve, or something is wrong with the operation they did. Also, you need better medication. A good one for lower back pain that I use is Lyrica, but it can make you dizzy and off-balance, and the dose has to be increased about three-fold in the first few months.
Avatar m tn Not sure what operation you're referring to. L5 is a bit higher than your tailbone, but nerves that exit at this level to innervate the legs, back, and buttocks. Leg pain can result from circulatory problems, kidney disease, and a variety of other conditions, including under use. What is the reason for your leg pain? Are we talking about a radiculopathy?

373367 tn?1246402035 I had to stop wearing taller shoes, because my feet just hurt too much. The feeling of being twisted and contorted I think is due to spasticity - the weakness in your ankle is probably that clonus thang... Unusual stiffness and pain, especially cramps, are what I think of as spasticity. If you wake up with a sore muscle and it doesn't go away, that's spasticity. A lot of times it comes with muscle weakness.
