Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
329165 tn?1515471990 I am going for Surgery in the next few weeks - Nissen Fundoplication and my Surgeon mentioned that I should get Prophalaxis Antibiotics before and after the operation, but then I told him as far as I know it is not necessary as my valve is fixed? Now I am a bit unsure... should I still take prophalaxis before surgeries, dental work, etc.? what is the latest info on that?
1558393 tn?1299070031 The Chiari Center of Wisconsin called yesterday and my operation is set for May 2nd. If any of you have had your surgery by Dr. Heffez can you please let me know what to expect.... Also is it safe to fly home and what is the average time you are off work. Thanks to everybody!
418466 tn?1207114132 Do NOT attempt to remove this drain by yourself. I can understand another vet wanting the surgical report, but it shouldn't stop them from treating your dog. That doesn't sound right to me at all. If you're having problems finding a competent vet, you could try starting with your local SPCA or Humane Society. Explain the situation to them and I'm sure they'll come up with a vet who will happily get this thing safely out of your dog's ear.
Avatar m tn may mas latest news, an operation from saint lukes, inoperahan yung doctor, may hep b siya nakuha nya sa patient nya, nag pa liver transplant siya, successful ung operation, pero ang gastos 4 Million... ang mahal...
12080135 tn?1453627571 Not really a question, more some good news to share on my latest brain/cervical spine MRI. Compared to the two MRIs in Feb, no new lesions have developed :-) Shows a stable appearance, no gadolinium enhancement (guess that means none active) and in fact some lesions appear less prominent (they had grown, 2 new ones, 7 active last time). Vit D must be helping as won't start Tecfidera until 7th Sept. Whatever it is, I'm feeling in a happy place today.
1558393 tn?1299070031 I will be having a Laminaplasty Operation by Dr. Heffez in Nov. Has anyone had this done? If so can you tell me what to expect...Staples, time in hospital, pain amount, time in surgery....ect... thanks for any info you can give.
928663 tn?1244304717 My question is that I have had 3 Back surgeries since August last but, it seems that after each surgery the pain hs gotten worse in my left hip area. So my pain management doc. did another ct/myelogram and when I asked about the report I was told that they couldn't give my the results until I made an appt.
Avatar m tn Thks for the response. I am going to my 6 month appt next week. This is the first time I have ever been in any kind of internet community. I guess my real question or reason for checking in here is to here from people who have had a similar operation and find out how they are doing.
404232 tn?1253965956 Hey ladies, I already posted this info to JenandJon but wanted to let you know that i just spoke with my doctor and the blood draw I had saturday showed my numbers still rising and they scheduled me for an ultrasound this friday. Does anyone know if we should expect to see the heartbeat this early - I know there won't be much to see but was just wondering. I am currently six weeks one day I think??
Avatar m tn Latest news is that the night before the operation, doctors diagnosed significant problem on the aortic valve of the heart and after an echo check next morning, they decided to go on immediately with the CABG, changing the valve itself and making 2 bypasses (one from chest and one from right foot). The whole operation took around 9 hours, but the feart began working again without any help.
177275 tn?1511755244 Although the idea of a clinic-based YAG laser operation is alluring for its perceived simplicity, we have the following concerns. 1. The energy delivered into the eye is not acceptable. The energy delivered to the eye in YAG vitreolysis compared with standard YAG capsulotomy is much greater. Van der Windt and colleagues state the typical required power is 2.5 mJ to 4.5 mJ, and they do not recommend exceeding 500 pulses per treatment session.
Avatar m tn Every surgical operation has its risks depending on your age or if you have other comorbid conditions (hypertension, diabetes, stroke, etc). Complications include difficulty of breathing, heart problems, kidney problems during or after the operation, though these can be minimized with proper pre-operation evaluation (usually by an internist, or cardiologist).
Avatar f tn they advice for a surgical procedure to relief the pain......how sure iam that surgery would be the best management and what are the precutionary measures,disavtantages..since have hypertention and osteoporosis grade 1..how surgical treatment really be benificial..and how assure iam that it would be successfull...need help bec..there are some cases i knew...sometimes surgical procedure can aggreviate the contidions and there are some...die....
1060769 tn?1254977492 Postponing the operation as long as reasonably possible is a good thing. You avoid unnecessary surgical risks by doing that. A few people actually die during heart surgery. It's not like having your tonsils out. It's a lot more major than that. It's not something to jump into, just to "get it over with." Also, if you can postpone your operation, you may be able to take advantage of advanced surgical technology later on.
Avatar f tn I will probably eventually add some of this information to the Health Pages, but I haven't reviewed any of it yet. But I do want to share this information with all of you, so you can check it out. These are online videos from a conference held last fall in Salt Lake City, Utah.
2177836 tn?1355173877 Any of you ladies know the latest update on grace and her baby?? She went into labor at 19 weeks and her husband had came down from Afghanistan to be with her?? I haven't seen any of her posts lately. Last I saw there were a couple girls posting saying her post was a fake. I really hope she's okay and would love to know if any of you ladies know if she's okay.
Avatar n tn If the percentage is less than 29%, a surgical operation is at a high risk and a surgeon may not recommend an operation as the risk may exceed the benefit. Or the estimated dimensions of the heart may be insignificant, and your mom is relatively good health and the risk is minimal.

Avatar f tn Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove the large cyst and if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Craniotomy, needle aspiration and cerebral shunts are common surgical treatment that may help. But, surgical modalities may have some complications depending upon size of cyst. Before opting for surgical procedures, you should evaluate both the pros and cons with the help of a neurosurgeon. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Bow legs or genu varum can be corrected in adults by surgical remodeling. The exact type of surgical technique would depend on the severity and the exact location of the defect. Temporarily orthotic devices may be used to provide symptomatic relief, though a permanent cure may require a surgery in adults. It would be best to consult an orthopedician for a detailed review and appropriate management.
