Laser vein closure

Common Questions and Answers about Laser vein closure

Avatar n tn Dear Sirs: My wife was diagnosed with Diabetic Retenopthy and had three laser surgeries last year to prevent blindness. The surgeries were successful for the bleeding and vein conditions behind her eyes, however she has uncontrolable eye closure which she says is due to her eye sensitivity to light that causes blinking and complete eye closure. I understand that she may have to apply eye drops to her eyes for the rest of her life, but am more worried about her constant eye closure.
Avatar n tn Dear ed34 Thanks so much for your quick answer. No, angioplasty has not been mentioned. Are there different methods of angioplasty? I am not even sure it would be possible afterall, it also depends on the native arteries' condition. Can I suppose the cardiologist would had mentioned it, if it was possible? His native veins are blocked to some extent, we were told, however, the blood pressure is higher than in the graft.

Avatar n tn I thought my vocabulary was pretty up to date but that article you posted proved me wrong. So let me try to understand this, the gentelmen they did this report on and used the "laser" on was recorded to have recovered from his symptoms? or was he just tested on?
Avatar n tn well, the mri/mra would have shown a developing aneurysm, or avm. an arterial vein malformation gives off symptoms like a cva. so does an aneurysm, in any case the mri scan would have definitely picked it up. an aneurysm is a balooning of an artery in many levels, there can be a dissecting, that is whenit forms a pseudolumen, which fills with blood.
Avatar n tn The oxygen resulted in Retinopathy of prematurity, which was treated with laser surgery to both eyes. He was in hospital for 97 days. My son is now 6 YEARS OLD, & very healthy. He wears glasses only for distance and has never required any other surgeries. He is very intelligent showing no side effects from the brain bleeds. His only-on going treatments are physio and occupational therapy for low muscle tone which may/may not be linked to prematurity.
