Laser surgery scar tissue

Common Questions and Answers about Laser surgery scar tissue

Avatar n tn Hi doctor, 5 years ago, I had facelift, necklift, eyebrow lift, midface lift, and lower lids, and chin implant done. I have scar tissue all over my face. Even at the side of my nose where he says he didn't touch. AS for the chin, he put a jaw which I asked him to remove it just after a month after the operation. I had ultrasound for almost a year and half, with minimum results.
Avatar n tn Dh was just diagnosed with an adhesion of part the capsule that used to hold the lens (has IOL with a scleral ring and donor cornea now) to the outer edge of the pupil, 9 months after his ruptured globe. (His eye has lots of scar tissue from the injury - the iris exited the glaucoma surgery incision after the injury). This adhesion was found when an ultrasound was done because part of the iris was pushing up against the cornea.
Avatar m tn The scar tissue could be injected with a hypotonic solution of saline during epidural and facet injections. This would soften the tissue and then it could be laparoscopically laser obliterate the tissue. You can search for some really advanced and established spine institutes in your region over the internet and by word of mouth. Even your neurosurgeon should be able to recommend you some better place where you have better hope.
Avatar m tn How normal is scar tissue after cataract surgery? why can't he take the scar tissue out now instead of waiting 5 months?
Avatar n tn Often the scar tissue cannot be removed. Of the scar is the damaged retina so that if the scar was removed there would be no sight forming tissue. Get a second opinion from another retina surgeon. Find one near you at www.aao.
Avatar m tn I had cataract surgery 4 months ago, just found out I have some scar tissue in left eye. Both eyes were done. I am wondering what are procedures for clearing up this scar tissue?
Avatar f tn My husband's surgeon has changed his mind about using laser to remove extra muscle at the head of his bladder to relieve urine retention, pain and sexual dysfunction because, after normal cystoscopy, he decided that scar tissue would prevent this. As a top-of-the-range MRI scan has previously said there is no problem, although we have asked twice for confirmation of this, what are we to believe ? Certainly we are desperate to avoid ordinary surgery and the inevitable problems and scaring.
Avatar f tn My husband is hoping to have his surgery there this month for stenosis, degenerative disks, and scar tissue problems from a laminectomy in 2000.
Avatar f tn I went to the eye doctor and the vision on my sides is horrible due to the scar tissue left from the laser surgery. Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the scar tissue? Thanks for helping.

Avatar n tn after a month the retina was cracked ' With more surgery to fix that with laser. Now I am blind in the one eye because of scar tissue in the center of the retina I can see my hand in front of my eye but not clearly because a new lense has not been inserted. The surgeon has advised me that nothing more can be done and I will have to live with one eye. I also have low pressure in thar eye as well as glaucoma in the good eye.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of ways to get rid of the tissue or any natural therapies that will at least make it possible to have sex without extreme pain? Anyone have experience in scar tissue removal surgery? This issue makes me very sad and concerned I will never have an enjoyable sex life. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Avatar f tn The removal of the tube could have formed some scar tissue after. Scar tissue causes pain yes but it is different then Endometriosis. Endometriosis is lesions and can cause Dense adhesions to form as well. Who did your surgery a regular Gyno? Do you know if they looked in the cul de sac? usually that is where it is missed. What symptoms were you having?
1556305 tn?1517784829 I know laser can be used to clear the artery but as far as I'm aware scar tissue can still form. One way of helping stop scar tissue is the application of radiation. A radioactive substance on the end of the catheter wire is held in the area for a period of time, damaging the dna of the cells so they can't reproduce so quickly.
Avatar m tn In order to correct it I've had a series of surgeries (buckle, gas bubble, silicone oil, laser, etc.). I developed a cataract and some scar tissue due to the multiple surgeries. The scar tissue that was on the retina has some how detached and is now floating around in my eye. My surgeon has suggested that we remove the cataract and suction out the scar tissue at the same time. Will this cause the retina to detach again? WIll the scar tissue floating around cause an issue?
Avatar m tn You could seek out the expertise of a very skilled retinal surgeon, who should be able to remove the scar tissue. However, the surgery may pose more risks than gains. Depending on the extent of the scar tissue having surgery may either cause another RD or you could suffer nerve damage. At this point if the retina is attached from an anatomical standpoint your case is considered a success.
Avatar n tn said younger patients usually have isssues with scar tissue. Is there a way to slow the scar tissue `- maybe with drugs?
624225 tn?1221766417 This happened 2 years ago. Dr. Brad Smith did my surgery in St. Louis at Barnes Jewish Hospital. Can the scar tissue be removed and will this help my vision. Would this be something I should persue? Are there any new treatments being developed to treat the scar tissue?
Avatar n tn He said that you always see evidence of any type of abdominal surgery no matter how invasive the surgery. And, since I had such a huge surgery back in 2000, he expected to see some type of adhesion debries...but did not see anything. A great testimonial to Body rolling! I always suggest checking with the doctor. I am not a doctor, just a person who was miserable from the pain of adhesions.
Avatar n tn The surgeon also had to remove a lot of scar tissue during the surgery. The months later, the scar tissue grew back. One surgeon in the group recommended another surgery to removed the scar tissue. A 2nd surgeon in the same group advised against it. He said the retina could detach, which would result in me having to start all over again with the oil, the wait time, the air, the wait time. The 2nd doctor of the same group said the Scar Tissue was very aggressive and I had a lot of it..
982173 tn?1248622500 rhizotomy ( use of electrical current to burn the nerve ending as sandee suggests) can take the pain away if nerve blocks don't work. surgery can remove the scar, but if you are a scar former, there is no guarantee that surgically removing the scar will not produce new scars that can impinge on the nerve in a different angle or position.
1232362 tn?1333139006 I imagine that the laser would be used to reduce scar tissue from lung damage due to repeat bronchial infections. Too much scar tissue will narrow the airways, and as a result make breathing harder to get the same amount of oxygen in. Also airway damage perpetuates more infections, which in turn causes more damage. This type of treatment sounds experimental yet. Lasers are used in many diseases now and also as a cosmetic treatment for skin conditions or just plain aging.
Avatar n tn Yes, the laser works by damaging tissue and creating scar tissue to seal (like welding) the hole shut. If the tear were in sighted retina (the very peripheral retina is not used in peripheral vision) it is possible to "see" the damage. Ask your surgeon. Should get better with time.
Avatar m tn had retina detachments in both eyes - left eye had 3 detachments 5 operations leaving me with 2400 vision - right eye has one detachment repaired 2+ years ago - now have scar tissue in that eye from cataract surgery which accompanied my retina surgery.
Avatar n tn I went back to my surgeon and after several tests, he said I had scar tissue and would need to wear glasses if I wanted better vision. He also said a Yag laser surgery could help with the cloudyness but nevertheless would need to wear glasses. I am very upset about this because I was under the impression that after the cateract surgery I would not need to wear glasses for distance - only drugstore reading glasses for upclose reading. Please give me your thoughts on this.
Avatar n tn She had laser surgery for this now her vision is blurred and she went to MD and he told her she had scar tissue build up and that was causing vision problem. MD said there was nothing could be done. Can't some type of surgery remove this scar tissue? If so what type and how effective is it.
Avatar n tn I have very thin retinas and have had kryotherapy once to treat a torn retina I also had cataract surgery that has left me with scar tissue - my opthalmologist has recommeded I have a laser procedure to remove the scar tissue - when I asked him about any shock or destabilization of the retina he did say there was a risk So my question is what is the level of risk or likelihood of retina damage?
Avatar f tn After way too many trips to Emergency Room for a Foley catheter, I had laser surgery and then cold knife surgery. Surgery alone almost never fixes a stricture permanently. What finally worked is a second cold knife surgery followed by 6 months with a temporary stent (Spanner). I took the Spanner out March 30 this year and have had NO retention problems since that date and my flow rate is above normal for my age (77) and has remained unchanged since the Spanner was removed.
