Common Questions and Answers about Laser surgery rosacea

Avatar m tn I believe the most effective way of dealing with rosacea was with laser treatment on the affected areas. Here in NZ it is covered under medical insurance if it's caused by a medical condition ie: HCV and or tx. Otherwise it can be seen as a cosmetic procedure. I suffered from rosacea for years even prior to tx (and of course found out later that it was a symptom of the HCV), after my first tx it worsened and I underwent a course of pulse laser light treatment with great success.
Avatar m tn I understand that the extra growth tissue can be removed by laser. However, I see some people with rosacea, they often have thickened skin with large pore and the nose is enlarged as a whole, not just bumps. So I am extremely worried and horrified if I've got to that stage, I would never have a chance to have a normal looking nose again.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have ocular rosacea and Dr. K had told me about a laser surgery to treat my gluacoma and it was to help me with the ocular rosacea in the long run. I wanted to hear what he would reccomend that I do. I do not want to take Doxycycline the rest of my life. It is for my eyes.....
Avatar n tn Response may also depend on what specific skin condition the laser therapy is directed to. For rosacea it may be directed towards minimizing flushing and telangiectasia ( visible blood vessels). For acne, it may be used for softening scars . Why was laser therapy indicated for your son?
Avatar m tn It can be due to environmental changes, skin trauma, overuse of steroids, acne rosacea or venous hypertension. Laser treatment is the best option for telangiectasia. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am seeking advice regarding rosacea and contact sports. For the past few years I'd occasionally get a small red, sometimes flaky, patch on my right cheek below the eye. It would occur a couple times a month and pass within a day or two. After one particularly annoying flareup, I went out and bought a non-drying moisturizing face wash from a company called Simple. It was over the counter and cleared up the redness/patching to the point that I forgot about it.
Avatar m tn It's most probably rosacea which at one point was thought to be brought on by Demodex mites. That theory is not now not widely held as they have that many in the general population also have Deomodex mites but do not have rosacea. In any event, many of us -- including myself -- have developed rosacea from the treatment drugs, probably the interferon.
Avatar n tn Surgery or other treatments may help your skin look better if you have advanced rosacea. Choices may include dermabrasion, cryosurgery, or laser treatment.Discuss which option is suited for you with your dermatologist. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn There are other treatments for severe form of rosacea like laser treatment, photodynamic therapy, oral antibiotics, and retinoids which you could discuss with your physician. Best..
Avatar f tn All of a sudden from the past 6 months I have been suffering from few skin problems , intially it started with pimples and now pimples have come down , but rather suffering from dryness and redness only on cheeks , some have told me it could be rosacea . I wonder can rosacea happen only to cheeks , I dont have redness on nose , chin and other places . I am unable to understand whether its rosacea or just skin infection .
493068 tn?1224765315 I have Ocular Rosacea and it gets very bad at times and have chronic styes. Can you explain why this condition is so painful? I am off and on Doxycyclines and Erythromycin ointment. Is there any other new treatment? I also have glaucoma and have Sjogrens. I have some days that I am unable to read or drive.
Avatar m tn You have been so accurate in most of your replies that it scares me ! I have Occular Rosacea- Chronic conjunctivitis -Light sensativity. Your response mirrors my situation and I would imagine that if you knew the other issues you would have came to the same conclusion . I must say that all my Retina and other complications came to light after cataract surgery. It is a shame that some docs do not listen better and look harder before recommending surgery.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms rosacea needs to be ruled out. The exact cause of rosacea is not known. The basic process seems to involve dilation of the small blood vessels of the face. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin. Treatment options vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment. A dermatologist’s evaluation will be the best. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Treatment options for rosacea vary from antibiotic creams, antihistaminics, sun screens to laser treatment. You should wear long sleeved cotton clothes and apply sun screen with a minimum spf of 30 atleast half an hour before going out in the sun. Since you are using antibiotics which have proven ineffective, using alpha-hydroxy acid peels may help relieve redness caused by irritation, and reduce papules and pustules associated with rosacea. You can get them done.
Avatar n tn Your condition need to be further assessed. If this indeed is rosacea, then laser therapy will help at this point .
493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hi. Rosacea responds well to laser therapy, but there are lots of other things you can try before resorting to this expensive option. Your doctor can prescribe you oral Oxytetracycline and topical Metronidozole (Metro gel) both of which are very effective. Use a cleanser and moisturizer indicated for Rosacea. My favorites are: Rosaliac by La Roche-Posay, Redness Relief by Eucerin and Redness Solutions by Clinique.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 25 year old female who has been struggling with acne and itchy skin for 5 years now. I've been to several dermatologists that debate the diagnosis of Rosacea or just sensitive skin. I've been on all types of topicals and antibiotics with no relief from the itch. My face itches and feels tight practically everyday and seems to come and go in bursts of intensity. Some days it feels completely normal and then instantly becomes itchy and tight feeling.

Avatar f tn Hello, What you may be having is steroid induced dermatitis or rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effect of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years. Using tacrolimus often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea but it should be taken after a dermatologist’s guidance.
