Avatar n tn My eyes are very dry . It is aggravated by air conditioners, computors etc but not the cause. They have been dry for about 10 years now. I had lazik surgery a year ago and have not got worst.
Avatar f tn The one where they cut the eye or the other that's done without a scalpel by laser only? What are the side effects of the surgery if any? I have dry eyes and cannot wear contacts and working as a Medical Assistant can be difficult with glasses. I can't go scuba diving or anything else because of them. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Hello I am experiencing chronically dry eyes with gritty, scarping-like sensation. I have tried hypermellose eye drops but they only seem to really help for an hour or two and then it is back to the distressing situation. Is there a treatment that works for longer? Are there permanent treatments? I believe that this has been onset following laser eye surgery a few years back. My eyes have never been the same. Appreciate all assistance.
Avatar f tn Hi, i'm thinking about having laser eye surgery and have been doung some reading up about it. Has anyone had complications with lasik and regret having it? and what is wavefront worth it?
Avatar n tn They did a test and he said that I have a condition (probably from birth) which condition's name I did not catch but the nurse said that it was like having freckles in my eyes. Could that also affect the laser surgery? What options do I have? I can't see well with my glasses, they bother me tremendously and my options are contacts or laser. Can you shed some light on these issues please? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Seeing an eye doctor. Had laser surgery for catoracs. Since then have had severe dry eye. Its been months. Was tested for dry eyes and told I produce NO tears. Been on lots of drops. They do NOT work. Eyes are soooo tired and painful. What else can I do?
Avatar f tn what I can expect, the pros of PRK for dry eyes, what the next few days after surgery will be like? Thank you.I also never got a second opinion and my eye sight seems to have worsened in the last few months. Do you suggest I get a second opinion before my surgery at the end of this month? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Also some eye MDs feel PRK or mini-flap LASEK may be better than traditional LASIK for dry eyes. Please read the information from a previous post on Dry eyes JCH III MD General Information on Dry Eyes a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes. I'm assuming from your posting that you have tried both preserved and unpreserved artifical tears, gels or lubricating ointments at bedtime, environmental modification, etc. Don't discount eye drops.
Avatar f tn I thought I would probably feel pain and maybe I wouldn't have any vision in the eye at all, but I figured I'd ask to make sure. My eyes are very very dry tho too. I never had that problem unless I was up 20 hrs and had my contacts in the whole time. say hi to Nick for me.
Avatar f tn IF your symptoms are in both eyes and started a year after surgery its NOT the surgery. Use the search feature and archives to read a bout dry eyes and ask your eye MD about restasis.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem? I am experiencing dry eyes quite badly so possibly this is linked?
Avatar n tn I have had laser hole repair on both my eyes. I had no symptoms prior to surgery and these holes were discovered on a routine eye exam. I am 48. He examined my eyes and performed the surgery immediately, my right eye felt fine right away and my left felt swollen and for about a month in fact I thought I had an eye infection. He examined my eye a month after surgery and said nothing was wrong, my own ophthalmologist did the same and said everything looked fine & even tested my eye pressure.
Avatar m tn LASIK surgery can cause what ophthalmologists call "Ocular Surface Disorder" but goes by name 'dry eye syndrome". two types more severe is 'aqueous deficiency' no tears, eye feels like sandpaper and often dry mouth. Other is 'lipid deficiency" and the eyes water because tears poor quality. LASIK can cause either, mainly in females as dry eye problems much more common in women mainly post menopausal but can occur in males and young women.
Avatar m tn Also, I began to have dry eyes and migranes, what should I do about it?? Is laser eye surgery safe now? Would you recommend it?
Avatar f tn I had a problem with running eyes sometimes and then I had cataracts removed from both eyes. Shortly after the eye surgery I had breast cancer surgery along with chemo and radiation. Now my eyes are running all the time, it is very annoying I was told that maybe I needed surgery on them because the tear ducts are probably blocked. I really do not want another surgery and was wondering if there is something else I can do and whether or not the chemo or radiation could have played a part in this.
Avatar n tn Make sure refraction is stable and appropriate for laser vision correction before considering surgery. Basically if you see a good reputable ophthalmologist surgeon, he/she should be able to walk you through all this.
Avatar m tn I too had the sclera buckle surgery, nitrous bubble and follow up laser. It was only after the laser that I developed unilateral headache and severe light sensitivity. Two months have passed since having the laser and the headaches are decreasing. The retinal surgeon provided short term analgesics but directed me to my HCP for follow up due to him not seeing a relation to the laser treatment.
Avatar n tn Please can you tell me if thyroid treatment ( armour thyroid) would have had any effect on laser surgery. I had lasik and prk and the targets were not reached . one plus and one minus and an enhansment has been suggested.
1958686 tn?1468786503 Hi, I had laser surgery a few days ago to repair a torn retina - since then, I have been experiencing light sensitivity, headaches, dry eye and nausea. Will all this go away over time? I was fine before the surgery. Thanks for any input.
Avatar n tn Treatment with onntment at night and lubricating drops during day. Failing that, laser surgery has been used successfully.
Avatar n tn Following the surgery I had a lot of problems with my vision, eyes dry, bloodshot, irritated, burning. My doctor said I was kind of an odd case but was optimistic that everything would be okay. I was given doxycycl HCY 50 mg daily, warm compresses, non-preservative eye drops and plugs were put in my tear ducts. Eventually, they got better and I was able to enjoy good vision. Not as good as we had hoped but I was still happy with the results.
493068 tn?1224768915 Doxycylcine low dose is helpful and sometims a gently lid cleaner like oculsoft lid scrubs can help. Obviously dry eyes are playing a part, as if often the case, and these things I have told you about may help that. (Don't use tea tree shampoo unless you are really found to have demodex.) Finally, I would do everything possible to reduce glaucoma drops.
233488 tn?1310696703 A new product "OcuSOFT Lid Scrubs PLUS has worked extremely well for the condition called blepharitis (oil and debris and irritation along margin of eyelid) associated with dry eyes. The PLUS product works much better than the regular OcuSOFT Lid Scrub plus the PLUS product is left on the lids and does not have to be dried off. RESTASIS continues to be the medication of choice for moderate or severe dry eyes.
Avatar m tn I have worn contact lenses for 8 years now but can't anymore because since all of the floaters appeared my eyes have also been very dry. I feel like there should be a connection between all of them but maybe not. There are quite a few floaters and they swim around all the time as if in water. Do I need to be worried about damage done to my eyes? Should I be consulting a specialist? Any help please?
Avatar f tn where it's not good to have cataract surgery if you have dry eyes. Any insight into this would be helpful. I can find tons of info on the internet on both dry eyes and cataracts but nothing specific about my question.
Avatar m tn Many who complained about severe dry eye have had other conditions or have had conventional surgery or Laser surgery also . 5. Have talked to several dry eye patients and I don't know if any two have the same treatments . I have actually had people that complained to their Docs and that nothing seemed to work, try my Celluvisc and end up getting their own because it relieves burning and lasts for more than a few mins. 6.
Avatar m tn I currently wear glasses about 80% of the time, and only wear soft contacts occasionally, since my eyes are so dry. On the other hand, if I correct my RE to only within -2 diopters of my LE, it seems a shame since I likely will need surgery at some point for the cataract in my LE (it's just not clear when I will need it -- could be years). I do not mind having to wear glasses after surgery, but am tempted by the idea of becoming much less nearsighted.
