Avatar f tn Lasik or another type of laser surgery?
Avatar f tn I had a problem with running eyes sometimes and then I had cataracts removed from both eyes. Shortly after the eye surgery I had breast cancer surgery along with chemo and radiation. Now my eyes are running all the time, it is very annoying I was told that maybe I needed surgery on them because the tear ducts are probably blocked. I really do not want another surgery and was wondering if there is something else I can do and whether or not the chemo or radiation could have played a part in this.
Avatar f tn Seeing an eye doctor. Had laser surgery for catoracs. Since then have had severe dry eye. Its been months. Was tested for dry eyes and told I produce NO tears. Been on lots of drops. They do NOT work. Eyes are soooo tired and painful. What else can I do?
Avatar n tn I have had laser hole repair on both my eyes. I had no symptoms prior to surgery and these holes were discovered on a routine eye exam. I am 48. He examined my eyes and performed the surgery immediately, my right eye felt fine right away and my left felt swollen and for about a month in fact I thought I had an eye infection. He examined my eye a month after surgery and said nothing was wrong, my own ophthalmologist did the same and said everything looked fine & even tested my eye pressure.
Avatar n tn I had limbal relaxing incisions, and they did not worsen my dry eyes. (My eyes were somewhat dry before and somewhat dry after--no noticeable change. I could still wear contacts comfortably.) One more suggestion: ask about PRK (another refractive procedure). It's reputed to be better than LASIK for people with dry eyes. It's supposed to be more reliable than limbal relaxing incisions for correcting astigmatism.
Avatar f tn I have to have a laser op for a tears in my retina in 2 days time. Has anyone had this and could tell me ....how long does the surgery last? is it painfull? am I back to normal the next day?
Avatar f tn Tree years ago I had cataract surgery in both eyes. The right eye was 20/20 the left was 20/30. I was pleased with this result. A few months ago I noticed double letters on the TV screen. My doctor said I had developed a film over my lens. He performed YAG Laser, Posterior Capsulotomy. Now my vision is worse. His explanation was that after the laser procedure, my macular degeneration became more prominent. I have the dry version and a test showed no advancement.
Avatar m tn LASIK surgery can cause what ophthalmologists call "Ocular Surface Disorder" but goes by name 'dry eye syndrome". two types more severe is 'aqueous deficiency' no tears, eye feels like sandpaper and often dry mouth. Other is 'lipid deficiency" and the eyes water because tears poor quality. LASIK can cause either, mainly in females as dry eye problems much more common in women mainly post menopausal but can occur in males and young women.
Avatar n tn There are all degrees of dry eyes some preclude lasik while less severe forms do not. I suggest you discuss this with your surgeon.
Avatar n tn I had this surgery May 21, 2009. Since then I have undergone 2 laser treatments to repair 2 tears. Laser zaps were over 500 combined. My eye flares up and hurts very badly. When this happens, vision is affected. Could I be alergic to the buckle after this long? What are the symptoms? What can be done?
Avatar f tn I have been trying to find something to help my dry eyes. My Opthimal rubs a paper across my eyes which turns green. Her recommended medicine is Baush & Loom Soomth EP eye drops. Everytime I use them the next day the inside of my eyelids feel gritty like sandpaper. It is very uncomfortable. Retasis does the same thing. The Dr. tells me my dryness is between 3 and 4. Ocassionally my left eye swells and is painful. On thoses days I want to patch my eye to keep the light out.
Avatar m tn I want diquafosol eye drop for my swollen upper eyelid after my laser cataract surgery last april 16, 2015. Please help me. I hope you can relieve the painful eye and discomfort. Feeling something object inside my right eye. Help help help.
Avatar n tn I would also like to ad that I have tried clear eyes eye drops for dry eyes and it does not help a bit.
Avatar f tn m extremely nervous about letting anyone do surgery on them again. What are the possible cons of having the laser surgery? I was told it could stop the damage but not repair damage already done. That sounds good. But what possible negative affect could the surgery do? I have known two people close to me that had these surgeries and truly didn't benefit from them that I could tell. I'm truly perplexed about it all. I have severe dry eye that is causing severe sensitivity to light.
Avatar f tn I had temporary (week long) eye plugs put in my eyes due to dry eyes along with Pataday once a day eye drop for eye allergies. My eyes plugs were put in on Wednesday afternoon. How long does it take for the plugs to work, I mean my eyes aren't burning like before, but they're still somewhat red. I don't know if it's cleared a little, but I don't see a big difference. How long before my eye plugs clear up my dry eyes.
Avatar n tn 6 days post laser surgery for glaucoma. The second day everything was fine, however my doctor had recommended artificial tears for my dry eyes. I immediately began using it and over medicated, I assume as prior to the usage of the eye drops my eyes were fine. Do I need to be concerned as my eyes are extremely painful and even exposure indoor lights are extremely painful. Should i expect my condition to improve?
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor & patients, I'm very confused & concerned about getting eye surgery... I'm in my early 50's and can no longer wear my GP contact lenses due to dry eyes. I had great, crisp correction of astigmatism & severe myopia for many years with my GP contacts, then used reading glasses over them throughout my 40's until I could no longer tolerate my dry eyes...
Avatar f tn what I can expect, the pros of PRK for dry eyes, what the next few days after surgery will be like? Thank you.I also never got a second opinion and my eye sight seems to have worsened in the last few months. Do you suggest I get a second opinion before my surgery at the end of this month? Thank you.
Avatar m tn You probably have a small amount which can be corrected by an LRI. However, it you really have dry eyes this will make is worse for a short time. A better option is probably PRK. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn You may disfunctional tear syndome (dry eyes). You need to follow up with your surgeon.
Avatar m tn The closest thing I found to what my wife said she read was that chemical burns can damage Limbal Stem cells and cause vision loss. My current doctor did tell us that all the surgery and laser surgery on my eyes is probibly responsible for most of the lost visual acuity--maybe thats what he meant. He onlt said I was having a toxic reaction to the drops and not that they do or did any damage .
Avatar n tn Treatment with onntment at night and lubricating drops during day. Failing that, laser surgery has been used successfully.
Avatar m tn I would recommend that you see a corneal specialist to have your eyes examined and treated for possible dry eyes. There are lots of different approaches for this condition and your symptoms may be ameliorated. Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
