This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them. Also then get the possibility of acanthosis nigricans ruled out.

Avatar n tn Ive been to like skin clinics and gthey charge like upto 3k fr the treatment but yet its not a gaurantee to get rid off it as its a laser treatment. The cons are that i could get burns and the skin colour could go darker or i may have pale marks on my legs after the treatment. Therefore i never went for the treatment. I am loking for a treatment which is more effective and does not have any side effects. I saw the forums posted and was woundering if someone could guide me the right way.

Avatar m tn Hello, The Vbeam produces a laser light that can be absorbed by the red pigment in the skin. The Vbeam laser works in combination with the Cool Touch laser and with a substance called Levulan. While the Vbeam laser removes red from acne scar tissue, the Cool Touch laser tightens the skin from the inside out. But this requires more than two sittings to take effect. So you should follow up with your cosmetologist and get it done in multiple sittings.
Avatar n tn From what was told to me, both do not go deep into the skin. I am thinking about laser treatment and especially the costs involved. I am still trying Hydroquinone at 3% along with something I picked up online. I am using a toothbrush to apply it with. However I am not whitening the area in the image. I cannot take changes that it will get worst. I am applying coco-butter maybe Ill try tretinoin and corticosteriods and axelaic acid.
Avatar n tn Creams don't do much for it. There are laser treatment and chemical peels that can help. These are safe and not invasive. They are not, of course, covered by health insurance. I suggest you contact a dermatologist with a cosmetic orientation to ask about what procedures are available. Then propoer use of sunscreen will help prevent recurrence. Take care. Dr.
Avatar n tn Hi, Melasma presents as a dark facial skin rash with irregular borders. The cause of Melasma remains unknown but is believed to be due to an increase in the production of cells which release the pigment, melanin. The most important fact to understand about Melasma is that in the majority of cases it is a transient skin disorder. It may exist for a few months to a few years and then suddenly resolve. Thus treatment is not always warranted.

Avatar m tn I'm only considering gentle skin whitening/bleaching, hense the hydroquinone inquiry. 2) Microdermabrasion - I've been doing this to a certain extent and have some level of success but I guess I have to be more patient and let the glans heal then do another session (I believe I've successfully de-kernelized my penis glan at this point which makes it more sensitive) 3) Laser skin resurfacing, isn't this too harsh on the penis glans?
Avatar n tn The birthmark got darker over time, especially after exposed under the Sun. I have been doing skin laser treatment around the left eye area and the results are very promising, but the birthmark do gets darker again. When i was young, there wasn't much Nevus of Ota on my eye white, or sclera. During summer time, i like to go to beach and do water sports. That's probably the main reason causing the Nevus of Ota in my eye from pale blue to dark blue.

377493 tn?1356505749 I have to have it removed. This is done through laser, but is a bit more complicated then I had orginally been led to believe. It means an overnight stay in the hospital, I will be put out, and my Dr. tells me a fair bit of pain afterward. I am scheduled to have this done Jan. 13th. Now, they wouldn't have done it if my pregnancy had continued, but due to the outcome, my OB/GYN thinks I should proceed and get it over with.
