Common Questions and Answers about Laser skin procedures

Avatar f tn Microdermabrasion would probably help. I had this done once and it makes the skin quite smooth by scrubbing away a layer of skin. You can buy over-the-counter microdermabrasion products but I've tried them and they are no where near as good, and actually seemed to irritate more because they are very harsh. If you get it done professionally, they use very fine crystals and do it in such a way that it doesn't (or shouldn't) irritate the skin.
Avatar n tn Oral Isotretinoin (Accutane etc) can delay skin healing during treatment and for up to 6 months afterwards. Any non-urgent surgical or cosmetic procedures (laser treatment/cosmetic surgery etc) should be scheduled for after this time. What do his dermatologist and dentist advice? Does the benefit of this surgery outweigh the possible complications?
Avatar n tn Is it safe to have laser treatments (titan, thermage) and chemical peels while breastfeeding? Please advice! I'm 42 years old and my face is looking terrible after pregnancy and although love breasfeeding, I feel I need also a little TLC for myself! Thanks!

Avatar n tn Hi I have been undergoing som yellow and white peels at the skin clinic in preparation to laser skin resurfacing treatment. I hve finished 2 sittings of both the peels. Now just before a month to the laser treatment, my doctor has advised me to take sotret tablets for 30 days, and once done will start the laser.
Avatar n tn I use kinerase as a moisturizer but my skin still seems to be really dry... within the last month my pores have become very large. I am scheduled to have laser surgery for the blood vessels and redness on my face on Jan. 4, 2006 I have been doing some research and I am a bit overwhelmed and confused and don't know which direction to go in. My doctor uses the Photogenica V-star pulse dye laser.. but I have been reading up on IPL treatment.
Avatar n tn I've tried topicals like Retin A micro, but it makes my skin too red and it has no effect on the pores. Salicylic acid works ok, but once again even if the pores are clear, they are still huge and I keep getting the same blackheads every other day due to the sebeacous glands. I've looked into lasers such as Laser Genesis and lasers such as Smoothbeam, Cooltouch, and Aramis which are supposed to shrink the sebaceous glands, but I don't know if they will actually work.
Avatar f tn My thick glasses actually caused horrible skin problems, blackheads because the lenses sat on my skin, and I severely burned the skin under my eyes because of the magnification aspect under the sun (think ants and magnifying glasses). I also developing blood vessels growing into the wrong parts of my eyes because of the lack of oxygen my eyes were getting. Honestly, Lasik was the only way I was going to keep my vision. The starburst/halo effect was noticeable the first few years ..

Avatar m tn Hi, please help I have a flat brown mole on my cheek and have had it since birth, its about a centimeter wide. I had it removed with a CO2 laser but when the scab fell off it was still there. It has only been about a week so could the mole still go away somehow in a couple days (should more skin flake off), or was the treatment unsuccessfull. If it is unsuccessfull what options do I have to permanently remove this mole.
Avatar n tn If so, there are a number of treatments available. One very popular remedy has been laser skin resurfacing which helps to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, scars, lines and hyper pigmentation surrounding the eyes and mouth. It can also be used to treat areas on the cheeks. Laser resurfacing does not cause as much discomfort, bruising, scaring or bleeding compared to other cosmetic surgery procedures.

Avatar f tn This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them. Avatar f tn however, the skin on the upper lip is far too sensitive for laser hair removal, whatever your skin tone. I have spent a fortune on creams such as Clinique's dark spot corrector with little effect. The issue is that the damage caused by the laser is so deep no topical solution is effective. I fear that the hyperpigmention will worsen over time, which terrifies me as the situation is already distressing enough.

Avatar f tn Hi, This could be cherry angiomas. They are not harmful, and are considered a benign skin growth. Campbell de Morgan Spots are not painful, but some are prone to bleeding when scratched or bruised. From a purely medical perspective they don’t require removal unless they’re prone to bleeding frequently. Commonly, doctors remove Campbell de Morgan Spots via three different methods. Electrosurgery is minor surgery, using a small needle that generates electricity to disrupt and remove an angioma.
Avatar n tn Hi, Removal of chicken pox scar depends on several factors such as the depth of the scar, body response and the length of the scar present. The usual recommendation is to moisturize with vitamin E rich creams and procedures such as microdermabrasion or laser treatment. There are many products in the web that claim to be effective in removing scars and keloids. However, before making a decision to use any product, make sure that they are all natural and are registered with the FDA.
Avatar n tn In general, surgical procedures are best avoided, if the only issue is pigment. Even noninvasive techniques, such as laser, may lead to mottling, blotchiness, or even darkening of the already discolored area. Medications which help lighten discoloration include hydroquinone, azelaic acid, kojic acid, and tretinoin (Vitamin A derivatives.) These are available worldwide. Other options include superficial to medium depth chemical peels with agents like trichloroacetic acid.
Avatar n tn Hello, For the hair growth problem, you can go in for laser hair removal which causes permanent reduction of hair and does not cause folliculitis also. Please consult a good cosmetologist/dermatologist for that. Regarding the eczema patch, apply mild steroid cream and some good quality moisturizers. You can also take oral steroids after consulting a dermatologist.

Avatar m tn I have wasted enormous amount of money on all these treatments and procedures they have prescribed me. But, as I compare my current looks to photos I made before I started visiting the clinic, I didn't notice any difference. The redness dropped maybe a little bit, but it is hardly noticeable. So, my current situation is this. I use a moisturizer cream, a cleaner, a "lighter" version of Accutane and 2 gels, all prescribed by the professionals from the clinic.
