Common Questions and Answers about Laser skin options

laser

Avatar n tn I have used TCA, glycolic peels, hydroquinone, tretioin, kojic, bit nothing has reduced it. Recently i heard that yag laser can be used for depigmenting skin by destroying melanin cells itself, and in a way cause hypopigmentation in these regions. Can I do this. Please advice the type of laser, etc.
Avatar n tn Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels. Ablative fractional lasers are quite effective for open pores and erbium laser can be done but it may take a week for recovery. However this laser causes fewer side effects -- such as swelling, bruising, and redness In my opinion you should discuss these treatment options with a cosmetologist/dermatologist.
Avatar n tn After researching both , I feel the fraction is too expensive and I read a lot of people feel as though their skin is thinner . I do not have thick skin to begin with . He told me the fraction laser has about a week to 10 days of down time where the erbium only leaves your face red for a day . I am confused because on the web a lot of dr.s say you'll have about a week of down time with the erbium laser ? Can anyone give me advise on this erbium laser treatments ?

Avatar m tn Today I saw my doctor who was quite refreshed from rest at home. He recommended two treatment options, one is injection once a week and the other is baraclude by mouth once daily. Because the former has side effects that may cause me (the bread earner of my family) to stop working, I immediately chose the latter, which costs $2200 per 90 days. Would appreciate your sharing your experience if you have used baraclude before. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I've tried topicals like Retin A micro, but it makes my skin too red and it has no effect on the pores. Salicylic acid works ok, but once again even if the pores are clear, they are still huge and I keep getting the same blackheads every other day due to the sebeacous glands. I've looked into lasers such as Laser Genesis and lasers such as Smoothbeam, Cooltouch, and Aramis which are supposed to shrink the sebaceous glands, but I don't know if they will actually work.
Avatar f tn While your body is getting over the first few months after your delivery of your baby you can look at all the options and schedule a Urogynecologist appt if you want to find out your options for further treatment. You can ask them about this laser treatment as well if you are still interested in trying it. I dont know much about it but do feel a proper assessment needs to be made for you to be able to make the best decision for you.
Avatar f tn I am now considering asking my doctor to refer me to a skin specialist, but I have heard horror stories of the laser treatments and chemical peels. I know nobody can tell me exactly what will help as all of us have different skin and reactions, but is there ANY advice anyone could give me on what to do next and what has helped them?! Thank you!
Avatar n tn These treatments evaporate the first few layers (or even deeper) of damaged or pigmented skin to reveal fresh, even toned skin. Regards.
Avatar n tn It's called the Spectranetics Laser Wire and is basically a angioplasty guide wire that has a very fine laser in it. From my limited understanding it can be torgued to make turns to follow a long occlusion, but I don't know if it is more manueverable than the standard wire. I had previously been told that attempting to remove a long occlusion in a coronary artery was very dangerous because of the chance of burning out of the artery.
Avatar m tn It has only been about a week so could the mole still go away somehow in a couple days (should more skin flake off), or was the treatment unsuccessfull. If it is unsuccessfull what options do I have to permanently remove this mole.
Avatar f tn can laser surgery help remove those scars? And if so, how soon can I start laser skin treatment? I have very pale white skin and would like the scars to be removed without my skin pigmentation changing. Do you also know how much they usually cost? Thank you so much.
